Stinky Snid's Nursery & Flower Shop - Welcome To My Perpetual Adventure

I have a hard time believing that chart. I do not believe that any distilled or purified water has the same level of acidity as Pellegrino or Perrier, which are carbonated. Carbonation adds CO2, which turns into H2CO3 or carbonic acid. No way is reverse osmosis water pH 4.5, either.

I've called 6 different water brands on that list and they were all in the range posted so imho it's pretty on point

May I ask, can't you lower that LED closer to the canopy on the veg tent? I've heard the advantage of LED is that they don't dissipate as much heat, thus allowing you to have it closer and get the most LUX out of it. Maybe it is as close as it can be, I'm sorry if so, I just can't guess how far it is from the canopy. Rule of thumb is 27ºC(80.6 ºF) tops at the canopy level.

:Namaste:

Wonderful training sessions you have going on for the girls snid, those pictures really show you have done it a time or 2 lol. I am thinking that my next 2 seedlings will be trained this way and I will see how each way I trained them all works out and which was easier to work with in general. You're certainly keeping it green in there brother, keep up the great work :)
I've found a method that works reasonably well, wether it's top for a star pattern or for a cross pattern, they both produce great results. I think my training is approaching two thumbs up, currently we're still at one big one:thumb:I wish I had more space, cuz I'd try more things out. But for now I'm focused on producing enough to get me by without buying. Which I've done since early April now... Jawsephine gave me a scare but I made it through. Let me know if you've got training questions I'll hop right over to check out your progresses. Cheers Dick

It's exciting to watch your corkscrew grow from the beginning. I just want to bring my plants over to play with yours hoping they will grow like yours. I'm bound and determined to improve with each grow. BTW, I hope your cold gets better, I'm sniffling here too. You are a such a gifted grower, it doesn't surprise me that you finally won an accolade that you deserve so much. But then you turn around and gift your goodies too. Thank you soooo much for helping me, I will never forget you for it. Thanks to you I have my first full harvest and I'm over the moon even though I'm under the weather. You take great care of yours, and yours take great care of you. Your little soldier...G2HM
PS...I would love all those feathers you get from the ducks, I make stuff with them. No waste with us eh?! 420 Hugs
So glad to hear about the purple Kush harvest, I'd been anticipating that one for a while. I'd say just put up pictures of my girls in with yours, they'll have role models to look up to. Like a young kid and an Wayne Gretzky poster.... It might work:rofl:
I don't think I can ship duck feathers, besides unless it's a big mallard or black I usually just breastfeeding them in the field. The gf doesn't like that stuff in the house... But I'll see what I can do, it's the down your after correct? Or any feathers? Enjoy the homegrown satisfaction G2heal, very proud of my "virtual" protégé. Three gold stars for you:circle-of-love:

I start them 18"-24" inches, I've already noticed some leaf damage from the lights. What I do is let the plants grow up into the light. This way, as seedlings they get adequate light intensity and as they grow older and more resilient to light damage they approach the lights on their own. Once flower is set in, I'll regulate the height more. Each plant is levelled to the tallest canopy(raised), and kept preferably about 12" away.
Heat us not always the issue with LEDs that hurt plants, it's a very focused apparatus and the lights focused intensity can tear leaves. This light has some crazy looking reflectors to angle the light rays and focus them together... If that makes any sense... Thanks for asking, keep any thoughts or questions coming. Glad to answer as best I can.

Keep it Green :green_heart:Cheers

How was the trip Snid? Peaceful?
Three gold stars for moi? Wow thanks so much!:Namaste:
I see, your undress your birds there, makes sense, don't want to bring that stuff back home. I'm looking for wing & tail feathers only. Easy to clip off the bird, put them in a ziploc with lots of salt. Make sure you take the air out and presto, feathers ready for shipping. I can pay for any shipping costs.
Also, I posted a pic of my clone, she's ready for the dark, do you agree?
:thanks:

PS...by your date on your profile, it's been officially a year since you joined 420, what did you do before that, amazing times for amazing people. Happy 420 anniversary!:circle-of-love:

Sounds great! So when you are going for the start shaped pattern you're topping the 2 tops after the first topping has been done and then training from there? I have got 2 bent over now for experimenting with wrapping the 2 tops around the pot, I think the next 2 (CB Dream and Purple Kush) I will top twice and then train/bend from there.. So many options and things to try out, I feel I will like it better just topping more often in veg and training my branches for an even canopy even if it comes to learning about super-cropping. Thanks for being around to answer some questions bud!

A year in the books eh... Wow time flies. Relaxing and thinking is about all that I do while out in the swamp. Other than the quacking and shooting... I will do what I can to get you some nice coloured feathers. So no down... Right? I checked your pk clone and I agree with you my dear. I've already posted in your journal in regard.

Aren't you the cat that has my tutorials in his signature... Don't make me post a link. when going for the star (six mains) pattern you just top once, and train all branches outward. For the cross (4 mains) you just top once and clip the very bottom branch/growth tips and train all branches outward. I'm here if you need me, anytime Dick :Namaste:

Haha I know eh, how true is this.. I must have got something mixed in my head along with your info  So much reading all the time I can hardly remember anything lol I'm sure I will try numerous different things to see what works best for me, usually it is comes down to how easy it was and how big of a difference it made. October 2nd, Daily Update

It's a full on Sunday update. Been working most of the day down in the lab. I helped my new local grow protégé mix some soil and set him up with some good auto seeds to try out. So all my mixing stuff was ready to go for my 6 new autos that are already soaking. I am so fond of Crystal I decided to grow 6 of them.

Here's the whole gang in the hot tub.
20161002_162307.jpg

Here's their new home for the next 100 or so days.
20161002_145145.jpg
I'm hoping to harvest these at around the same time as the batch of photoperiods. The plan is as I devised in the previous update. As the current autos finish, the photos will go into flower and these 6 white Widow Auto will occupy the Vegetating Tent, with the lagging Hailey I'm sure and maybe one more surprise. For now let's take a look inside. Oh I almost forgot... I found a lady bug and installed her inside the flower tent. It's been 2 days now and she's still alive. Not sure that's a good sign, but hopefully she taking care of business.

2016-10-02_18_05_57.jpg

And I suppose I should give a harvest update on Explosia.

We'll see how we do weight wise, I'm estimating 2.5-3oz. I think there was twice as many branches as Cleopatra, but the buds are visibly smaller. A few more days to dry, she's been hanging since Friday night.

Notes ~
I took a clone cutting from Marge and Felicity. The one from Marge was her first branch up the stem that had become dominant. The cut from Felicity was the extendo branch that was dominant to the others. I topped all main branches at the pots edge too, they are all more or less even now. I put them into straight perlite, the only way I've successfully cloned before. Marylou is a perfect example of my training for a cross flux. I've got high hopes for this cheese, I've got a huge appetite for some cheese since a kind soul gave me some to try. :Namaste: Marylou has been topped all around, each mainstem at the pots edge. Felicity being topped is going to be a project to keep under control. They will both be up potted this week in preparation for the flip a week later. Maude is a true beauty aswell, she very symmetric and in great health. I will up pot her with the other two into my largest pots. The corkscrew gal will remain in her pot until she makes one lap around. She'll then go into a mid size pot before her final destination. The training is going well, she actually rounding turn 3 coming off the backstretch. She starting to look like a stegosausrus with all her spinal shoots.

Notes ~
Hailey is not budding up very well, I'm a little concerned about her outcome. I'm afraid she'll be nothing but tiny fluffy buds, hardly worth the 100+ days of caring for her. Bailey however is setting herself up for a solid finish. If I can keep the dying single calyxes from rotting, which I think is doable, she'll be larger than Jawsephine was. Her top buds are huge and they're still growing. Crystal is two days past her pre harvest flush, it will be Thursday or Friday darkness for her. Debbie is finally showing some amber, quite a bit showed up over the past couple days. I put it at 5%mida and maybe 15% tops. She'll get a flushing in the next couple days. Hope my little lady bug enjoys her new home, it's definitely warmer than outside.

see you all next time, glad to see you here.

