SweetSue's Perpetual 2.0 - The Transition To Doc Bud's HBB Kit

My favorite mantra

"Things are always working out for me." :battingeyelashes:

I can't remember the last time I was completely straight. Oh yes I can, February 3, 2015, the day I returned from my 7 weeks in Phoenix. :laughtwo:

Ok, I feel better now. :laughtwo:

There's a moment, about a half hour after a brownie dose, when the whole world shifts slightly to the left for a split second.

I looooooove that moment. :slide:

So...... but was not that 2016? I cannot remember sheit, just having my fun.

:biglaugh:

Hahaha! You are so right keltic. Good lord, I'm glad I get to hang around you. :hugs::hugs::hugs: I went there in Dec 2015, and that's the date that sticks in the old brain. :laughtwo:

Here, I'll make up for it with cuteness. :battingeyelashes:

This is the composition I like to shoot for. The curve of the leaf, the contrast with the white pistil, Yeah yummy. :rollit:

Thank you keltic. High praise coming from you. That put a sweet smile on my face as I head out to walk in the wind. This should be fun. Gusting up to 40 MPH! :woohoo:

Good morning everyone

Happy Monday and Happy May Day. :slide: Fill your day with joy. Go ahead.....I dare ya. :laughtwo:

I wanted to share some pretty pictures. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Hi SweetSue!

Good morning to you, too!

Your pictures are

Noob questions, if you have a moment...

What is guide string for? Growth per day? Height overall?

Why are the lower beads a larger size? How far apart are beads (2 inches maybe)?

I went back and hung a guide string.

What makes this lovely one "Hempy"?

She is growing very nicely, has that pretty green of young plants! Is it the width of her leaf, or the rounded serrated edge, or her genetics? How do you tell Hemp from recreational Cannabis, since they are both Cannabis just different lineage? A visual clue maybe?

The plants around her are narrower leaf, more sharply serrated. Does one shape or color define if it's Sativa, Indica, Hempy (not sure of leaf shape for hemp, either... LOL)?

I like the way her leaves show up against the white of Pearlite. It makes for nice contrast and definition.

Look at this hempy Carnival take off Tead!

Good internal growth starting. Time for something drastic.

IMG_62477.JPG

OMG! Nooooo!! She was doing so well!!! :jawdropper:

Topped her. :cheesygrinsmiley:

How do you determine when to do the first (of what I suspect is many) toppings?

I'm trying to see where it was that you actually cut the growth. Did you take it from just above the leaf node. Where you cut it, the leaf stems look about 1/2 length of the lower stems. Or did you top it one full node to the next longest (what looks to be about a 2-3 inch stem).

Can you use the top as a clone?

Will you be topping the side branches later?

LOL, I guess enuf questions on this!

Off to pester another poster/writer/sage/kind soul...

Good evening Dory. I'll take a few moments for you before bed. :battingeyelashes:

The guide string is to keep me a consistent distance from the light. I use the strings of beads because I have a lot of them laying around. :laughtwo: I have a weakness for light passing through tiny bits of colored glass, and that's translated to strings of beads in all shapes and sizes and textures and colors.....you get the picture.... hanging all around. These turned out to be wonderful guide strings hanging from the lights. There's no rhyme nor reason to the spacing of the beads. I strung them randomly. They throw the light in the most delightful way and look beautiful. :cheesygrinsmiley:

She's called a hempy because she grows in a passive hydro system named "hempy" after the originator of this particular growing style. He grew with vermiculite added. I follow Tead and lexort's lead and use perlite as my growing medium. Tead tempted me to try this run using Osmocote Plus scattered through the perlite. Soooo easy to grow Dory, and look at her!

IMG_63068.JPG

Don't worry about the topping. She's already growing two where only one grew before. Not only that, but the lower branches have a chance to catch up vertically while these two grow out.

This is shows you a better view of where I clip the top. I try not to damage the new growth on either side, which are usually very tiny. I don't always succeed in being careful.

IMG_630710.JPG

I typically top once, either early, at the fourth or fifth node, or late, at the point when the plant is about 12" - 14" high. Haven't been doing either long enough to determine which method works best for me. TheRedDragon, on the other hand, tops frequently and grows monster plants that give him tremendous yields. Everyone has their own comfort zone on topping.

The Carnival in the hempy pot is an indica pheno. We can tell from the leaves, at this stage. Indicas have broader leaves. The Dark Devil Autos behind her are a classic example of the differences between indica and sativa, looking at structure and leaf shape.

DDA7, on the left, is a sativa pheno, with narrow leaves and a taller stature. DDA6, on the right, turned out to be the more common expression of the indica traits. I find it particularly fascinating how different their leaves are in color. These two have been a dream to grow.

Incidentally, DDA7 was topped, and poorly so I'll admit, and DDA6 wasn't. Looks like DDA7 may bring in more weight, but it's too early to tell.

Alright, I'm off to bed now.

Goodnight

Good night, SweetSue, sleep restorative sleep!

Thank you for your time & answers!

Grotto time, too!

Oh dude... so not following yet another one of your threads. Killin me.
U got too damn much joy to be contained in a single (ummmm or dozen!) thread.

:laughtwo: I believe the count is creeping dangerously close to 30 threads now, although three of them are closed grow journals. It keeps me off the streets, for the most part. Lol!

In SweetSue's garden this is a sign that we're a month from harvest.

This one's making me real proud. I'm not happy about the WayAhead residue on her leaves, and I've pretty much stopped using it because of that. It's not like I feel comfortable giving one of the HB girls a shower like I would have my LOS pots. I'll stick with plain Brix for now, thank you very much. :battingeyelashes:

All ready to head out to the river for a morning walk. Wondering if I want to make it more exciting and have that second brownie now, instead of later. Hmmmmm...... Wednesday is my walking day with my friends, and I usually save this dose for right before that. Ok, I'll exercise self control and top off with a couple hoots of Carnival dried low and slow instead of that second brownie. :cheesygrinsmiley:

See? I am capable of some sort of self-control. :laughtwo:

Overrated.
Thank you, although I did treat myself to the whole bud, so not much control expressed in the end. :laughtwo:

Look at the baby growing up! She's 31 days from cutting. She likes the soil, ya think? :laughtwo:

Looking, for all the world, like a miniature tree.
