SweetSue's Cannabis Oil Study Hall

So, I got some good news today. I visited my family doctor to follow up on a blood test, and I took along the forms for a referral to a medical marijuana clinic.

He signed them!

This means that now I will be able to get "legal" to buy and possess cannabis. And, since I can buy from a Licenced Provider, my cost will be about 1/2. THAT will make a huge difference, on our low and fixed income.

Now, I just gotta get my wife into see my doctor.

:woohoo: Another bit of relief. Oooo....Danolo.... Couple this with what you're learning about dosing and topicals... :slide: Things are lookin much better as you progress further down this healing path. Saving money and getting more relief from the expenditure. I call this a really good thing. :hugs:

Good evening Ms Sue, my Mrs and I are making more caps tonight. There is some advantages to living in the cold up here, we can set everything outside and keep it -18 at the moment lol. These will be a 20:1 for my sweetie, the 15:1 caps are a bit much for her so moving it up a bit. I have to say that the 15:1 caps for myself are very pleasant and I do enjoy them, probably more so than even smoking Buds but I do enjoy taking a rip or two of the big bong :-)

Hope all is well for you our Guardian Angel and we will report back on how the 20:1 caps work out......I may try 2 of those lol.

Blessed Buds our friend and be well :passitleft:

I'm so glad to read this first thing. I hear you about the effectiveness. I use brownies because they work for me even better than the capsules. Not really sure why that is. At some point I'll have enough Carnival harvested to make a good batch of CCO and play with Carnival capsules.

When I'm buzzed on brownies I almost never reach for the bong. I find it frustrating to try to maintain the level I function best at with inhalation. The buzz wears off within an hour when I'm running on Delta-9 THC. That 6-8 hours on 11-hydroxy THC is where my system settles most comfortably.

I was heartened that you've both learned that less can be more when dosing cannabis medicinally.

"Less is more" was the basic lesson in Thursday's class on Cannabis and sexual dysfunction. Women get off better with a high dose, but too much and the woman can find herself feeling disconnected afterwards. Too much for men can result in performance disaster. Consider the mechanics and focus necessary to maintain a good erection and limit it to a couple hits right before you become amorous.

It explained a lot of what I witnessed in my own marriage. Dale and I used to smoke until we were wasted, every time. Looking back I can see evidence of too much being more of a problem than we considered. Watching the class I was struck with how gently we cared for each other when my libido took that 12 year vacation. That scenario destroys a lot of relationships when egos start feeling wounded. We never let the affection fall by the wayside.

We were proof positive that you should marry the right person. The universe led me right to him. I've always had a special relationship with the universe. :battingeyelashes:

Ok, we are now at a point where we will try suppositories.

Until now my wife has been taking a CCO that is 37%/24% and another cap that is 7%/27%.
Each of these caps have a drop of lecithin and a couple drops of olive oil.

My questions are:

Can we use the veg caps for suppositories?

Must we add the lecithin and carrier oil when taken this way? If so, at biobomb levels?

Yes, capsules work well as suppositories. I recommend using the bio bomb recipe. It really increases speed of absorption, about 1/2 hour or less for nearly all of it. Which is nice because when you gotta go you gotta go.

Ok, we'll do that. Thanks.

One question:
The BioBomb recipe suggest a measured increase in potency from 20:1 to 10:1 to 5:1.

Is this necessary? My wife has been consuming daily doses of CCO, plus other methods of consuming :) and I suspect her tolerance level is fairly high.

I was planning on making up six 10:1 and six 5:1 and see how they work..

Whatcha think?

Ok folks, I've got one for ya.

Has anyone had any discussions about "Red" oil?

I happened upon it after having discussions with a fellow oil maker. This oil maker mentioned having a ring of red oil at the top of his purging pan while making a batch of oil. He thought it might have something to do with not having dried his buds enough before conducting the solvent extraction.

This made me curious, especially after having heard that something about red oil was mentioned in Shona Banda's Book, "Live Free or Die".

