SweetSue's Perpetual 3.0 - The Hempy/HB Hybrid Grow

What are the container sizes (capacity and height, if you've got them handy) on the Thin Mint GSC you just harvested and its child?

BtW, in case I failed to mention it when I was lucky enough to visit or in the time since, your apartment is very tastefully decorated. Those who buy into the stereotypical descriptions of cannabis consumers/growers would be amazed.

HARVEST: Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies (Day 110, flip + 72)

IMG_241531.JPG

The last of the Osmo girls, she was one of the easiest plants I've grown. I damaged her leaves right at the beginning and she pressed on regardless. She's had me thinking about doing another Osmocote Plus attempt. It doesn't get any easier than water only.

This particular chemovar has the most pronounced limonene presence, strongly lemon in tone, of any plant I've grown. That suggests a thrilling and soaring cerebral euphoric experience. I can't wait to try her. :slide: Right now, the entire apartment reeks of lemony cannabis. :yahoo:

Starting weight. She has long, heavy branches. They'll account for a lot of this weight. She'll be dried in the dehydrator, so I'll have a more precise number to work with later.

All washed and dripping. Those long stems made it easy to spin in my hands, throwing off a significant amount of the water.

The rest dripped off. :cheesygrinsmiley:

The processing

She was destined for the dehydrator. Her buds are much more dense than the Devil's Carnival. I'll let the dehydrator run the full 48 hours initially before I even check.

Popcorn got clipped into a jar.

IMG_248926.JPG

Buds went into the dehydrator, stems attached for the beginning cycle.

Popcorn.

IMG_249725.JPG

Those weights, using my standard calculation of dry weight being 20% of the wet weight, means I can expect in the neighborhood of 19 grams when she's finished letting go of all the water.

Into the freezer with the rest of the popcorn. When I have enough I'll make butter with it.

Ahhhh...... Satisfaction. :blunt: Now for a righteous buzz and a session of Callanetics. I never got that far on the last harvest. This time I'll be smarter. :battingeyelashes: Afterwards I'm going to reward myself for two successful harvests in one week and take myself out to dinner.

Continue on with your own joyful day. :ciao:
Thanks sweetie for the show, I have the same dehydrator and I used it to make banana chips and Apple chips for my sweet wife...
I admire you to grow such nice plants in an unbur apartment and your willingness to teach the new growers...
Found out something about sue .
She's a Steelers fan.

I love that you get as excited as I do. :laughtwo: :yahoo:

Does that harvested thin mint have a certain green to it. It looks mint green to me on my phone. Something appealing about it from my POV.
Cheers happy harvest.

It did indeed have the minty green coloration, but I don't know if that was natural, or a response to my damaging her leaves with too much light in the beginning. It'll be interesting to see how the clone does. I'm expecting purple leaves before harvest with her.

The mother was in a 2-liter bottle and the clone is in at least four times that volume.

Thank you TS. I feel the place is rather bohemian in decorative flavor, but I find it very relaxing.

Why thank you for the lovely compliments WannabRN. And :welcome: to the joyful journal. Now you know how easy it can be to use that dehydrator to dry your cannabis. :battingeyelashes:

It's stretching it to call me a Steelers fan these days. I don't even own a TV any longer. Gave mine away after the husband passed away, and haven't missed it at all. It means I don't get to watch games anymore without making a supreme effort, something I've not bothered to do. I still support them in spirit, as you can see by the presence of the Terrible Towel. I don't even know who plays for them anymore.

The veins still flow black and gold though. I don't think that'll ever change. :laughtwo:

The Aftermath

One girl harvested means one more spot open under the flowering lights.

IMG_251524.JPG

I started by pulling UltraDawg 1.1 from the tiny closet. She'll fit better in the open slot in the finish tent.

IMG_246525.JPG

Cleaned her up a bit.

IMG_246733.JPG

IMG_246832.JPG

Dropped her in with her new neighbors.

IMG_246930.JPG

Next up, move Dark Slide from the bathroom to the tiny closet and place her in the empty spot left by UD 1.1.

IMG_247035.JPG

Now for the Jamaican. Removing her from the veg shelf makes a world of difference.

