Stonecrusher's Backyard Bonanza - Bringing Out The Big Pots!

The picture below is how I feel right now.

Fucking caterpillars! My AK-47 is loaded with them. I saw a brown spot and investigated. Nearly every bud I cut into has some degree of bud rot. There may be a few that haven't been infested, but I need to take a minute, regroup, and figure out whats next.

Find 'em, kill 'em, cut the rot away, and spray with BT once a week until harvest (or after it rains and dries).
I could work on it all day from the looks of things. Even where they don't look brown, if you cut in you can find them.
Another trip to the garden center... What did I ever do to bugs??

If they don't look brown and aren't next to a brown area, leave it on the plant. And the poop will come off in the post-harvest wash. The big caterpillars have to go, and the small ones will get killed by the BT.

OK BT sprayed, and full plant inspection (like that is possible) complete for today. I know there are lots more, but Ill have to watch for signs.
Thanks for being a voice or reason! I was ready to grab the flame thrower.

Also: If I keep seeing bites out of the leaves on the indoor plant I may try the BT on it too. (BTW i just did and experiment on the indoor plant with bite marks. I turned off the lights for an hour then tried to surprise any nighttime critters. No evidence, and no harm done since they are autos).

Bad news about the long bugs Crusher. I'd spray that indoor plant with BT too -- just because.

Uh oh. Another grower getting pulled into "Elmer Fudd" mode! 😁

I had a nice visit with my friend KB today. He is a buddy that took two of my starts and planted them in his garden. I have to say he put me to disgrace with this year's grow. Look at those bushes!!!

He has an Afghan Super Skunk and an Alien OG. Planted directly in the ground in a nice sunny spot. And get this, he has given them only water the entire grow! He happens to be an experienced organic gardener so he had amended the bed before planting this spring.

He also told me he never trimmed or trained the plants at all, just pulled fan leaves as they yellow.

Here is KB next to the Alien OG. Maybe it could have used some nutes, but the buds are superb, thick and sticky.

Afghan X Super Skunk is a winner!

So many colas!!!

Damn. What a difference one more alphabet can make!

My buddy "LB" took care of one of the plants I started this year:

I couldn't resist. What you see wasn't all his fault! 😁

I followed the posts and even your journey to plant it. It isn't a total bust, but what could have been.. He needs a better garden troll

Meanwhile back in the garage..
My Fastbuds/Lowes vs. Ethos/Home Depot SIP duel is taking shape. This has been a pretty good week for the indoor plants. They are all hooking up in their SIPs and I am finally giving them all their water thru the reservoirs. This lead to a nice growth spurt.
It wasn't all easy going. I had a few bugs munching leaves and tried several things to manage them. I stunted one of the Fastbuds. It is still trying to shake it off, but we will see. With the help and advice of @InTheShed I determined I had mixed Neem too strong and I had to go on the hunt for bigger critters eating some of my plants. After I treated with diatomaceous earth for a few days I hit them with BT. I did find a dead moth in the tent and since then no more bites out of leaves.

Fastbuds/Lowes vs Ethos/Home Depot

Id say the Fastbuds 1 is going to be a really good plant. The Ethos 2 in the back is looking good too.

I have decided to let each plant tell me how it wants to grow and train it appropriately. The Ethos Bananna Daddy x Jealousy will grow untrained. It just has a nice structure I want to allow to express itself.

The Ethos Pineapple Runtz gets the Carhook treatment. Im widening out 6 of the lowers and bending over the top. This will be cool to watch.

The Fastbuds 1 got the @Justin Goody treatment. Topped at node 5 as soon as I saw first signs of flower, trimmed off lowers 1 and 2, leaving nodes 3,4,5 to train in a "six pack". It seems to like the JG haircut.

Here is Fastbuds 2. It is a shame I over-neemed it early on, because it was the better of the 2 fastbuds plants during the early weeks. Once I hit it with a over concentrated dose of Neem oil it almost died. It is making a comeback, but it is way behind.

I know this is just the same post as Saturday, but they looked so good to me today I took more pics. My phone is so full of pot pics. Kind of tricky to show anyone my family or my dog without exposing myself.

Home Depot/Fastbuds team have one strong player and one on the bench. Im thinking of retiring the bench warmer and starting a new seedling just for fun. One nice thing about autos is the unchanging light schedule allows you to have plants in veg or flower and keep them together.
Have you ever thought of having a garden where you plant a new seed every 2-3 weeks? Im tempted

Hard to believe these two were the same size before I overdosed the one on the RT with Neem. Lesson learned: Mix more carefully.

I managed to break off the top of the Ethos Pineapple Runtz (front LT) while doing "Low Stress Training", which turned into high stress training. Good thing this is a cannabis plant. It just bounces back with twice the vigor when you break it off! Where there was one, there are now three.

The Lowe's/Ethos team were slower to start but they're gaining ground. I am a bit concerned that the Banana Daddy x Jealousy in the back is maturing really fast and not getting big. But it smells great!

Interesting compulsion you have there...try not to get arrested!

Sounds like the ideal recipe for a perpetual auto tent. :thumb:
That could be my next journal... Thanks for the prompt Shed.

Sure, that's called a perpetual grow. Every two weeks would likely require space for 6 plants
So I'd probably plant every 3-4 weeks and try to keep 4 in the 2x4. I think it would work because there would really only be 2 larger plants and 2 smaller plants so they wouldn't get too crowded.
