You can preserve by freezing? This is news to me. How long will it keep frozen? Do you need to store it in any particular type of container to protect it for freezing? I would think vacuum sealed would be most beneficial, eh? Or would vacuum sealing in plastic damage the trichomes?

I know nothing! But, physics is physics, Electrical, Magnetic, all comes down to Chemistry and those electrons circling the atomic structure e.g. electromagnetism. Decarboxylation over long period of time is what gives you the "cure". A HUGE part of that process is oxidation. If you keep the oxygen levels low you should be able to cure over a much longer period of time. If you want to store something for ever eliminate the oxygen altogether. Vacuum is one way but there are others. You could use nitrogen gas for instance. Like the winery type do to keep the wine fresh and not breathing they add nitrogen. It removes the oxygen without having to vacuum. I don't know anything about storing weed long term but I was going to try I would use this method. Of course no light too as light energy can pop off those electrons over time. And that's all I'm gonna say about that. :)

The ulcer on Dale's heel has increased in size from 25mm to 38x38mm in size since the 20th of last month. Is there no end to this bad dream?

The vascular surgeon is scheduling an angiogram in the next two weeks to try and make room for more blood flow to the foot. He's a straight shooting guy (one of the things I really like about him) and he was concerned. We've been here before. This time it's a bit scarier. We weren't prepared for him to lose both legs. Breathe girl. Breathe.

He can't even eat his brownies yet because his stomach is so upset. I can't have my own because how rude would that be? What a frustration!

I can't figure out how what you said here correlates with my statement. What was false? I was speaking of the pharma buying off our legislative system to gain the marketing advantage. What did I miss or what did you read in my comment that wasn't intended?
I am a day behind here but I hope that everyone has calmed down by the time I get caught up. I miss one day and I am 4 pages at 40 posts/page behind. Dutty we are all trying to do our best and learning from each other here. :Love: I think SweetSue, the most recent MOTM, deserves a higher level of inspirational content than what is being thrown down right now(yesterday at this point) :)

Was Elvis the best singer/performer the world will ever see or ever has seen? How about Lennon? Is Jimi still the best guitarist the world has ever seen?

No....but no one can deny that not only did they make their place in history, but they also defined an entire genre of music and popularized it in a way that hadn't been seen before. While there are better singers today, and better guitar players, NO ONE can deny that these rockstars paved the way for others to follow.

That's who we're talking about when we invoke Ed Rosenthal, or Jack Herer. These men were willing to literally live in cages in order to further the cannabis cause. 'Nuff said. They are rockstars, and far be it from me to have anything negative to say about any of them! Did they grow the best cannabis the world has ever seen? Probably not....but they were willing to go to jail for it.

Hydroponics: Is it sustainable? Is it the healthiest way to cultivate? I say no on both counts.....but the simple fact of the matter is that hydroponics brought cannabis to the masses! Without hydro producing all that bud in all those basements/warehouses all over the country we WOULD NOT BE LOOKING AT LEGALIZATION TODAY.

Hydroponics has been a fantastic blessing to all of us, either directly or indirectly in that it has opened to the door to home cultivation....which is what most of us do.

I grow 40-50 or so plants at a time, sometimes less. Dutty grows several hundred percent more than that! He's placed in a cannabis cup......he pays good money to get his stuff tested and he's trying to improve all the time.

Dutty is "in the arena" in a big way. Hobby growers can criticize, but it is not they who deserve credit or recognition for pointing out ways that Dutty (or Ed Rosenthal!) is falling short! While they might make a valid point, the simple fact is that Dutty has grown more weed in the last year than many here will grow over their lifetimes.....and he's not even in the same league as Ed, Jack or Jorge.

So, I humbly offer the following unsolicited advice:

1.) always respect those who grow cannabis, no matter how they grow it.
2.) Learn from the success and failures of those who have gone before us and try to do better.
3.) with regard to learning from those who have gone before, realize that in a years WE will be the ones "who have gone before" and others will come along and improve on what we've done....

Respect those who have broken down barriers at huge cost to themselves! Take the knowledge they have provided and use it to improve.

The bottom line is that the consumer wants the best product. Dutty knows more about getting quality cannabis out to many people than almost anyone here, including me!

So.....let's all embrace every aspect of cultivation and find a fit that works for us, based on our palates, budgets, ethics and ideals.

That is my unsolicited advice!