A happy brood if ever I saw one. :blunt:

I just sent you one of my long and rambling PMs, so I'm posting this here, instead. That Blueberry x White Widow that turned out to be male... I stripped all the leaves off of it and its tiny little clone. The clone was nothing but a 6" completely bare stalk in a 6-ounce clear disposable cup (that's only half full of soil). I placed it on the counter to knock the soil out of into the back yard and dispose of the stalk, then got distracted and forgot all about it...

Seven extremely small (less than a quarter-inch) branches, each with a couple of the tiniest leaves I've ever seen. LMAO!

Cannabis. Sure is hard to kill (on purpose, at least ;) ) . It hasn't even had any water, and the light... isn't really adequate to read with.

Hey sue I just received the new dehydrator
420-magazine-mobile1346177771.jpg

I decided not to cut my tree till tomorrow a quick question for you, why do u rinse your buds and I have read somewhere that they used the 3 bucket rinsing method .
Can u kingly explaine to me why and how to rinse your buds?
I want to know this before I put those buds inside the dehydrator
I know you are busy but if any one of you know can u chime in please

We must have been cross-posting. :laughtwo: I almost missed this. I'm never too busy to answer. :battingeyelashes:

Nice new toy.

Yes, you're correct in saying that most use a three-bucket approach with baking soda and lemon juice, an approach I faithfully promoted for over two years. I was recently persuaded to rethink the process and determined that for me it made more sense to use a simple dilution of hydrogen peroxide, followed by a plain water rinse.

I use a 32-oz bottle of 3% H2O2 in a sink filled with tepid water (I turn both on full), rinse the buds in that water, and then replace the water with fresh, and rinse off the peroxide.

Budwashing is about much more than cleaning the flowers and leaves. The process hydrates the plant in a more uniform manner, which, believe it or not, helps it dry and cure better. We feel it improves the taste of the product as well.

With the 3-bucket method you fill the buckets with water (room temp is fine, so you can set them up the night before) and add a cup each of baking soda and lemon juice to the first bucket. Most of us that use buckets have a food-grade one for this step. The process is the same, gently swirl the buds in the bucket without banging into the sides or bottom, rinsing the first wash off by passing it through two buckets of plain water.

I keep a small strainer on hand to clear debris from the first bucket, if necessary. You'd be surprised what washes off the plants. :laughtwo:

I have smaller containers that I use for smaller plants. No need to mess with all that water if you don't have to. Now I just use the sink, as described above.

Hang to dry for four hours before placing in the dehydrator. If you can spin the branches in your hands it'll throw off most of the water. For the first cycle in the dehydrator I keep them attached to the stem, then I cut them loose before starting the second cycle.

Good luck with the harvest. :high-five:

Boy I envy that bathroom Sue!! What light are you using there?

.

It's a combo Amy, the 3500K 200 watt COBs I was gifted, with two 40 watt 2700K CFLs.

I get lost in there numerous times a day. :laughtwo: You should smell it in there. No filtration. I realized tonight that I have more plants flowering out in the open than I do in the tent with a filter. Lol! Good thing I live way up here above everybody else.

One I forgot to post last night. Must have been crazy high. :laughtwo: The Devil's Carnival is devastatingly effective. Lol!

ROOTS!

A deep paint bucket has turned out to be the most effective tool for this potentially messy chore.

IMG_251625.JPG

IMG_251717.JPG

It's fascinating to me how the roots fill the space inside these hempy pots.

IMG_251820.JPG

All that was loose before I started banging against the sides of the bucket.

IMG_251921.JPG

IMG_252022.JPG

Not quite done.

IMG_252128.JPG

IMG_252223.JPG

Better. For some reason I've taken to saving the roots. This specimen went into the bag with the rest of them. Someday I'll have a use for them.

IMG_252416.JPG

 Double post. :laughtwo:

That calls for a couple more pictures, don't you think? :battingeyelashes:

Blue Dream is slow waking up. I've noticed she starts drooping around hour 18 of the lights.

IMG_253826.JPG

Carn 4.4 has some nice new growth starting. :slide: You watch, she'll explode. LOL!

IMG_253930.JPG

I'm gonna learn to pot clones off center. I started training her, and quickly realized what she needs is a bigger pot, or I need to rethink how I'm training. Placing them off-center would be a good start. I'll try to shift her in the pot next time I water.

