Tales From The Krip!

Hey Krip, welcome back , and i hear your trying Doc's gear,...muhahaha,..you will be "assimilated"
Looks like a cool, well made little grow chamber too ,...nice job. On wheels,..best part.:thumb:
Enjoy the night would ya...:passitleft:

Thanks, Duggan! It's good to see you again and I see you're still kicking it in the grow room! :high-five:
I'm really looking forward to seeing what the kit can do and have a hunch I'll be hooked!

Thanks, RF! I stopped by your grow earlier. Not sure if you're saying I need to put something together, or you need to put something together, for the clones & bonsais.

When I was running the SOG grow, I had picked up a TurboKlone TK-24 but, to be honest, I've had better success in Rapid Rooter cubes.

Also, and this is important, if using Doc's kit, I think you want to avoid the hydro roots you will get in any of those similar cloners (lots of great DIY's here, though! ;) )and should probably stick to something like the cubes.

Here's a great link to a post on maintaining Bonsai Mothers:

Bonsai Mothers

And, I highly recommend reading the Bonsai Sultan Method in my sig if you have ANY interest, at all, in breeding!

 sorry. Your cab setup gave me a great idea for a clone/mom setup for myself. I ended up finding a 2x2x3 foot tent on Amazon that I'll use for the purpose. I'm excited to make a few bonsai moms. That's a great read, thanks for the links. I'll be using that bonsai breeding tech as well.

Yeah, I thought that's what you meant! A tent setup is usually going to be the easiest & cheapest way to go, if you don't need the "stealth". :Namaste:

BABY BAD AZZ KUSH

I think I may have read in a post a long time ago that if you check your seedlings hourly they sprout quicker. :hmmmm:

Just planted on Saturday and today we have our first arrival of one of the two Bad Azz Kush seedlings! :yahoo:

She'll hopefully have four cabinet companions soon!

Happy Harvests!

Congrats Krip! I dropped 4 beans yesterday so will be checking hourly, ha!

Did you just plant directlyin 1st run Docs kit soil? The 1st time I tried that, last grow, I got 3 of 4 in 3 days! The 4th did not pop.

WooHoo! Back in the game K, and with the kit too? Good for you! :high-five:

I did soak the seeds for about 12-18 hours first and, by that time, they had all sunk & cracked, so I knew they were viable. Only one had a very tiny taproot showing (more like a point, if you know what I mean!).

Other than than that, it IS first run soil and, to be honest, it was only cooking for 3 weeks (sorry, Doc! I know, I'm horrible at following directions! :D ). But, here in the tropics we get pretty warm weather so I'm guessing it was "close enough for rock & roll" and will continue "enhance" over time with the additional treatments as the rest of the soil cooks.

I also left some extra room at the top of the containers to add more soil later since I also like to build additional soil (gradually) up the stems, which eventually grow root systems of their own, and for the plants going to flower (instead of just bonsai moms) the 4" pots will get upped to one gallon, with "more fully" cooked soil for further veg before going to the larger containers.

BTW, I was planning on using fabric pots (7 gallon) and, it occurs to me, that with the indoor grow, trying to do dunks/drenches can be messy with water dripping everywhere.

What would you recommend for a 4'x4' tent. I was going try to with (4) 7 gallon smartpots. Should I up that to 10 gallon nursery pots? Will four be too many plants in 10 gallon pots for the size of the tent?

What are your thoughts?

Yeah, I just won't feel right if I don't give Doc's kit a test run and I'll feel REALLY good with some high brix meds!

I was glad to see you not giving up on hempy though, just for the ease of moving around those larger containers. I had a hunch you'd take to that quick! :welldone:

Gotcha! I kinda wish I soaked these but to late. I was using 10 fabric for a while but recently changed to 15 plastic. I ran 3 last run but am doing 4 this time. I'd recommend 4 #10's nursery. There was a little bit of controversy over fabric vs plastic mostly because fabric air prunes the roots I think which is not wanted. They worked good for me for a while but I really like plastic.

Hi Krip...if it was me....i would go with four 10's.

Thanks guys...I think I'm gonna go with the four #10 nursery pots and glad I wasn't around for that controversy!

Perfect! I may have over stated the controversy, more like a discussion.

So, now you're telling me there's controversy about whether or not there was even controversy? Ya' know....I'm starting to think YOU might be the cause of all this controversy!!!

K....look into this method Graytail stumbled onto about keeping them in small pots when you flip and then upcanning when they’re in flower and the buds are set.

I’m simplifying. See Graytail for particulars. It looks like he’s onto something.

Hey there Mr K.... Bob here prolly don't know me but I ran across you maybe over at Woody's place. So saying high and pullin up a chair. Good for you going with Doc's kit. I'm not a brix grower per se but I'm all soil all organic no-till.

Looks like you have a bunch of friends here that know Doc's kit so you're going to be well tco'd.

Cool cab you built there.

I'm on your Bonsai mom thing thanks for the links. I've got some unruly moms going right now that I need to get some rope around. Links gonna be a bunch of help.

G/L with your little ones.

Glad to see you got another 4 legged friend. Thats the hard part about dogs, they never let us down and we out live them. Very hard to go thru. So congrats on your new buddy, wishing many many years of health and happiness. :Namaste:

I guess I'll pull up a chair over here in the corner. Welcome to HB growing, you won't regret it!

Hey, Neiko! Great to see you again, Brother, and no need to sit in the corner. Place reserved for you up-front! :high-five:
