Tales From The Krip!

I know you have access to a damn PC Mr. Krip.... Least you could do is a drive by.... Even if you're not growing... But I do hope greener pastures are ahead and hope you found one..... And Least say HIGH'... and Keepem Green

You are 100% correct, my Brother! My apologies. It's been a very tough 18 months. My house is pretty much back together but, believe it or not, still not painted. It's supposed to get painted in a couple of weeks.

In anticipation, I have started another grow - just popped some seeds last night and will try to get some pics and a real update in ASAP.

I have been checking in from time-to-time and just not logging in. One of the reasons for my extended absence (other than lack of growing) is that last summer, I tragically lost my 4 year old Golden Retriever very quickly and unexpectedly to cancer. It was so quick, in fact, I didn't even have time to try to treat him myself. I was pretty devastated over his loss.

I was considering moving (and still plan to!) but putting off to finish the house and, to be honest, just can't take more moving stuff and fixing stuff after the last year and a half of doing it here.

I did get a new Golden Retriever puppy about six months ago, and once the house is finished, things will be pretty back to normal.

I hope all is well with you and Miss J and I'll be looking for your journal in a few minutes to pop in and say "hi" there.

Best wishes, my friend! I hope you're doing well! :circle-of-love:

K..... what a wonderful surprise! :hugs::hugs::hugs:

We’ve missed you. :battingeyelashes::circle-of-love:

Hey Krip! Great to see you again round these parts! Sorry to hear about your dog! Mans best friend doesn't even begin to describe what our pets mean to us! Glad you got another companion. Also glad things are finally getting put back together with your house and that you'll be back growing and posting! Missed ya buddy!

:passitleft:

Glad you are doing OK, hope your efforts are well rewarded "homework".

Peace
Keith

Thanks for the warm "welcome backs", all, and looking forward to getting my thumbs green again after about a year of not being able to grow.

I'm making significant changes to the setup I had and am looking forward to trying some different things.

The first change-up is that I'm taking a break from hydro and going to see what I can do with Doc Bud's High Brix Kit. I used to say that soil was farming and hydro was science but Doc has truly taken the science to the soil and, having grown vegetables for many years, I have some understanding of the "power" of high brix levels.

Next is a whole new Veg setup.

In prior grows, I had dedicated my original DIY 2'x4' cabinet to vegging and was using the 2'x4' tent to flower. Well, for this grow, I'm going to shrink my veg area and, hopefully, expand the flower area.

Since stealth has always been important to me and I'm never one to resist some good DIY stuff, once again, I decided to build a veg cabinet.

Let's take a look:

I picked this locking metal storage cabinet on casters which makes it easy to move around, if needed:

I cut some holes in the back and installed electric and a fan for ventilation:

For ventilation, I picked up a cabinet cooling fan with a thermostatic controller, so I also had to cut a hole in the side for the controller:

The controller can control multiple fans and has several modes. I have it set for 80*, so if it hits that, the fan will kick on and if it gets to 90*, an alarm will sound:

And, here's a view from the inside, which I lined with Panda Film. You can also see the sensor for the thermostat/fan hanging in the back:

I started five seeds including (2) Cherry Bomb, (2) Barney's Bad Azz Kush, and (1) Mazar x White Rhino:

The cost breakdown to build the cabinet was:

Locking Storage Cabinet: $185
Thermostat/Fan: $50
Power Supply: $18
Light: $39
Magnetic Hangers (for light): $10
____________________________________
TOTAL: $302

NOTE: I had the power strip, timer, and a left-over roll of panda film; and I used existing tools/bits to modify the cabinet.

The cabinet isn't entirely light-proof, but I'm not really worried about it for Veg and it may be a little small, but I'm pretty sure I can make it work for some Bonsai Mom's and clones.

Once the painting on my house is complete, I'll start working on the flowering tent.

Happy Harvests!

Hey krip. In for your high brix grow. Love your cab set up, have to put something together for a cloner and some bonsai moms.

Thanks, RF! I stopped by your grow earlier. Not sure if you're saying I need to put something together, or you need to put something together, for the clones & bonsais.

When I was running the SOG grow, I had picked up a TurboKlone TK-24 but, to be honest, I've had better success in Rapid Rooter cubes.

Also, and this is important, if using Doc's kit, I think you want to avoid the hydro roots you will get in any of those similar cloners (lots of great DIY's here, though! ;) )and should probably stick to something like the cubes.

Here's a great link to a post on maintaining Bonsai Mothers:

And, I highly recommend reading the Bonsai Sultan Method in my sig if you have ANY interest, at all, in breeding!

Hi Krip! I'd like to pop in from time to time. It's my first with Doc's kit. I'm 3 weeks into flower now and it's been smooth sailing! :surf: Cheers! LG

Hey Krip just dropping in for another hb adventure. Don’t think you’ll be disappointed with docs kit. Grows some of the best tasting bud I’ve even grown. Welcome aboard the hb train lol

Thanks, DS! You may have noticed I've been studying your thread for guidance, so good to have you here! :thumb:
