Tales From The Krip!

I have seen some Blackwater plants that turn just about black they are so dark. I feel the same way though. Don't breed something and advertise it as purple, than it should come out purple. I see it all the time with GDP. Which is depressing really. It is one of the best known "purple" strains there are but most people get green plants. Either take it out of the name or breed it so it turns the color you advertise.

I hear ya on the purple pot. Anytime I've run multiple beans of the same strain the purple ones haven't been as good as the green ones. That's not to say I don't like them I just think the green ones are better. Another strain I've seen quite a few times is Purple Envy and not one of them has been purple.
Yup...wat Neiko just said!
My ladt crop had a nice PE..but purple it was not. Green as can be.Great tasting produce though and very hi yielding.cheers
Yea i noticed when i ran pure purple strains if they did actually go purple i always ended up having issues trying to trim all the leaf off cause if the bud and leaves r both dark purple its hard to tell the difference lol

Some of those strains do require cold weather to turn purple. My last grow was Blue Diesel and I packed ice around the base of the plant to get it to turn blue and to help it finish quickly. There's also an additive by Humboldt County called "Purple Maxx" that will help purple strains turn purple (it won't make a non-purp turn!). I've tested their Snow Storm Ultra product but never their Purple Maxx (and, don't have the desire to! :D )

For real thts y i like sweetseeds ive ran there dark devil and red poison both get very purple/red. But yea i use the cold trick during lights off to turn my plants colors. I love it wen the strain im working on dailing in right now goes into flower if its cold out cause then she turns a ton of different colors pinks blues tht can go slightly purple. Its black domina x with Hindu kush skunk man isshe stinky come flower like a skunk mixxed with fuel gassy kinda smell. I member last summer when i was pheno hunting to lock in some good traits i ran a bunch outside n they stunk so bad u cud follow the smell down the road like a trail lol.

DAY #1 OF 12/12 UPDATE

The light schedule in the tent was set to 12/12 yesterday and when I checked the girls this morning, I was pretty surprised at the array of green colors, The girls all look extremely happy and all the new growth shoots on all the plants are an extremely light green color - even more so than I've previously seen.

The best example of this that could be captured by the pic is Tut #1. Checkout the contrasting green colors on this beautiful beast:

And, even the Blackwater that just got added is not only showing nice color, but is actually already very close in height to the White Widow. She also has some sturdy stems so she should be able to support some good-sized buds, which is another reason I selected her over the other clones to add to the tent:

The contrast isn't as obvious in the other pictures, thanks to the flash, but in person, they look similar with all the bright-colored growth tips.

Here's the White Widow:

Tut #2:

And, Fruit Punch:

Happy Harvests!

One thing about running a SOG grow is that you get real good at cloning!

This is the BG-41 clone taken last Sunday (one week ago). Not even a hint of yellowing and checkout all the roots! :thumb:

Just mixed up another batch of first run kit soil for the next round. After cooking for 75 days, or so, in the tropical sun here, it should be like third run soil anywhere else!

Having that second batch of soil will prevent me from having to wait while the first batch is re-cooking after harvest before putting my next round in the tent.

I'm getting itchy on those IHG strains, so I think I'm going to try to run at least one of each of the Dolato & Forbidos along with the BG-41.

The flower tent just looks incredible with all those plants definitely in high brix territory, based on those bright green petioles and shoots; and while I'm still a ways from harvest, I have to admit it's getting to be a pretty exciting grow, even for an "old-timer" like me! :yahoo:

One of the great things about growing cannabis, is each grow is almost as exciting as the first with the anticipation of what new strains and new changes to your grow method/style will bring.

Is it too early to start sampling???:rofl:

Drive-by. Looks like things are exploding over here.. Congrats on the babies happy and healthy... .

Your doing a SCOG right,, not a SOG? GL and Keepem Green

Thanks, Brother! :thanks:

Actually, it's neither a SOG nor a SCROG - just intense training to try to maximize the space.

The netting is just some trellis netting that I was trying to use as a SCROG screen to control height on Tut #1 but, honestly, the netting is bungi material and the holes are just too large to really use as a SCROG. Best it accomplishes is leaning (not bending!) a cola to the next opening.

It's really to support all those (hopefully!) heavy colas I should see starting to form over the next couple of weeks and I do have it raised higher than I would if I was doing a SCROG. These will be the largest plants I've grown, so far, and if Tut #1 more than doubles in size, I could have some issues. That being said, I've looked at several Tut grows and it seems it doesn't stretch much, so I should/could be OK! :D

So glad you made the move to DBHBB! Your killing! In a good way of course! Buy as many seeds as you need, as long as your planting them in beautiful kit soil, meeting adjourned.

:thumb:

Thanks, Brother! :thanks:

Yeah, I'm very happy with the switch to the kit. It's incredibly simple and MUCH less work than dealing with the hydro stuff I used to. I'm also very anxious to try my first batch of HB meds - especially that Tut! If that pheno can get anywhere near the strain's touted 30% THC level, it should be with the kit! :yahoo:

You're definitely improving as a sponsor, BTW! Pretty soon, I figure you'll be sending me seeds! Now, THAT'S a sponsor!

That is a nice large plant that Tut..... GL with her...........

Even if it doesn't hit 30% it will be high enough you won't notice. What you should notice more than THC content is the terps. The right terpene profile will blow you away more than a high thc#. The high is unique with HB produce and tends to last longer than non HB weed. I'm sure you'll love the end result either way.
Ethos is supposed to be dropping some new genetics next week, one being Mandarin cookies r1 v2 and he says the terps are way louder than original. That interest you?

Sounds interesting, but going to pass. Got more than enough good genetics for quite some time and, honestly, although I've never tried any of the cookies strains (let alone grown one!), I've been hearing bad things about it and the crosses. Reports I've read is that it's all terps & bag appeal but the high is somewhat depressing, which is just not my style! I don't mind couchlock, but could do without the tears!

That being said, my understand is that both the IHG Dolato & Forbidos are crosses of their Dosidos which, you guessed it, is a GSC cross!

You know what, you're right, I've seen that about cookie crosses too. But having a crazy high terp strain sure sounds good lol!
