I have my Callanetics space back again. Maybe tomorrow (wistful sigh).

Now for some dinner and that buzz I never took the break for. I think Buddha buds tonight. I'm already feeling a little giggly. :laughtwo::green_heart:

Gosh, that was so much fun!!!

I recycle mine 4 times.....could go longer if I added more promix.

I've had the soil re-tested and the mineral broadcast re-formulated for 3rd and 4th rounds of use. As long as people stay within reason, the soil can be re-used up to 6 times....but I find quality starts to decrease much after that.

I've bought ONE bag of Promix in the last 6 months....the rest is all recycled soil.

I'd like us to work together to see if there's any way to get a HB no-till. Six runs is impressive, but I think it could be six years. I don't understand the kit enough yet to figure out how, but my gut says there must be a way. The testing thing is a challenge, I'll grant you that. I'd like to see how long we could keep one running.

Question: do I need to turn the HB soil while it cooks?

Sue, I'm guessing docs soil could be done no till, but it would take retesting and top dressing. This is just a guess, but I would imagine you'd have to get the re amended soil out for a cycle, or suffer subpar (compared to normal) results. Maybe use a cover crop at this time, so foliars and drenches could be continued and observed. I could be way off, and doc will have the correct answer. Just my rambling mind.

This is what I'm thinking too 36, so I'm hoping Doc can figure it out with me. He's already expressed a desire to see me add mulching to the process, so maybe......

my last grow was on rootballs from grow prior to that..no till..tiered, .

This thread's like a run-a-way train. 1 week offline = many days catching up. So glad I did. Your soils both look super. Honestly, you could probably throw a seed in the general vicinity, throw it in a cave, let the bears pee on it, and still get good herb.

Are you doing any training this go 'round?
All my best to you and Mr. Dale.
Oh, almost forgot: thx again for the compliment you paid me the other day. Made me blush.
Love and respect

So let's find a way to amend the tiered no-till to carry it for a couple years. With good LOS it's driven by the weekly teas and drenches, the same way HB is done. The vermicompost we cultivate is a major part of the replenishment and we tend to be selective about what we feed the bin with the expectation that the vermicompost will balance the scales. I believe a well thought out vermicompost may be the most important part of the puzzle for successful LOS no-tills. That sad Wiggle Worm stuff.... makes me wonder what they fed those worms. I know, it's the organic gardener, enamored with rich organic matter speaking there. But worms process minerals too and it's those minerals that the HB soil would need.

What would one feed an HB worm bin if you planned on replenishing? What I don't understand yet is why our HB soil would become depleted with all the teas and drenches? See, I have to keep reminding myself that the biota in HB are playing a different tone. Are they chewing up the minerals at a faster rate? So much I don't understand yet, and only a month left to study.

I dunno..Im not so sure I want bear pee on my happy stuff. But then theres always bud washing. :)

Ahhh Ranger, I love the way you make me laugh. It's entirely possible that once this perpetual grow gets under way some training will be called for. I think I may start with Greytail's approach of simply bending the main stalk to encourage the other colas and bud sites to a uniform height. Running 11/13 means some containment in height, but there's bound to be a lanky one somewhere along the line.

Love and respect right back at you, you amazing wordsmith you.

Sue, the amendments and recharge will only last so long. It has to be replenished some how. Our pots are basically fuel tanks. We refill when needed or it slows to a stop. Without the amendments being correct, adding organic matter, and leftovers from drenches, I would think the foliars wouldn't provide as efficiently. From my understanding, the kit needs some balance that comes from the total package.

I did 11/13 last time and my sativa dom strain more than quadrupled in size. Started as a one foot shrub and ended as a five foot bush. This happened to all three. The Mazar stayed shorter. I look forward to running this strain again with a better soil and more knowledge overall.

red wigglers, FTW!

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

Sweetsue..what type of worms can I put into my larger pots?

Red wrigglers will work the top surface, but you may need to add some mulch, because they're composters. Night crawlers are deep divers and will churn the pot vertically. Both varieties are beneficial. Lots of tilling by the worms means no need for tilling by us, so the undisturbed biota can grow stronger.

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

Easy way to gather some worms. Throw some compost down, on grass, gravel, dirt, whatever. Leave it the hell alone for a few days, the longer the better (within reason). Return to the pile and check for worms. The worms you find will do great in your pots providing you keep its new home at a tolerable environment. No drying out the soil, and mulch helps prevent their fear of light.
