I know, but a lot of the DIY LED guys on here seem to scoff at these. First bit of advice I got was to "run".....

I am considering testing it out on 1 plant rather than adding it to the tent. That should give me a better idea of it's worth rather than just tossing it in with my good light. I could even set it up so that my tents passive intake would cool it without having to fidget with the lil PC fan sitting in the cupboard .

I think I have enough seeds to play around with. I would just need to take the time to put together stuff I already have for a space bucket type thing and get some double side thermal tape. I am sure the neighbor has a soldering iron for the wiring.

Looking good there Ganga... Bigger pots bigger plants. Its an old saying been around for a while. It's true. I know I've seen guys growing in pop bottles. But still not getting a monster plant, its root size thing.

For the DDA - I'd let her go some more. I wait until my fan leaves are all nasty dried up and look like leather and then wait a week or 2. Wait it out, the weed will be stronger for sure. That one should get top heavy and fall over ... she looks great just a little early for me.
For the DDA, I don't really count days, just look at the plant.. they sorta just give up after a while thats when I chop. You won't get couch lock from this one.

GL with that LED... you'd be surprised. 50W is gonna be bright. I'd just throw it in there with the flowers and let er rip. Put a little 6" fan on it and it will be fine.

All the COBs run warm.. why they need a heat sink.

Oh definitely. I'm shooting for 2-4 more weeks. Right now she is barely 25% cloudy and hairs are about 25% orange. Neither are enough for me. Also no swelling to speak of yet.

Things that I have to discuss with the wife. She was pretty salty when I bought it in the first place, lol. If it does work out I may grab two more 30w chips in warm white, those say they are 2800-3000k. I'm new to COBs, very new. Going to go check out a chunk of scrap aluminum later today. Wouldn't want to spend too much money, lol.
 
Pulled the root ball out of SSDC's pot last night soni could sterilize my gravel for recycling. Should have taken pics, but it appears my stunted growth did not come from bad roots at all. They were the picture of perfection.

I have run 6? Plants in this size hempy previously with amazing growth above and below. One Thai pheno was over 4ft tall and yielded me about an ounce of great bud and 1-1 1/2 ounces of frosty larf.

I am wondering if the ph level had this substantial of an effect on my final plant size. It sure didn't hurt the quality. She didn't stretch very much and that makes me wonder if she was just too damn close to the 4000k qb to let herself go. Like I said, picture perfect despite the extremely short stature... hmmm
 
My theory would be that with the PH off the plant could only pull up a smaller amount of nutrients. And she grew to a size commensurate to the nutrients she was able to absorb.??
 
Bob, you're saying the DDA is a big yielder for you? I grew three and averaged just a tad over 1 oz per plant. They were my first hempy plants, and two were seeded. I just started a DDA seed which sprouted yesterday. I am considering growing it in a 3 gallon plastic pot I found at.............you guessed it..........The Dollar Tree. Where my smaller but taller are 1.3 gallon and have a very small footprint, the 3 gallon pot is a nice size I think for a bigger plant.
 
My last DDA in a 1 gallon ice cream pail would have yielded me over an ounce, easily, if she hadn't been seeded and starting to rot. This smaller DDA hempy won't reach an ounce if my figuring is right. I didn't have anything close to this problem with my sativas in the same exact pot/bucket/container.

I was told SSDC is a medium yielder in dwc. Genetics may have played a very big role I guess... But the rundown on that strain is this: all nugs were dense, sticky, and had an amazing sweet odor during the grow. The dried flowers were definitely more on the sour side. The effect was sativa, but the kind of sativa that makes me tired. My medical provider used to grow Hawaiian Sativa, that stuff did the same thing to me. Good medicine.

I would love to grow a sea of green with SSDC. Just have to get to making the seeds.
 
Our friends finally finished growing out those two bag seed seedlings I gave them in August or September. That means that I helped two people finish their first grow, and I get my damn mars300 back!!! Waiting was killing me. So, this weekend when she gets home, I will hang her in the tent and finally (I hope) I can stop worrying about more light.

I really play up that old light. I know it is way out of date and has at least one burnt diode, but it's always grown quality buds. Very happy that soon I will be able to use nearly my entire 10 square feet again.

Speaking of lights. Neighbor cut me a 12" chunk of aluminum threshold to use as a heat sink for the new 110v cob. Another penny saved. Now I just need some double sided thermal tape and I am ready to roll.

I told the wife that I think we should grow SOG SSDC's, Colloidal silver is now on the shopping list. Very, very, very excited to try my hand at making feminized seeds. I could fit maybe 14-18 of those 40oz hempys in my tent and still be able to maneuver around comfortably. Plant 3 every 2 weeks or something. It's a helluva goal to shoot for, but I fear mono-cropping and strain specific tolerances. Perpetual is hard.

Just waiting for saturday to get my light back. Overall I am being impatient.

My seedlings sure like to be stretchy for no reason. The light is not too far away. May have to hookup a couple cfls to tame them down. Adding 2 23w cfls would, when I put my Mars back in this weekend, put me up to 39w/sqft. I have room for 4... But then the electric bill begins the dreaded creep upward. Good thing I only have the lights on 11 hours a day.

Editing to add: wife picked up an ounce of Purple Wookie x Skywalker OG. Said she has been high for hours from one bowl. This makes me happy
 
In the fall and winter I look at the lights as a supplemental source of heat. My heat doesn't come on when the lights are on in the tent. Well, down to about 35 degrees anyway. Below that temperature it pops on for a couple minutes then back off.

No DDAs are NOT big yielders FOR ME. Some folks do well... I haven't seen any pics of big plants lately but I've herd of em. I do about a zip dried per plant average. I've grown many.

For reversing plants:

Look into Sodium Thiosulphate + silver nitrate

AKA - Silver Thiosulfate Solution or STS

Its faster and you don't have to spray as long and cheaper.

But isn't the STS very sensitive? Does it store well? What is the shelf life of a batch once you mix it all up?

I have been using this stuff with great success. $20.00 for a 16oz bottle

The NL X GG#4 looks like it's starting to catch up with the Sensi x Nirvana NL plant. I notice too the NL X GG#4 doesn't have the small leaves the Nirvana NL plant has, so it's showing a bit more GG#4 traits.
 
Sitting here preparing a gift package for a friend and thinking about what I'm going to plant next.

I have some Double Sour Purple Kush seeds that I want to run. There aren't very many seeds of it that exist in the world, at least under that name. I was told by the breeder that they are a phenotype of the famed Las Vegas Purple Kush. I want to grow them out, but I need to make seeds and already have a Male planned to be the next stud... decisions decisions

I know for sure that I will be running 2 testers from my (Columbian Red Point x Unknown) x SSDC. Those beautiful seeds are begging to be grown.

I agree. She started a little slow and didn't show sex until several days after her cousin, but once NL x gg4 started showing she revealed a lot of future bud sites. Doesnt look like she will stretch as much as Sensi x Nirvana NL. Exciting times in the tent.
