Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL - LED

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

We know an outdoor grower who drives drywall screws into the base of the main stalk of his plants. Says "pissing them off" makes them grow more vigorously. I don't do that, lol. But it works for him.

I think what happens is this hearty plant kicks into high gear when it is under attack.

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

I did find that interesting brother. Thanks for sharing. It had me thinking about the effects of a well-executed cure.

GhettoGro, I agree, the potency is in the genetics. Take that potent genetics and plant it into crap soil under insufficient lights and you end up with crap potency. Take that same genetics and plant the seed into soil designed to offer the plant everything it could possibly desire, under adequate light and maintaining environmental control and you end up with superior potency. Good genetics sets the potential. Good gardening practices bring that potential to life.

Great point. Always provide the best environment and the rest will work itself out. I have grown plants side-by-side in my setup and one might suck while the one next to it will blow the top of your head off. Don't discount genetics. I will not plant schwag-bag seeds because I have so much invested in my setup.

I am still researching this "living soil" thing. You got it going on, Sue :)

Keep in mind it's producing some of that resin as a protective defense.

So at certain specific times it can really help. I'm not into heavy bandage I just decapitate them that's about it.

Hey all,,,,my 2cents. Bubbleman as he's refered to ,absolutely knows his stuff.....it's his life, and he's continually worked hard at it. I myself believe everything he says, and would compare him to "our" Doc Bud. I've got over 200 runs thru one of his first 8bag,5,gal'. bag sets and always look forward to having enough top shelf trim around for a few batches of bubblehash. If made correctly, there's no vegetable matter in it...at all, just gland heads filled with joy. As far as potency goes and age of produce.....curing can increase THC levels by as much as 15% ,if done properly. Quite simply put , Light, Heat and O2 are what degrade those wonderfull terpine profiles we all covet so much. This is why using glass to store our final product is by far the best way.....then toss it in the freezer if your satisfied with it and want to keep it for a while.
There i go again Sue....ramble,ramble.... Cheers eh....Duggs.:Namaste:

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

Yeah. Aside from resin, The terpenes that we love are there to repel pests. I think, and find it very interesting. I listened intently when cootz was discussing this on the Adam Dunn show.

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

Under adequate light? Please enlighten sue. That's a stress as well

I would have to agree with you Dutty, given some of the lumens you guys light up your grows with. :laughtwo:

Don't get me wrong - give me access to the light and I'm going to do the same thing. It's the only way I have to bring the sun indoors. I understand the irony of me talking about trying not to stress the plants and using stressors of my own, but I'm still new to this and my intent is to learn how to garden with as little stress to the living plant as possible. Being new, I'll need to learn the lessons of beneficial stress as I go.

I was thinking of it in personal human terms just now. Would I have grown into the loving, joyful woman I am without the pressures of stresses that made me choose to develop survival techniques that encouraged joy over anger?

Give me time Dutty. I'm not only new to gardening cannabis but I'm an aging hippy tree-hugging lost in my hippy ways. I'll learn as I go. You'll be sure to be there egging me on I hope.

Hey Duggs that increase by 15% is completely false I can provide any documentation needed.

Once the plant is chopped it will not increase period. It's physically not possible.

This mis information goes back to idiots soaking root stalks while drying to further increase which it still doesn't.

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

I was on of those idiots Duggs about 15 years ago. You cant increase once chopped. It's game over then no overtime production on resin has stopped. (go Wisconsin)

Where did you read this I'd like to go drop some knowledge

On schedule SS

I know. What are we running? 6-10 pages a day or some insane speed like that? Crazy interesting though. Posting as fast as I can and still running to keep up. WooHoo!!!:laughtwo::green_heart:

Terpenes are the true key. That's why each strain effects people differently. I don't have links to back this up but I can tell you this. Each terpene reacts different to each persons neurons and they tend to well open the pathway for the thc so terpenes are even more important

That's why you hear me talk about terpene profile so much when I'm testing strains.

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

I remember the "saoking" era when everyone though that a slower cure would increase potency. I tried it. Didn't see any potency increase but it did improve flavor and make some nice "tasting" nug.

I'm like all of you. I want to find that magic bullet to make gold from shiz, but after a few years of growing I know it starts with genetics. Frosting don't matter to me (unless I want to make hash). I have had stuff that looked like it was sprayed with powdered sugar that was crap. I have had other that didn't even frost up that would kick azz.

I have only notice potency decrease with age. That is just my experience.

Ramble away duggan. Love the lilt of your virtual voice.

You can preserve by freezing? This is news to me. How long will it keep frozen? Do you need to store it in any particular type of container to protect it for freezing? I would think vacuum sealed would be most beneficial, eh? Or would vacuum sealing in plastic damage the trichomes?

Look at what you started in my head with your ramble.:laughtwo::green_heart:

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

Maybe we should have another thread on "genetics/potency" ?

Sorry for the high-jack, SweetSue.

:)

This is a thread that defies hijacking. We're here to discuss and share.

I agree, every person likes something different. My schwag may be your gold and vice-versa. As I stated earlier, my wife likes an early sativa chop but I like a late indica chop. :)

I like this guy! Such a "pot-nerd" lol

His articulate descriptions are great. But, who can keep weed for 7 years without smoking some? :P

if he grew enough and had several jars...he could..like a case of vintage wine. :)
i plan on doing that for at least comparing my grows from noob to less noob. :)

At what point have you noticed a decrease from age? I'm just curious about your experience. I never had enough to ever have any left over. This is a new world to me. :laughtwo:

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

I have an off-the-wall question of my own. I eat cooked buds all the time and have actually come to enjoy the taste of the plant matter. Does anyone know if there's any nutritional value to cannabis? I guess I could google. Be right back.

Actually, uh.. never...lol Unless it was that 5 year old bud I found under the couch..haha

Good call, Sue ;)