But I feel like there is something innately wrong with destroying some of the most valuable life forms on this planet, the very critters that work so hard to grow our food for us, so we can dump chemicals in their place to do a job they were destined to do. It smacks of insanity to me. The damage this agricultural attitude has had planet-wide is a proven fact and yet we continue it in our closets and grow rooms. I'll never tell you you can't do it, but it's definitely not for me. Just sayin'.
I couldn't agree more SweetSue. The vast dead zones in our seas, rivers, and swamps are largely due to the ridiculous use of fertilizers - its the most cost efficient for factory farms and stupid home owners putting it down to get that green lawn(fuck what a waste) - and the most devastating to our planet. Add to that the use of insecticides like roundup to kill your dandelions - Its glyphosate people - it kills bees and butterflies those awesome critters that do all the pollination without which we would be doomed to pollinating by hand. And then Monsanto that invented that shit comes up with genetically engineered corn, soy, cotton, wheat, etc. to survive the glyphosate and pays officials to approve a patent on it. Now they own the seeds. I've said it many times, it won't be long before Monsanto patents MMJ and RECMJ seeds. It is very important to learn how to grow like SweetSue using the knowledge of the ancients to survive this currently doomed planet. LOS is the shit :) and it needs to be spread throughout the world. Go Vegan non GMO, Organic only.

Wow Doc, that was inspirational. Your speech truly motivated me on being a better grower in a way that respects the ones who did before me what i'm doing right now and trying to improve on.

Big props to Dutty Panty, he is indeed "in the ring" when it comes down to it and we should be honored to have him around. I myself have asked him to help me before and he selflessly did with a friendly attitude, he is not only a huge MJ connoisseur but also a down to earth guy.

Everyday i feel blessed to have this powerful community to rely upon, for without some people in here i wouldn't even know the basics. I think everyone should be thankful for the limitless information floating around here. Decades back secret circles of stealth growers shared this valuable stuff only to people among them, it only takes a second to hold and appreciate the beauty of what this forum has become.

I have been a bit hit or miss lately, so it appears I have managed to have timed my re-arrival for peak egotism on this thread. Since everyone has a little bit of ego, and everyone appears to be sharing their ego "Loud and Proud" here. I am going to share a little story. Sue knows who I am, or at least *How* to figure out who I am. The following is googleable.

I am not, and I want to be clear NOT, the man I was 10 years ago.

Then, some of the largest magazines in the world titled me with "Best In the World" at what I did. My face was on the homepage of some of the most hit websites or print magazines viewed by millions weekly. My name today is still extremely googleable. I have been published internationally by a large Nations largest newspapers as rebuttal to an EU Commissioner speech to their Nation.

I have made and lost millions of dollars, some times with in hours of each other. I have been paid to be published over 100 times with the word " Guru " affixed by others on the topic in question. I chat and email with people who manage or are worth over a Billion dollars. Money was my game, My Ego was the score.

I bought homes on hill sides with security gates that would open as I raced my collection of over priced "they cost small homes when new"cars into our driveway at full speed. Or for context, if I checked the mail. I could go 0-50 mph in my driveway before getting to the three story home parking lot area. I had a brown bear attack and give up trying to get through my security fences. I have played the game.

The above is pure ego. It is a call to wow you about who I was, or who I could be today. I stated at the beginning, its not who I am today. Why is that? Read on for how ego destroys, and only what is left is who you are...

Because I had a BIG ASS EGO then. I was the BEST in the world. I made my friends millionaires regularly. I touched stuff and it turned to gold. In some cases literally. (ok, it was a gold mine, and another story). It was about ME. It was about HOW I changed peoples lives. It was about how "MY TALENT" was the driving force for other peoples good. Its all true and its all BULL SHIT.

Because I was a BSD then, I expected people to give me the respect of the old guys before me. I demanded that others shut up and listen to me. I was this fountain NOW, look at me because I have done more for EVERYONE around me AND will do in their lifetime for others. I picked up the tabs at bars, restaurants or parties.

So whats changed? My ego. My internal stress levels. My choices in life. My ability to enjoy my life with out making others exist inside of my own ego echo chamber. I sit and listen to others now. I dont make others see how smart I am or success over them. I dont need my ego feed by being on stage and having the masses adulate me.

Today, I live in a leased home with a drive way full of old cars. My friends have saved, spent or lost their money. I dont even live in the same State, let alone state of mind as I did then. Today, I care for my 90+ year old parents who still live in their home 2 miles away but they cant care full time for themselves now. I am NOT the person I was before. Today, I am happy.

Hopefully, some of you can some day, can give your ego a rest and step back from being about yourself, and what you have done, and how you deserve the same respect as the others...

because...

you dont.

You are not them. You will NEVER be them. You are YOU. Once you come to rest with that reality, you can start to actually be who you are. And if you still need the stage, the crowds, the adulation of the masses to know what the balance is inside your heart, then I guess that is who you are.

