SweetSue's Cannabis Oil Study Hall

Hi Sue,

For sleep and CCO oil making I would recommend the Dark Star....that's what Cajuncelt recommended to me when I needed some action and it is kick ass.....in following my legal medical state activities, I found that we offer the most fierce CBD strains on the planet:thedoubletake: who knew; we are a very sophisticated bunch in my state that demand only the best....ultimate taskmasters for the grower: lord have mercy...lately I was gifted some cash to a seed bank from a very generous 420 member, so I was thrilled to order 'Cannatonic', born and bred in the great state of Michigan, and a Cannabis Cup winner at least twice that I know of.....happy days ahead to help my pain patients....cheers :thumb:

I remember him recommending this to you and how happy you were with the initial harvest. Since you're continuing to use it I assume it's a keeper. Are you using it to make oil? If so, how does it typically yield for you?

Cannatonic...... Ooooo.... Girl. That's a tasty-looking morsel of cannabis. I wasn't aware it had Michigan roots. Good call. :high-five:

I hope you don't mind Sue, but I want to try to get this out. Here is a link to a petition for President elect Trump to follow the State cannabis laws like he said during the primaries. Please sign and pass this on to anyone you can. :peace:

No problem at all supergroomer. I posted it on my journal too. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Hi Sue,

I so wanted to get a cancer fighting strain in my lineup....then I stumbled on the Cannatonic....actually just got the seeds this week from the UK, so I have 2 heavy hitter strains in my lineup now....I am trying to woo a cancer patient who has been to the Mayo Clinic a couple times, but you know the old saying, "You can lead a horse to water"....I haven't made any oil yet, but am using the Darkstar to make pain cream and dry gel caps for insomnia.....

Hizzy has certainly inspired me with her oil making, holy cow.....love to see all of you advocate for yourself in your healing....

I have to say, Trump's pick for AG in Mr. Sessions does not sit well with me for MJ legalization....he says "those who smoke MJ are not good people".....are you kidding me....in 2016....the ignorance is quite overwhelming...hoping Congress dumps him.....

Thank you Cajun. This is probably the third time you've recommended these to me, isn't it mon ami? Lol! You'd think I'd listen to you finally. :battingeyelashes:

The ones that catch my fancy are Dark Star or Blue Cheese. Next order I'll make it a priority to get something for sleep. Cutting off coffee at a time before 10 PM might be a good idea too. Lol! I gave up coffee for almost a year and suddenly took it up again. Methinks maybe giving it up was the better choice. One more bag of beans and I may do just that. I'm starting to miss herb teas again. :laughtwo:

Well you said you've yet to find a strain that knocks you out.
I think you've yet to get serious about it?
If I've recommended it 3x, you've been led to the water.

The big issue is stick to as pure of Indica as possible. No hybrids. The oil really emphasizes the sativa-side in hybrids.

"teaspoon of lecithin sprinkled over the top before heating the mixture gives the same benefit as eating it with mango."

The benefit of eating mangos is their phenylpropanoids that cleanse the CB receptors.
Lecithin it's used as an emulsifier for lipscomal encapsulation.

Apples & oranges. How do you feel the lecithin is acting similar to consuming mangos?

We were just talking about our new Attorney General...
We may be in trouble.
He's gone so far to say that cannabis actually causes diseases.
Whew.
So sis, other than the Cannatonic what other strains are you growing medicinally?
What's popular up there?
It seems you're happy with the laws, etc. up there. I hope it keeps going well for ya gal.
At least I didn't end up in your back acreage with my yurt! Lol.
What sucks about the high CBD strains (25:1 CBD: THC) is that they are clone only. You really have to know someone who knows someone to score some.
I've had lots of ppl tell me they could get some, like AC/DC, just to come up with excuse later.
CBD Crew are great guys, but their strains are still on the weak side for CBD. They hit 9% CBD & have an orgy.

I think I said it earlier & someone mentioned it here, there's alot of awesome SFV OG floating around for some reason. I love it!

Thunderstruck (Sin City Seeds) claims to be 20:1 CBD:THC. I have not tried it yet, but have one that's been in flower close to 8 weeks now.

Does anyone have an experience with SuperCBDx?

I also have another question...

I read on a few sites that high THC oil can be bad for Er+ breast cancers? Is there any truth in this?

I hadn't come across this about Er+ and high THC oils. Had any of them offered any documentation to back that up? Alternative choices? Can you PM me any leads to links? I'd like to check this out.

Just a guess here, but THC would be bad for breast and ovarian cancer IF it contained plant estrogens. We need to see some data on the amount of estrogens in THC, if any.

Will you be having it tested?

I heard you this time Cajun. And yes, I haven't taken it seriously. Something about thinking I could go without sleep. Sanity slowly regains full control. Pure Indica. Got it.

Cajun, you have come a long way and so have I.....I have loved my state's program because it has allowed me undocumented freedom to exercise my rights and help others, but then the government gets involved and screws everything up...and now the election and I have great concerns...you are at ground zero and I hang on your every word....and I pray that nothing changes but with legalization comes lots of restrictions and headaches...my legal dance card is about to be full, so I can grow 72 plants....I have slowly invested in additional LED lights and have grown and grown...but I take the responsibility very seriously....

