SweetSue's Perpetual 2.0 - The Transition To Doc Bud's HBB Kit

I'll admit, looking at your garden and considering the possibilities in my own space keeps me thinking. I can't have anything tested, so I can't really contrast from a medicinal perspective. I turn most of my harvests into oils, for many purposes, so the goal for me is frostiness and volume by weight. Ziggy proved you can get more volume out of the space with budscicles on steroids. Lol! Hempies are a step above that, but I can get more into the spaces with hempies.

Disposing of used soil from a third floor apartment in a concrete jungle can be a challenge. For that matter, the physical work and storage requirements of making soil are a challenge in such limited quarters.

The thought is always there. Obviously the inspiration has become skewered towards the perlite. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

But there are some I want to try that'll require soil, IMO. The leggier sativas that take months on months to mature the blossoms..... I don't see them in a hempy. I haven't tried one yet though. I wonder if I have one in my seed collection? I could run it with Grow Better nutes. Wouldn't matter how long she took.

I'm thinking of trying my next clone straight into perlite under a dome. Hmmmm..... It'll soon be time to take one from UD. There ya go, a likely candidate. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Grab onto that dirt and hold on baby! Like I said... fun to watch.

Try your bag clone method with one of my baggie cloners inside. Got any dark colored plastic bags? Toss in 3 or 4 little balls of Osmo to give the roots a touch of something once they start developing. Easy.

I was actually expecting a good read. An article that goes in debt about the advantages of using hydro vs soil. As someone who used both mediums over the years, I find this article extremely misinformative. Did this huge magazine who's supposed to be the market leader, really not hear about the new trends with high-brix soils and other living soils?

It's a magazine... and frankly, a rather stodgy and dusty one in such a dynamic growing world. Their goal is obviously readership... not research. At some point (90's?), filling the pages with words and ads became more important than it's readers.... such a shame.

Yeah. I guess it's time to cancel the subscription when I know more about what's going on in regards of growing than the ones writing the articles in the mag

hehe.... good call. My subscription cancelation came many years before yours. There may be some subject material that they cover well... perhaps the legality issues.... but when the info they present for growing is so outdated, I have to wonder about any other content they present to me.
I guess it has some value to the uninitiated... as a form of introduction to the scene... but they could sure use a more connected editor.

No, they haven't paid attention. It's astounding the amount of misinformation that gets passed around. In the research for medical threads I've had to resort to reading the research papers myself to confirm the information I'm finding shared here and there.

There also appears to be a huge disconnect on the use of capsule regimens, and we may be the only group paying attention to things like bioavaibility, demethylation and competitive inhibition practices, fresh harvest infused oils and low and slo drying.

We're more cutting edge than we're given credit for. This community has learned to grow the best, process it into the most potent end products and administer the medications in more beneficial and responsible ways. Our high profile competitor is glossy and spends a lot of money promoting themselves while we're busy going about the business of actually doing it right. Might be time to let that one go out of your life DeVille. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Good morning everyone:Love:

Every time I think I'm close to back on track with sleep balance I find myself up until 3 AM studying something I won't let go. :laughtwo: This relationship seminar is taking way more time out of my day than I'd planned, but it's so much fun I can't resist. Lol! Good thing I have no responsibilities other than keeping myself alive, so when I sleep is a non-issue. One of these afternoons I'll crash and sleep for hours. :battingeyelashes:

It's Sunday, and that means a check on Carnival 3.1, huddled under the chicken wire.

IMG_80504.JPG

The method says three days, and today only makes two completed. She still looks unruly, but I can see the beginnings of greatness in the apparent chaos.

IMG_80515.JPG

It's going to level her out better than I'd anticipated. There'll be lots of work still, but I'm beginning to get more excited about this girl.

IMG_80536.JPG

Decided to give her one more day, but I trimmed the chicken wire to keep it from slipping off to one side.

I woke up ready to play with the cosmos today, did you? :battingeyelashes:

.. . .

i am on the fifth, but I got a elevator. It is challenging to recycle such soil. I also have a rule (wife's rule) one thing in one thing out. So ten gallons soil in ten out. Within reason. City living 'eh?

Amazing the spin on bits of facts that can swirl in the wind. I get so frustrated and angered by it. I always check sources on everything I read these days no matter the subject.
The media really has never been trustworthy. One wonders if Mr. Cronkite is spinning in his grave like a rotisserie bird.

