I did soak the seeds for about 12-18 hours first and, by that time, they had all sunk & cracked, so I knew they were viable. Only one had a very tiny taproot showing (more like a point, if you know what I mean!).
Other than than that, it IS first run soil and, to be honest, it was only cooking for 3 weeks (sorry, Doc! I know, I'm horrible at following directions!
). But, here in the tropics we get pretty warm weather so I'm guessing it was "close enough for rock & roll" and will continue "enhance" over time with the additional treatments as the rest of the soil cooks.
I also left some extra room at the top of the containers to add more soil later since I also like to build additional soil (gradually) up the stems, which eventually grow root systems of their own, and for the plants going to flower (instead of just bonsai moms) the 4" pots will get upped to one gallon, with "more fully" cooked soil for further veg before going to the larger containers.
BTW, I was planning on using fabric pots (7 gallon) and, it occurs to me, that with the indoor grow, trying to do dunks/drenches can be messy with water dripping everywhere.
What would you recommend for a 4'x4' tent. I was going try to with (4) 7 gallon smartpots. Should I up that to 10 gallon nursery pots? Will four be too many plants in 10 gallon pots for the size of the tent?
What are your thoughts?