After a CCO extraction, I allowed the waste material to fully dry. I repeated the stripping process with cold water instead of alcohol. I only used about an ounce of material. I conducted the typical CCO process utilizing the rice cooker then over to the coffee mug warmer and ended up with the product pictured above.

My curiosity is this: Does this substance hold any medicinal properties/value?

I do not reside nearby any testing facilities, so did not have the opportunity to see what I had. The smell and taste were way too awful to try. Not really sure what it would be good for, if anything. I do not use chemical fertilizers or pesticides so have no worries regarding contamination.

Just thinking out loud here, inviting ideas.

Smell and taste would be my determination here Gigi. I once did a further extraction to see what I'd get, and I quickly decided it had no medicinal value I was willing to use on anyone else.

Interestingly, I did find it would heal small patches of psoriasis. It just looks like hell. So it must still have some value to it, but where would you be comfortable using it yourself? I have a credo of "leave no cannabinoid behind!" This is one exception I've made to that policy.

Ok im having problems keeping track of where things are. So here is a thought.

Can we make the Study Hall a subforum and then can create/ have different threads within that? There are several common and recurring themes that would benefit from being organized in their own thread.

What do people think?

GG, your thinking was so loud I heard it from my kitchen! Good job!

As for the red color, I suspect it's due to anthocyanins, other flavonoids and phenols. Like in red wine. Congratulations on turning cannabis into wine. Really awful wine, but still... Just thinking out loud. :)

I'd not considered this Oldbear. In essence, a collection of study halls? I think that's a decent idea. We should ask the mods if something like this is possible. When I started the hall I had no expectation it'd be this expansive. Magnus already started this process.

What does everyone else think?

Hi SweetSue,
I'm new to this group420. I'm trying to learn as much as I can on using CBD right now for my Rheumatoid Arthritis. I wish that cannabis was legal here in TX but it's not yet. Only for epilepsy. I also suffer from chronic back pain. I have a lot of reading to do here. Thank you for everything you're doing. I really appreciate everybody contributing to this cause. I'm sorry for the loss of your husband.

:welcome:Welcome to 420. Sorry to hear about the RA diagnosis. I have RA, too and there are a couple of other people here that have RA themselves or their family does (wife, etc.) so hopefully we can help figure out what will work for you while we're learning what works for us.

I think it's an AWESOME idea! Way to go, Old Bear!

GoGi,
A few years ago I had managed to have a veggie room with plants that just kept getting bigger while waiting for a space in the flower room. Eventually I had more jars than I was comfortable with and no one to share it with.

Mostly I wasted a lot of pot. Though, it is not a bad way to learn.

One of the recopies I tried was three quick washes with 190 then a water wash. It looked a lot like yours. I boiled it down some and let it air dry some. It just kept looking nastier. I never did anything with it.

My thought at the time was that there probably was nearly no oil in it. And, what was there was just other plant material.

The red ring could have come from retained water dissolving something in the partially dried buds you referenced.

Another experiment that I tried was to place alcohol extract in the sun to reduce the chlorophyll. It was some that I had soaked at room temperature and it was dark green for unreduced extract. I was thinking I would give it three or four hours and not try to get rid of all the chlorophyll, just take the edge off of the taste. Well, after about 20 minutes it was a nice translucent red. That was at 6000' but I did not expect a reaction that fast.

I never know

Evening Ms Sue :-)
Well we got our girls transplanted to there new pots today so now they can just go on a big root growing spurt( hopefully lol) we ended up going with 30:1 caps instead of 20:1, Mrs didn't feel ready to go to 20:1 and likes the 30:1 better at least for now so that's what we did. Lol we ended up with 311 caps so we missed the 30:1 by 11 so not to bad :thumb: she tried one of the 15:1 caps we made an it was a bit much lol, it was lights out in like 90 min.

The important thing is she gets such awesome rest when she has a cap and we only had 2 left of the 30:1 caps, now she should be stocked up for a bit unless she really gets after them

Hope all is well in your neck of the woods our Guardian Angel, big hugs being sent from us both and much love.

Blessed Buds our friend and keep on, keeping on. :passitleft: :circle-of-love:
