Finally got to roll a nice joint from Grape Dog yesterday with few guys I do a 4-day beer, food and music party ATM. You don't really feel that old school Grape Ape kick in this bud, so it must've taken after the father Chemdawg '91/NYCD plant. Basically it's an indica-dominant, heavy-hitting, kinda slow motion bud if you know what I mean :cheesygrinsmiley: There's a certain similarity to OG Kush high, but it lasts shorter. Still, enough clear-headed to satisfy my likings, around 70/30 indica to sativa split. Very good, musky, herbal, lemoney and fizzy taste. You get red eyes straight away and light euphoria comes in but there's no zip. Great stuff for social smoking by the end of the day. It mellows you out, although one guy lost track for half an hour after I gave him the joint, and the other one couldn't even finish it. They're just not used to the kind stuff I grow around here. Saying that I think this strain just might have a future here :smokin2:

It has to be satisfying to consistently knock them over with your quality Conradino. I take it you were hoping for more zippiness?

Not really, I knew it would be an indica before I even grew her :Hookah:

I went to water Ultra Dogs and sativas today in 37C or around 100F in the shadow. Really hot I have to say, and humidity is killing me. They've been doing good after 10 days without water with only one getting slightly stressed. Indica pheno is better for my conditions I have to say, no sign of stress at all. Also, we have 6 confirmed gals as of today, which makes me want to have these 3 males to pick the best one for pollination. On my windowsill a Mexican sativa started flowering, a gal too, but very slow one. I'll drop some pics soon.

Enjoy your evening folks :tokin:

Thanks for the update Conradino. Which are the strains you've found grow best in your area?

Re: Still Growing - SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Sys

From my experience 60-100% sativas grow best. Little to none mold problems in September/October. Better quality bud. And they still sustain heatwaves pretty well as well as constant rainfalls. I have had the best experience with Californian and Spanish strains here to be honest, cause they are the ones I can really push up to the upper limits with my organic skills. This year there's more indicas growing :tokin: And I know they should be taken to F2 to be better fitted to my climate. Everything depends with them if they finish spot on if they are potent or yummy and if they're gonna produce. But I know there's some heavy genetics in there and I hope they're gonna thrive in Italy. So far I'm very positive. Wasn't easy though, very complicated, fragile genetics sometimes, and it took me two seasons to figure it all out :Namaste:

Few pics of My Mexican sativa and Aurora Ultra. Uff I'm fried with this heat and work as we've been unmounting the party space. We have had Mexican flowering for few days, but vigour cannot be detected which is sometimes like that with pandraces, they just do what they want and you have to roll with it. These really take long to finish and I really dunno how much this one's gonna take :loopy: :tokin: This was a dud to start with, a weak pheno which I just took time to care about cause I figured more sativa smoke will come in handy :cheesygrinsmiley: She had a hard time with the heat and all, and started dropping old fan leaves quickly. It stopped though.

And Aurora Ultra is kicking slowly into late flowering as pistils turn amber and buds plump up. Brix is 14/15 as of last reading 3 days ago, and plant really starts to stink after a whole day in the sun when she throws very different kind of terpenes depending on the time of the day. Dominant however is peppery, fuely and truffly bouquet, kinda brutal and very dank mix. Buds are getting hard as rock kind with big calyxes tightly packed around of limey green color, and these are covered with dark tight spikey fan leaves which turn dark purple or even black further in flowering. Trichomes are covering the calyxes completely and they are rather small. Last year I screwed it, but this year I'm sure I can push her up even to 17-18 Brix with the right kind of treatment, but I have to start injecting potassium in low doses, that's my idea.

Contadino, those plants have some of the heartiest leaves I have ever seen! The ridge definition really appeals to my linear artist persona. Thanks for sharing. I just love dropping by here because there's always something amazing. Without you I would have missed out on so much.
