Stinky Snid's Crop King Journal Contest - Northern Lights & White Widow

How long do the Autos usually take? Does the extra training add a lot of extra time until harvest? if so, is the added training and time worth the investment? Thamks for answering my earlier questions! your girls look lovely!:Namaste:
Every auto is different from each strain to each genotype and phenotype. For these northern lights the package says 8 weeks flowering time, so I assume that's once it starts to flower. I've had 4 of these autos now, and they all showed their flowers at different weeks. Pris. Week-4 Nadine week 6-7 and Maria was like week 8 or 9 and this one is already on week 6. So add 8 weeks to that and it's about right on the money for my girls. 84 days for pris, 105 days for Nadine and Maria is on day 108 or so with a week to go at least. So the short answer is yes its worth the investment even if it's just for the great compliments and it keeps my hands busy. But it surely slows down the vegetative stage, check Lupey's as a comparison her growth is really good. Thanks for being a part of my journal.

Hey snid comparing pics it looks like our growth comparison is quite different for only 5 days apart.
I does look like it, but if you convert my horizontal growth to your vertical.. Then it's about even, although my training has certainly slowed her down some you've got a good healthy girl you should be very happy. And your lst is looking good too.

Mar. 17th, what a busy day outside the nursery. Late night update for y'all, no extraordinary happenings today. As another day passes the growth is accelerating and is a healthy green.

Ellabella day 52 : 7.6lbs
mar17ella7_6.jpg
just letting her be

Winnie day 52 : 6.8 lbs
mar17win6_8dry.jpg
she'll be getting fed in the morning. Pot is dry now, but it's almost lights out so I'll wait.

Leialoha day 44 : 6.2 lbs
mar17leia6_2fed.jpg
also need a feeding, busy morning for me...

Till the next update, KIG everyone :green_heart:cheers

They look healthy and beautiful Snid. Can't wait for them to balloon up.
Me neither my friend, surprised the auto isn't flowering yet. As for the two photos they're just getting to be where I want them. Thanks 4x4grow!!

Under mars reflectors atm ? Waiting for pistals then the 400? Looking good man i said it before your training is impressive ! :goodjob:
The auto will stay under the twin reflectors, thinking about two more... And the photo tent is where my mars 400 is located. I've learned alot in a couple grow attempts, I'd consider myself a well prepared newbie. Thanks rhettorikz, for the confidence boost and regards.

perfect training mate:goodjob:
Well sir, I thank you very much. I'm just getting warmed up. I'm going to be onto a new Journal very soon with many many more plants. Stay tuned for more.

KiG y'all :green_heart:cheers

Mar. 18th, It's Friday!! We're all working... for the weekend:cheer: I've decided to take more meticulous notes for the girls on a daily basis. I won't be posting all of it as to not make this journal too technical. I've developed a nice spreadsheet for all my records of soil ph, temps, weight. Air temps and Rh. Nutrient solution Ph and ppm along with a checkbox of all my nutrients and amount of water used. All this is brought on by my new grow toy, my sick ass Bluelab Ph pen and EC/ppm pen.:high-five: Yippee!

Ellabella day 53 : 7.2 lbs

Still letting her stretch herself before next round of training. She bushes up so fast.

Winnie day 53 : 6.4 lbs
20160318_155524.jpg
not much to update on Winnie, she got her feed this morning. Full dose of g/m/B, b52,silicate, calmag+. Her lions mane has now successfully become two growth tips and there was no stress involved in that flux topping.

Leialoha day 45 : 6.0lbs
mar18leia6_0fed.jpg
She got a half adult feeding of g/m/B, b52,silicate and calmag+ all in two litres of water.
Her topped end tips are growing well.

Fluxed?

I wish I hadn't broken that secondary shoot. She's got a really nice star pattern going on. No pistils yet.

Hey snid you talk about removing fan leaves on your autos how many can I remove without hurting her

Hey Lupey, I wish I'd started my other journal. I'd show you what I usually do for topped autos. But to put it simply I usually pluck the largest fan leaves where secondary shoots are starting between stem and the leaf stem. (node) if you look at the shoot growing it is squeezing it's way past the larger fan leaf stem. Eventually this shoot will be so big as to snap off that leaf, so I basically hurry the process. Cutting that leaf stem out of the way allows for unobstructed growth of the new shoot. If your worried about stress you can just bend the leaf stems back like a heart shape, opening up the nodes and then tucking them. You can defoliate larger fans without much stress. Imo. Take a few at a time, I try to keep 8t symmetrical. Since they will be discarded sooner or later by the plant as it grows they are less likely to cause stress . Hope you got something out of all that jibberish. Later Lupey...

Snid, your plants are like monks bowing and praying to the earth, well with a little help :thumb:
I hear them singing Tom Petties "I wont back down" :bravo:
grats on the bluelab pen, epic gear upgrade. :welldone: :cheer:
Did you get combo that does ph and temp as well? I stare at one everytime
I am at my local hydroponics store dreaming of
the day when my cheapoes stop working.

:Namaste:

Hey snid she made quite a jump since yesterday I'm not sure if I can get the LST benefits you are getting because of my light configuration:hmmmm:
Thanx snid just got her out of the tent and brought her in the living room to play
I just took a look at your girls new figure, splendid! It's all about patience and not neglecting the training. It takes a while to go from vertical to horizontal, check my other journal, Nadine was lst only. Glad your spending time with her, more Co2 for her. :)

They're looking great! Seem to be vegging very nicely and filling out fast.
You're telling me CMJ, every time I come back from work they've outgrown their restraints and need readjustments. A few days of neglect and I'm spending the better part of an hour redoing my previous work. *note to self (get a taller stool) * the photos are doing great for the amount of abuse I've put them through. But soon they'll be free and ready to go into flower.

The combo is the grower's box. Ph pen, ppm/ec pen plus care kit. Yes It automatically adjusts with temperatures, which the temp. is indicated upon reading. Very helpful to have, litmus type Ph paper is crap. If it's all you can get then fine, but a Ph pen is crucial. Doesn't need to be top shelf, but it needs to concise and precise. I just figured with all the gardening coming up this summer it will be getting good use so as they say... "you go cheap, You grow cheap." I can't believe it took me 3 grows to realize the importance of Ph in every step. That's also true for soil ph meters.

I now see the importance of having a Ph swing as your pot goes from saturated to parched. While extremely wet my soil ph is 5.5 or so and by the time it's dry the Ph has risen to 6.5 - 6.8. I'm in soiless so my optimum range is exactly that. Some nutes like low Ph and some like higher, a slow swing from a low to higher Ph allows for the nutes to be used as the "soil" dries and Ph rises. Blah blah blah, is that even making sense... Lol I'm tired. goodnight!

Congrats on the new pens Snid :bravo:

I got the bluelab combo meter for my current grow, was using the GH strips before and boy, what a difference! They make the job to keep the stats in check very, very easy :cheesygrinsmiley:
