OK...so, it's been a while and wanted to update my 420 family & friends on what's been going on, which is absolutely nothing in terms of a grow.
I had to hire a lawyer in January to sue my insurance company after I got tired of them "playing games" by causing delays and denying damages that were obvious. I've basically been living in a construction zone, now, for about nine months!
I finally got a reasonable offer to settle last week and accepted it, but am still waiting for the release and the check so I can get the house finished.
Depending on how soon the rest gets done and where the housing market is, I may try to sell this place and move, in which case, I will hold off on putting a grow up since I'm not going to rely on my stealth abilities with potential home buyers doing walk-through's!
It will be a good time to sell with everything all redone, assuming the market is still high, and I've been wanting to move to a place with a lot more land and a better growing situation.
That being said, I've been having real growing withdrawals! I've got a bunch of great seeds, Doc Bud's Kit (which I haven't even unboxed from the USPS packaging!), new grow light, and new tent all picked out (not purchased yet). Talk about being all dressed up with no place to grow!
My dad has been doing great with the RSO capsules and decided to tell his doctor he was taking them because he feared it would show up in one of the many regular blood tests he has to take, although, I doubt they even test for cannabis. His doctor's response was, "Good! I'm glad you found something that helps!"
Finally, at the risk of sounding like I'm "preaching", there's something else I wanted to say...
A few weeks back, there was a 10-day period where I lost about six people close to me, or close to people who were close to me. One of those people was OMM. I've often said that what makes
such as great place is not all the great growers, but all the great growers who ALSO are great people. OMM was the perfect example of that! He was such a great person, the fact that he grew some fantastic "old school" meds, was secondary.
But, OMM was a pretty lucky guy. He lead a full and quite interesting life (for those the remember his "memoirs"!) and was married to a woman he truly loved.
In contrast, another one of the losses a few weeks ago was a good friend/neighbor whose perfectly healthy 15-month old grandson went to daycare in the morning and never came home!
Yet another was a good and former neighbor right around my age who had an infection that wasn't treated properly, wound up with sepsis, and died from organ failure within a few days of being admitted to a hospital.
Needless to say, it's been a tough few weeks.
We all know life is a fragile and delicate thing. We see it as growers every day with our plants which we pamper endlessly and fondly refer to as our "babies".
While this is certainly a worthy endeavor, and one I HIGHLY approve of and participate in, it's important to put it in perspective.
It's painful to lose a plant, but that can always be replaced with another seed, or another cutting, or even another strain.
The people in our lives cannot be replaced.
Don't wait to reconnect with your old friend or family member you've lost touch with. Don't wait to tell someone you love them or how important they are to you. And, don't wait to pursue your own dreams & happiness. You may not get another chance!