Recently a friend found out her mom had cancer, so I immediately sent her 1/2 my inventory of Darkstar seeds....she responded by sending me about 19 seeds of many different strains, so my 5 strains built up over 2 years is growing....and then a 420 member has gifted me his winnings and bounty....I am not used to such generosity...It humbles me to no end...but I continue to grow and grow....Cajun, I appreciate your calling me out to address me, you are my hero and keep the communication coming....You rock!!!!

PS You are always welcome in my back 40 in your yurt...

Jeezzz,:hmmmm: Thank god I don't have to rely on HIS opinion about us. But, surely he needs to go through some serious changes before even consider open his mouth

A politician Birdie. They speak their own language and live in their own pampered world. This man is dangerous enough that we need to hope Congress grows some and keeps him out. There is a vetting process but the citizenry gave the Republican Party both houses as well, so we'll be holding our breath. We elected an internet troll to the highest office in our land. He surrounded himself with petty and backwards-thinking Neanderthals. His Vice President is the one we should really be concerned about.

In 4-8 years we get to replace them.

I know what ya mean about the generosity here. That's why I stay here when I can. For a virtual/computer world, it can sure develop some very real friendships. I've had a person or 2 from 420 give me stuff I needed too. That's when it really hits ya that this fake virtual forum can be pretty damn real. I've seen so many members in the past get what they wanted, (knowledge, info., equipment, seeds, etc.) and are never seen again. Some really surprised me how they just took off.
I feel like i owe Rob & this forum for my life how it is, so I'll be around on here as much as I can at least. I can't get on as much nowadays, but I'm not just taking off anytime real soon.
You're one of the very few that actually got out there (reality) & dedicated yourself to this. You didn't just stay put behind a computer screen & I'm proud to know you.
We've been through some shit to get here huh? Seems like a lifetime. I've read some old posts going back a few years & can't even remember what things were like back then.
Well, blessings for all your 72 plants!

I subscribe to a site called "Wake & Bake" run by a delightful cannabis warrior named Corrine. I heartily encourage you to seek her out. She's a ballsy cook who loves her cannabis and has the wickedest sense of humor. I laugh a lot over at her place.

Today she shared her video on her first attempt at making capsules. I cringed all the way through at how much she spilled, but I admire her getting it out there her way and showing that you don't have to be all tight and referenced when you're making your own meds.

I'll share that link later, once I'm sure I can do so without violating site rules. Regardless, if you google her site and "cannabis capsules" I'm sure it'll pop up. You can find her on YouTube as well.

What brought me here now was the device she uses to check the cannabinoid load in her oils. Has anyone come across this, used this, knows of someone who does use it? I haven't been following her closely lately and missed her post on it, so this is the first I've seen it.

Cajun, have you seen this around? Heard anything about it?

The Tech in tCheck

Is it Magic?

Not really. tCheck is an application specific spectrometer. It works by shining a specific wavelength (color) of light through the oil, then measuring the amount of light that makes it through.

You can do this experiment at home... Take a flashlight and put it behind a small glass of water, then look at the flashlight through the water. Now, start dripping dye or food coloring into the water. As more dye is added, the water gets progressively darker.
The water in this experiment is just like our oils and the dye is like the cannabinoids (THC, CBD, etc.). The more cannabinoids in the oil, the darker the water.

Our eyeballs can only detect a limited range of colors (wavelengths). tCheck uses a wavelength of light beyond our ability to see. However, cannabinoids filter or darken the oil at this wavelength.

Inside tCheck, the light emitter, tray, and receiver have all been calibrated. This means that the amount of light generated is always known, the thickness of the oil within the tray, and sensitivity of the detector is also always known. This consistency, along with some fancy signal processing allows tCheck to translate the dimness of the light into what we call a cannabinoids by volume measurement.

Why do we call it an application specific spectrometer? Because it only measures cannabinoids. Regular spectrometers use a bunch of different wavelengths of light and can measure all kinds of stuff like the carbon dioxide content in Himalayan glacial ice. The problem is that it is extremely difficult to tell the difference between 10,000 year old carbon dioxide and some other unknown compound. To definitively tell the difference, you must collect a ton of data across a wide range of wavelengths and compare those numbers against a massive database. Even then, it is difficult to determine the amount of carbon dioxide in Himalayan glacial ice.

tCheck does not try to measure anything and everything. It only measures the cannabinoids dissolved in oils (and tinctures in the near future). Because it is not a general purpose spectrometer, it doesn't need to make a million measurements and host a gigantic database. By doing only a single function, the electronics inside could be miniaturized.

If this does what it says it does this is a must have, wouldn't you think? Hmmmm.......

Wow Sue. I haven't heard of this device, but it seems legit. Apparently it can't process BHO or very high concentrates, but because of the alcohol, it can test oil.
I'm definitely getting one if they're legit.
+Reps for finding this!