I'm an old/former competition shooter who was lucky to be trained by some of the best,, if not the best in that arena, a guy named Carlos Hathcock kicked me in the pants a few times along the way. And over a period of time I was able to call him my friend.

Mr Hathcock was one of the most humble men I've ever met. And in tight shooting circles, even long after his death,,, he is still a legend. Speak bad about Carlos in front of the wrong people and you might be eating from a straw. That's no exaggeration.

Today, there are a bunch of shit hot guys out there tearing out the x ring at Camp Perry and other notable spots. And they got gear and ammo that Carlos would love to have had. I'm certain they could teach him a thing or two, and I'm more certain he'd be all ears. But, I can guarantee you each and everyone of those shooters gives thanks and props to Hathcock and the few trailblazers like him.

Anyway, I'm of topic but my point is,, it's easy to follow someone's lead, and sometimes easier to let your ego get the best of you. Forget where you came from.

But, keep this in mind, you're a follower.

SO, never forget those who blazed the path ahead of you. And always respect their effort to make your life easier/better/whatever.

I'm done preaching, let's get back to discussing how to get better, whatever method you choose.

I grew up around men, who whispered that name with reverence. I am talking the old 80's A team in LA that was disbanded due to a civilian training exercise at a restaurant in the valley, ie some CS and a civilian kid with asthma if you remember/know the story.

Before that event, as a kid, that same Team used to kidnap me for training missions when I would visit my Uncle. There are not a lot of households that will allow a 9 yo to be kidnapped in his sleep by armed guys B&E training on weekends... A member of that Team grew up in my household and would leave a ransom note to "Aunt Mona & Uncle Ev" saying where I could be found (his house and time).

I would wake up to auto fire in the desert, and a hot chocolate and donut in the pick up waiting for me. Ironically, they still had a safe house for the old team in LA. At a funeral in the 90's a bunch of old men slipped me business cards with their contact info. The old Generation were honestly a different breed then today.

I am a firm believer in giving respect to the older crowd, I just have an issue with kids today demanding what I also demanded at my peak... funny enough.

With respect to you, Dutty. There is a reason why it doesn't make sense to "agree to disagree."

And don't mistake me, I have respect for you. You are experimenting, studying and applying your knowledge scientifically. I totally respect science.

The problem with scientific inquiry is that it develops an excellent view of whatever it chooses to study, in isolation from whatever it didn't choose to study.

Your excellent growing methods and results are firmly within the top tier of the agricultural revolution solution to raising plants. Inputs are piped in from mining operations, power generation locations, chemical and materials manufacturing facilities, and waste is shipped out to remote locations.

On your grow room floor, science says you are doing a superb job, and you are! Kudos to you and I also have respect for Jorge Cervantes, Shantibaba, Jack Herrer and others who have sacrificed so much more than I still ever be called upon to sacrifice.

BUT (you knew there was a but)

From the hippy side of life, you are just another farmer destroying the planet. And science from a world view, a view of the sustainability of human civilization, says that the modem agricultural revolution is destructive. The standard model of food production in this century is making the planet unlivable in centuries to come.

I am part of this, we all are part of this. I grow with electric lights, plastic pots... but if I agree to disagree I am ignoring our impact on the planet and the lives of our children and grandchildren.

This realization that our civilization is in collapse, that the climate is permanently changing, that the west coast of the USA is falling into desertification, that Florida and Louisiana and many coasts are going underwater is pretty important stuff.

In my opinion, 30% better yield is not worth the destruction of arable land in Canada or Colorado or Brazil. And the funny thing is, when farmers have followed nature, they usually find that nature did as better job than they expected, sometimes better than all their efforts. IMO, when you count the collateral damage of modern farming, it's as destructive as war.

We just use a hand full, sometimes a few leaves more than that, added to the spinach, kale, italian parsley, nuts(sunflower, raw almond, pecan), oats, flax, chia, banana, orange, grapes, we also use Maca powder(a root related to radish family), Moringa leaf powder. We wouldn't have CBD1 and CBD2 receptors if we were not supposed to feed it the CBD to begin with. But there also the CBC CBN etc. A very healthy plant to eat. As far as the other nutritional components - if its in the soil then its in the plant. Plants are what they eat and we are what we eat. :Love:

Would have responded earlier but we had a power outage for 2.5 hours and then I had to reset the lights etc. for my grow.

Outside the front door of this hospital they have the loveliest Zen garden. It's a place to get away from the trauma of the medical challenges and reflect in quiet with nature. It's surprising how isolated you can feel there, right next to all that hustle and bustle. As you enter the garden you pass this bed of equisetum. This year I'm sneaking some to use in the mulch level of my LOS pots.