IMG_254027.JPG

One last thing.... I don't believe I shared with you all my latest seed additions. These were a gift from HealthFreak. The Blue Dream is from a grower in California, and was one of the best euphoric experiences he and his wife had, so a hearty thanks to him. The Blue Power is another top-notch genetic bundle for future exploration.

So many strains, so little time. :laughtwo:

Good Morning everyone

Well..... It wasn't a double post after all, and now it's gone. :laughtwo: Let me try that again. :cheesygrinsmiley:

IMG_252518.JPG

Greetings from an empty tent. Today I'll be launching my sponsored grow to showcase the GROWant G240. Look for that later today, since TS and I are attempting to coordinate our launches to occur simultaneously. He claims it's mostly to keep him motivated in the right direction, but I typically start later in the day anyway. The title has finally presented itself. Can the narrative be far behind? LOL!

A shot of joy for your morning fare. :battingeyelashes: It's easy to get lost in here. I find myself stopping with great regularity to admire the landscape. :dreamy:

IMG_252713.JPG

Look how happy the Jamaican is! :yahoo:

IMG_252815.JPG

I kept telling her to hang on and I'd do my best to make it right for her. :woohoo:

IMG_252922.JPG

IMG_253221.JPG

IMG_253325.JPG

Ahhhh..... That makes me feel so much better. :laughtwo:

IMG_253421.JPG

A shot any cultivator can appreciate, a reasonably level canopy in the flower room. :blunt:

IMG_252617.JPG

Time to fire the day up with unbridled joy. You already know my day's lit up already, and I haven't had my wake 'n bake yet. :laughtwo: There's something extra invigorating about starting a new thread that just fires all my cylinders up like mad.

Now it's your turn to light up your corner of paradise with your own flavor of joy. Not joy in response to life, but joy that creates the life you desire because you're allowing yourself to vibrate the cells of your body with a chorus of appreciation, gratitude that you have another day to celebrate life and loving, wonder at the beauty you witness. When you can deliberately switch your cells to notes of joyfulness, regardless of what's going on around you the universe responds by bringing you more and more moments to find delight in.

Doesn't that sound like the most fun? :battingeyelashes: Yeah, I thought so too. :laughtwo:

Enjoy my friends. I'll be in and out all day. :ciao:

Hi Sue, you mentioned saving your roots. I just harvested some outdoor stuff on my patio. I couldn't really figure out a good way to dispose of all the stems. What do you do with them all?

I chop them up and toss them. I have no worm bin, or they'd go in there. DrZiggy uses his to smoke his meats. I also keep some in a dish on my workbench to scratch and sniff. :laughtwo:

Thanks for your suggestions. I have worsening troubles with my hands so chopping them up isn't a long term attractive option for me. The one in the picture I did chop up and bury in a pot, but the pain in my hands made me decide that was the last ever. DrZiggy's smoker is more my style, although I don't have a smoker, maybe I'll just burn them up on the bbq next time.

Good Morning Sue, I see the Malawi is starting stretch hey? Nice set up you got going, I'll be watching from the shadows.

Oh and the Jamaican....:thumb: One of mine ended up a 2:1 cbd:thc and the other had 0 cbd. The plants looked almost identical except the cbd rich one stretched way more than the other but structurally the same.

How interesting Neiko. Wonder what caused such a wide difference? How different was their positioning under the lights? Maybe I'll figure out a way to get mine tested.

She's looking like she's excited about being alive now. :laughtwo: I'm still not certain of sex, so I'm hoping she's what I anticipate.

You can place branches under the meat, wrapped in aluminum foil when you grill. It'll have the same effect.

I use heavy-duty kitchen shears for much of the cutting. For those thick stems I have bonsai cutters that'll clip anything. :laughtwo:

They were grown in the same tent (4x4) and about 3 weeks apart. The light coverage is uniform for all 4 plants in there. I really like both and it's even better when I mix the 2.

All these years we chased high THC, to discover the best euphoria is closer to a balanced ratio. :laughtwo: I've been playing with mixing the Devil's Carnival with Carnival. I just started, so I don't notice much difference, but then I've been blasted in the DC for days now. It's taking over my life. LOL!
