Daily Update: Dark Devil Auto - Day 35

I've been cross-referencing the journal and discovered that back on page 98 I erroneously listed a second Day 21. I have corrected that mistake today with this revision. Sorry for the confusion. You'd think I'd mark it on my calendar.

I had to leave early this morning, quickly enough that I didn't get to even peek in, and I got home long after lights out, but before the sun set, so I snuck a peek in during sleep mode. Do not do this to a photo flowering plant! This is an Auto, so I can risk this light exposure. Even so, I took three quick shots and closed it up.

It's not every day you get to see them when they're sleeping. Fascinating. The last pictures I posted were immediately after lights came on and you can see her recovering from sleep, but this is a first for me to open it up at this time of the day.

All tucked in for the night.

Quickly filling out the space.

I almost didn't do a post today, but thought better of it on my way home. This is a big part of what keeps me sane these days.

While Dale and I were sneaking a buzz in his room I was breaking up the bud and realized he couldn't see the trichomes without magnification either, so I took this one to show him just exactly what his wife was capable of growing.

image24140.jpg

He was suitably impressed. :laughtwo::green_heart:

A sweet and consistent six fragment-sized hits to satisfaction. This is the THC Bomb Auto, almost two full months into the cure. Within the past two days the chamomile profile has begun to modulate towards a distinctly citrus profile. Intriguing.

I hope everyone had a wonderful day. Ours was way too emotionally challenging and I have a big fight coming tomorrow, but we managed to pull a decent day out of it and even managed to laugh frequently. Cannabis makes all the difference. I left him wonderfully buzzed for the evening. It's the best I can do for now.

Spreading joy at every opportunity. May you be blessed to do the same.

:Namaste:

She's coming along great!

A talk by Daniel Chamovitz, author of What a Plant Knows. This was time well spent. The book looks like a must read.

This made me wonder if trimming living mulch makes the cannabis nervous?

HA! Made me think the same thing.

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

I went from Daniel Chamovitz to the BBC "How Plants Communicate and Think". Now I'm lost in Nature's "What Plants Talk About". What a ride!

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

I'll never look at plants the same way again.

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

I am in the grow room with the laptop jamming Pandora lol.. Me and the plants are rocking our to some Dick Dale surf music right now hehe... oh marley just came on.. Time for bud building.. They need the air we breathe too :) So I will sing to them in my awful voice, no woman no cry!!!

Daily Update: Dark Devil Auto - Day 36

Gave the pot the 1/4 turn to balance the light. Then I went and mixed up a coconut water drench.

Coconut Water/Aloe Vera Juice Drench (per 1/2 gallon drench)
1/2 cup young coconut water
1/4 cup aloe vera juice
Enough good water to make 1/2 gallon

Stirred it all together and split it between the pots. Then I filled the reservoirs. They each took a little more than 3 cups.

We caught her waking up. I have too much to do this morning to wait until later.

So fascinating the way each new plant has it's own look, it's own individual expression. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm playing with a new lighting schedule too, and the 11/13 is going to bring out different traits.

By now I'm sure you know I'm a sucker for beautiful leaves.

One last look.

image24171.jpg

On to the cleaning. I did as much as I could before I needed to rescue Dale from his little slice of hell. I was shooting for, at the very least, clearing one wall and half of the bookcase/headboard. I got the wall cleared and about a third of the bookcase, so that's 1/4 of the job done. There's an unbelievable amount of dust. (Sigh) You'd think I was distracted or something.

Positive view - it will be spotless when I start the tent. Definitely a good thing.

I went through emotional hell earlier today, overcome with the sense of inadequacy, my inability to help him heal any faster or fight for better health care. Understanding that the emotional pain is self-inflicted doesn't make it hurt any less. It amazes me, though, how in the midst of utter despair, sobbing uncontrollably, I am aware of the slow but steady increase in peacefulness, knowing with certainty that I will make my way back to joy. It's almost humorous how that determined optimism stands up and demands to be heard. She wins out every time. :laughtwo:

You all have a good day. Sprinkle that joy with abandon. Life is sweet. Celebrate it.

:Namaste:

In all the talk of aging, being old, and what it gives a person ... there's seldom a good solid discussion of the awesome power it brings.

Literally jaw-dropping awesome. We know how to get past stuff. :cheesygrinsmiley:

It doesn't get any less emotional, but we know how to circumnavigate our way through it.

... so there's that ... :Namaste:

I've been trying to get more familiar with the additives used for a no-till approach. Starting with young coconut water. This link is an in depth look.

You want young green coconuts which should get you somewhere around 10 - 12 oz. of coconut water. In a ripe coconut (brown hard shells) there is only about 3 - 4 tablespoon. These days you can find pure young coconut water in the refrigerated section of your local grocery.

Use at a minimum 1/4 cup per gallon of water. I apply it at a heavier dose once a week, regardless of where the plant is in its cycle.

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

I haven't been able to find young coconuts locally consistently for a decent price, so I bought the powdered stuff from BAS.

Growing Aloe so I don't have to buy it, but still buying coconut powder :(

I would think music that has not been synthetically changed or created would be best for cannabis or plants in general. For example, I think classical music would benefit the plants much more than say pop or rock music.

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

You mean you can plant and amend, keep reusing, chop and replant next to it? Like a garden? Craziness.

That right there ^^ is how CC got my lights to turn on! DING YOU BET - Just like a garden. We've been doing no-til outdoors in our raised beds for many many years. I cant for the life of me figure out how I was going to use a store bought bottle of chems/salts to "feed" my ladies. That's crazy!

Here ya go SS - just for you, hope it brightens your day and finds your elbows in soil and green in your garden. Our outdoor flowers are showing some stuff so we brought some inside before hard freeze we had the other night ... glad that didn't last long.

Here's a top view of my Sweet Dark Devil - there's red in the center of the flower if you look close. This plant is going to be nuts. I've tried to get 3 more seeds going to no avail... getting pricey!

Hey there SS - I think I'm a few days ahead of yours and we know what a few days is with quality autos. It feels like 3 weeks with regulars. I'm all about results.

Here she is out on the roof getting a little REAL sun - the roof is even painted silver to reflect the light!

Looking like a little stretch here ... freaks me out I'm on a 20/4 light schedule and she's flowering!! My first auto thanks to you SS for showing me what can happen!! I've got alfalfa in there as a companion/cover crop. Seems to be working. i hope you don't mind me sharing pics ... I actually deleted one for stealth reasons!!

Ya bb, I started my first outdoor hugel/no till/raised bed this year for some veggies. I'm a very sarcastic guy, and all my soil is full of minerals. :high-five: My inspirational organic growing friend asked for some glacial rock dust to replace his azomite last night. Spreading the word...

In older studies, classical music was best. In the late 70s, synthesized ambient music. In my house, it would be Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Blues, Classic Rock, or anything else where I like to sing along. If the person is happy with the music, the plants are happy with the music.

I don't know if I linked to that information here, or from an old Joe Rogan podcast.

What about coconut milk in the supermarket? It's often in the Hispanic foods area.

I garden on a smaller scale than you 36, at least for now, so I get away with purchasing a single box of pure stuff in the grocery. Diluted down it gives me enough for about three waterings for the two 7 gallon pots. I think I'm going to stop in an Indian grocery and see what they have. Sprouted corn is an excellent alternative and one that Cootz has recommended on more than one occasion to avoid the high cost of coconuts. I haven't looked at the powdered yet, but it's probably going to be the way I go too.