Wow, 6 seeds at one time! Glad Crystal didn't let you down, now you want to multiply her. As for the corkscrew experiment, let the green games begin. Now we get to see the true art of human manipulation for good causes though. Biting my nails as we speak...tissues in case I need them...lol:thanks:

PS, no down, it's too difficult to work with. Just wing and tail feathers...thanks, but not a must have, whenever you can remember.

I've like to make good things multiply, my spirits are high as I sow these seeds. A friend had inspired me to grow these, now I just need some names. Any ideas... :circle-of-love:
This corkscrew idea is slowly making grounds. I will not give up on this challenge, around and around the pot she goes. It's quite the sight to see for me, I can only imagine folks seeing it for the first time. Glad to see you G2heal :thanks:
I'll see what I can do about some iridescent coloured wings. I made my own turkey fan with the feathers from the one I harvested last spring. Cured with salt for weeks, I know the procedure quite well. I'll keep you posted on my good fortunes.

your setup is awesome. Wheres the best place to acquire a tent?
Depending on where you are, I would order direct from Mars Hydro.
Couldn't agree more, you can find them at your local hydro store but it's usually overpriced. You could go eBay or Amazon but you never know what you'll pay exactly with shipping and what not. The folks at mars hydro will talk you through and figure what size you need/want and get it to you fast. Their Tents are high quality built, my cheap tent is already close to needing replacement. So IMO, mars hydro is the choice, cheap price good quality and awesome service and support. :thumb:

Hey Snid, great growing man! :passitleft:
Thanks Greensmurf, I do my best:thumb:glad you're liking the views.

Do you have a rule of thumb for defoliation during veg? I can't justify cutting off healthy leaves but other growers seem to have fewer qualms than I do.

Great growing. Thanks for your constant support. I'm really liking the leaf structure on the Bubblegum. The fan leaves are so bulbous!
:Namaste:
That Maude of mine is making things easy on me, training is going splendidly. As for defoliation during veg, It's hard to explain, but I remove the oldest fan leafs when they look like they're impeding the growth or direction of growth of new branches. I do it then, and if the leaf is pointing down into the ground and sometimes I clip the top facing leaves too so folks can see my training better. I leaf tuck as much as possible up to that point. Hope that clarifies my own defoliation ideas, take what you want from it. Always happy to support a new and aspiring grower, I was In your shoes this time last year. :Namaste:

October 4th, Daily Update

I believe my pest control lady bug has expired. She was very slow moving today and wouldn't fly when poked. Must be running out of food, which for me, is a good sign. I've tried to use a uvb/a bulb in the flower tent for the past few days. I turn it on for the afternoon then off after dinner, running it for about 4 hours a day.

I've got 6 pots sown with White Widow autos, a few days from now I hope to see at least 5. One pot has two seeds that didn't seem viable, hoping one will catch. (they didn't sink and never popped a taproot) I mixed a bunch of fresh soil for these autos and for transplanting the photos. I found a 20 lbs bag of perlite  I'll never need to buy more in my life....its freaking huge!

Total summer photoperiod harvest came out to 265g. I'm very happy with 1/2 lbs of weed to sit on until next harvest. The stash drawer is almost full, with two plants to be harvested this week. :) let's get on with some of those pics, wouldn't you say...

Woossa :Namaste: Maude got uppotted today, her routs were very dense and ready to be scored and placed into some fresh, super perlite laden, medium. I re trained all her limbs after the transplant. Felicity broke a main branch at the stalk, it's been taped and braced. Hope I don't lose half this plant due to my clumsiness. Marylou is making me look good, she's doing great with her training. Everything is even Steven with her limbs.

Hailey is looking very scrawny, her buds are not filling in at all. I hope she's only halfway through flower and not nearing the end. I see dying single calyxes all up and down her 3 foot stalks. Branches below are slowly dying, I've been clipping more shoots as they do so raising her skirt up that much higher. Bailey is very much like Jawsephine was, except no mould. I've been pulling the buds apart to allow air in there, also looking in there for potential mould development. Crystal is going to be harvested on Saturday by my estimates, going dark on Thursday afternoon. Debbie got her flush and is heading for harvest in the next 10 days or so. She'll be a mid week gal, it'll keep my updates full and reps coming in. :circle-of-love:
