SweetSue's Perpetual 2.0 - The Transition To Doc Bud's HBB Kit

Why with dry buds?

If you do the same process should it not decarb if you bring it to that temp?

Or is it a different process with dry buds?

The difference with fresh harvest oil is you have to boil off the water bound in the plant cells and then it has to decarb. That means you have to maintain temperatures at around 220-230 degrees F for at least that 110 minutes. With FHO you see the decarb happening, so you know when it's complete.

When you start with dry buds and aren't concerned with loss of terpenes you can do a simple infusion, following an oven decarb. With the buds we dry in the fridge we've gone to all that trouble to retain the terpenes and flavonoids, so we want to do the decarb slowly with low heat, so they don't boil off, meaning the standard oven decarb is off the table.

Hahaha! I used to be so naive and think all you needed to do was harvest and smoke.

Sue, you gave a fabulous answer recently about when to harvest. There was even an entire explanation of the trichome coloring and trying the harvest at different times to see how it affected you. For the life of me, I can't find that post! Any chance you remember where it is?

While at Target picking up more bananas I turned around and ran right smack into a display of these:

IMG_86575.JPG

It's adjustable in height and tilt, transports easily, and has space for essentials off to the side. This is exactly what I needed to stop straining the neck and the eyes working with the iPad balanced on one knee. It'll be easy to carry into the kitchen when I want to work standing up.

What a delightful find! It solved a whole laundry list of needs in one fell swoop. :yahoo: Best $20 I spent this month.

I love the way the cosmos looks after me. :battingeyelashes:

I can help a little bit. The time differs strain to strain. The affects are supposedly based off the colors of the trichomes. If you harvest with all milky trichomes the high will be much more heady. This would be early. If you wait until you have mixed amounts of trichomes both milky and amber it is supposedly a mixed high (generally at the plant's highest potency) where it can be a little heady and a body high as well. If you wait til a little later, where most of the trichomes are amber, the high will be a stronger body high.

Be careful if you are trying to get to one stage or another because it can move quickly if you aren't checking daily. Also keep in mind when they turn amber, they are generally starting down the decline in potency.

Thanks Van!

Do these suggestions for harvest apply to CBD strains too? My Candida, almost all CBD, is already showing some amber.....much earlier than I was expecting.

I really couldn't tell you. I would assume that trichomes are trichomes, but not really being sure....don't quote me. I would think potency would be potency.

Be sure yer not looking at leaves Lady A......
Only check the buds...leaves will show Amber's but they don't count

Van answered this wonderfully Lady A. Thank you Van. :hugs:

More Amber is more of a sedative right? Or can that be totally controlled by a decarb also?

You're right on both counts B. The more amber trichomes the more couch lock you can expect. You'll also get more CBN with a longer decarb, but not to the extent you'd think. That conversion of THC takes much longer than people suspect. If couch lock is what you're seeking go for a harvest with lots of amber trichomes.

Thanks Van!

CBD matures earlier than THC, so it's recommended you harvest slightly early if you're going for CND. That's one of the reasons I harvest the CBD Critical Cures when they flush cloudy.

This was one of the first things I learned on this site. Check trichomes on the buds, not the leaves.

My uncle would like to sleep through the night solid. With the oil he has now if he wakes it's only for a min or two. He says that's better then the last 30 or so years. I would like to put him out for 8 hrs straight.

That's a dramatic improvement. :yahoo: Sleep is one of the most important elements in the process of healing. Do a double strength batch for late evening, about an hour before bedtime. That should pretty much do it. Make it as pure an indica as you can find.

A lot of people over 50 don't need 8 hours a night.

I don't nap and mostly sleep under 6.5 hours a night. I sleep for 8 hours less than 10 times a year. This has been my 'normal' since my mid 40s.

So I know I'm a page behind with this but I just can't contain my joy!! Last year my wife bought me a little table just like this and its the best thing ever! So happy you have one too. Does yours have a little pull out drawer on the side? Mine fits a 1 hitter, vape and lighter just perfectly.

Happy to see you wont be so bent over all the time. As someone who has neck problems everyday of his life please take extra care of that melon holder!

Ok. So more specifically I want him to have unbroken sleep. I don't nap and have been getting 4-6 hours a night for 20yrs and am 40. That doesn't mean I don't want a solid nights sleep.
That's my goal for him is for unbroken sleep, how ever long that is.

He wakes because of pain or just not in deep enough of a sleep. Even if it's 4 hours I want it a good 4 hours. Sleep heals, better yet, good sleep heals more.

This helps a lot! So I need to harvest my NL later for couch lock (sleep) and the Candida earlier, so that I get the full CBD from the plant.

Still going to look for that previous post of yours though. It was gold!

I didn't even think of this Rad. :laughtwo: I find five hours is where my body usually says "wake up sleepyhead!" These days, when I get more than five hours at a shot I feel more tired when I wake up.

Oh, I know RheinRover. When I started back with Callanetics I had a serious hump at the top of my back from being bent over like that. I sat and played online last night with that new table just chortling with glee at how easy it's already made my life. :woohoo:

No little drawer on mine.

Ok, I understand now. I'd still recommend a stronger bedtime dose, administered 30-60 minutes before he plans to go to bed. A vaporizer next to the bed with something high in THC can be a godsend when he wakes unexpectedly.

I'm good for about 6hrs a night. I get up alot because I suck down tons of water all day long.

I try to slow down the water consumption after midnight. I'm typically up until 2 AM.

He wakes because of pain or just not in deep enough of a sleep. Even if it's 4 hours I want it a good 4 hours. Sleep heals, better yet, good sleep heals more.

Yes it does. Sleep filled with pain doesn't much feel like rest and rejuvination, does it?

Good luck finding it. I'm creeping up on 29,500 posts mighty quick here. Lol!

Good morning everyone

Another day of sticky hot wetness ahead of us from the looks of it. At least the clouds will tamp the heat down a smidge. Thankfully, the air was on all night, so my tents didn't cook this morning while I slept. They're maintaining a nice 81-82 degrees, right where I need them to be.

Looking in on the brood just now I noticed a couple things that require attention. First off, the Thin Mint GSC has grown tall enough to need to be removed from this space, because this is as high as the lights are going to go right now, so she'll either be moved to the flowering tents or I'll do something about hanging the lights better so is can lift them a bit more, but then that means I need to raise everyone else in this space. I think it's a better idea to flip her, and that will likely happen today after I water all the hempies. I'll take a clone cutting at that point.

The other thing that caught my eye was the Candy Cane seed making its way out of the Rapid Rooter. :yahoo: She should be out by tonight. I'll get her planted ASAP.

Crop King may have had problems stabilizing the strain, but they certainly have vigor bred into their seeds. I've yet to plant a seed from Crop King that didn't explode from the dirt within 36 hours of planting. :high-five:

I'm ready to get the day started now. It's always fun to catch up from the night and early morning postings.

:hugs::hugs::hugs:

You know to expect it:

Joy, my friends. Feel it beginning to overflow? Get out there and spread it around as much as possible. The payback is astronomical. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Until later, :ciao:

Standing, this is the absolute perfect height for my eyes. :slide:

RE: Sleep

It's primarily the deep REM sleep that we need. It's less than an hour but it's hard for many people to get there easily. We have to have some time to fall into it, and subconscious thoughts delay it. During that time there are also many metabolic processes going on, like muscle growth and repair, which cause heat flashes and muscle twitching, etc.

If you can get a couple hours of solid uninterrupted sleep that includes REM, that should satisfy the basics. It's getting to REM that takes so long. That's the trick people who only sleep 4 hours use - they get to REM smoothly and quickly.
