I borrowed your porta-scrog idea. I made mine 16" x 16". I have one Holy Grail Kush in a 3.5 gallon Hempy Bucket scrogged. She's only been flowering for around 1.5 weeks. So far so good.
I saw the price of the round ones at Home Depot and decided to make my own. I used 2" x 4" hog wire for the screen. Then I TIG welded 1/8" stainless steel filler wire picture framing the screen. Then I used the same stainless wire to make uprights to attach to the container.
I don't have enough room in the flowering tent at the moment for any more than the one porta-scrog. Depending on how this first one turns out, this may be my new technique.
We've also found a house to buy. Looks like I may be ditching the tents and will be able to grow some larger plants.
Thank you for the porta-scrog idea. I always wanted to scrog but thought it'd be almost impossible to grow perpetually.
Awesome to hear from ya Josh! Think Peejay originated the Porta SCROG. Then I think CA won POM with one too. The first time I saw the concept was on a Jorge Cervantes video. He was visiting a CA outdoor grow and one had massive trees with a 10'x10' metal SCROG that was 15' in the air. The Porta SCROG is just a miniature version lol.
I'm starting to get away from the Porta SCROG on my larger plants. Going. To try bamboo stakes instead. Now I'm planning to use them above 12 3 gal pots on my perpetual drip feed SOG. I'm going to trim them down to squares vs circles so they all fit. They will be about 10in x10in with 9 squares. Hoping for 1oz per plant minimum and then I'll still be hitting the same numbers as my 2L but with way less plants to manage.
That 2L idea was genius tho! I'm averaging 4 plants per week off a 3x3 table with a total of 48 running. Haven't had one under 7 grams yet
I agree with homemade vs store bought. I got my screens for $3 ea the time saved as worth the money. I'm a busy guy these days with 3 tents.
Glad to hear things are looking up for you. I can't wait to buy a house. Def jealous of you there. Hope to see a new journal from you soon!