In a world where Fox "News" can win a court case giving them permission to blatantly lie it behoves one to double check everything.

Used to live in a one-room apartment. 27 sqare meters. It's quite small. Didn't use soil in there though. Hydro seemed like the logical solution back then. Now I have to drive several minutes before I meet something I can call "neighbor" so it's really perfect for growing

Ya know... that touches on another issue. It needs to be at least recognized.
Every government office has tons of TVs these days mostly all spewing CNN 24/7. I did a long stint with the boys in green a few years ago as a civilian. Every square foot of their space was covered by them. It was overwhelming and just crazy. Especially when you consider the age of most of the humans in that space, the programming level was just incredible. Total unthinking robots just spewing whatever... with some of them realizing, accepting, and promoting the idea. So disgusting that our tax dollars are used this way. Surely makes one wonder what kind of behind the scenes hand holding may be occurring considering the history of such things and the money involved.

Stop now.... it's been a good Sunday so far. I even had a chance to help a neighbor with a dead AC and spread some love. I'm not about to get mired in such negativity and ugliness. Hell.... I may need to go find some live music and good food just to make up for these words.

I'm thinking the same. It's such a beautiful day that I may stroll down to the river and take a gander at the speed and vitality brought on by days of thunderstorms. The river hasn't been this high and fast for this extended a period in quite a while. It's all heading your way Tead. :cheesygrinsmiley:

First I have some community garden threads to get posting done. All the garden chores are now out of the way.

I was watering the hempies and decided to cinch up Carn 4 so she could fit into the corner of the late bloom tent.

IMG_80625.JPG

That opened up space to move CBD Critical Cure 2.1.1 into tent #2. She's now officially flipped. :slide:

IMG_80638.JPG

Her move left an open slot in the tiny closet for UD......

IMG_80786.JPG

...and sent me to the seed bank for that crucial decision of "what next?"

IMG_79744.JPG

I went with two Scott's Dark Slide from my recent gift. One will be hempy, grown with the Grow Better nutes, the other will be in soil. The gypsy tells me he anticipates her to be "a sativa with a twist of OG madness." That caught my attention. :slide:

IMG_80952.JPG

There's too much open space in here, don't you think? :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

IMG_80965.JPG

I did the same.....
Some new autos starting today since I have room
Dark cream and Devil cream for sure...then maybe a kush or Diesel also... have 3 spots to fill

Sweetsue thank you for the link I am subscribing to your Journal I love your cloning method I'm always looking for new ways to do all the cloning and different methods I have not found many of them that don't work at all oh you know from my journal I like to torture my clones as for your Journal I'm already almost halfway done with reading it

Welcome Imhigh85. :hugs:  Glad you found your way here. Settle in and get to know the rowdy crew. :laughtwo:

That cloning technique was taught to me by the master himself Lembatoast. Here's a blog write-up you'll find helpful. TOAST Teaches Cloning

Tead has me itching to try with perlite. Next cutting will be a good candidate. :cheesygrinsmiley: I used to be intimidated by cloning before I met TOAST. Now I have such confidence that I don't take backups. One plant flipped = one clone cutting. So far I'm running a perfect score.

I read toast thread that you put up it's just like what I do other than I don't use a rooting hormone or anything else with my clones the less chemicals the better it's hard to say that we are growing organic when we have to dip things into chemicals that are not organic

Cloning and straight perlite can be fun I like to experiment with different things and take techniques from one process and apply it to another

I am having an issue with three of my strain that I run consistently my BC big bud my pre 98 Bubba Kush and my pure Afghan all three of these strain have one thing in common they all constantly are breaking branches due to weight I can come up with solutions to support the way but I cannot come up with anything that will make the stems itself stronger on the plant if you have any ideas please let me know

Hmmm..... do you use potassium silicate? When I was growing in LOS it was a staple in every drench for the purpose of increasing branch integrity. Diatomaceous earth will accomplish the same thing. Silica contributes to strong branches.

I grow my soil plants with Doc's kit, and weak branches have never been a concern. I can't think of another HB grower having that problem, although they constantly have to stake them to support the colas.

*sigh of relief* Now I can harvest that plant panting in the finish tent.

IMG_80994.JPG

I'm thinking about tomorrow. :slide:

Pidgeon's stem workout might help too....
