So my AU hermied as I finished with 25 viable feminized seeds that I picked when trimming the bud after just 3 days on the dryer. Temps do not help to dry it slowly so I had to pick it earlier than normally. Why she hermied? I think famous OG Kush genetics came through finally :cheesygrinsmiley: Actually I found one male pod very early in the flowering, but I thought that was it, and I was wrong. Only lower calyxes got pollinated though so number of pods was very small, 3 or 4. It's gonna be interesting to see if these seeds hermie when grown or they produce normal flowers.

Buds look and smell killer. They are very similar to OG Kush flowers, but there's a consistent sweet peas aroma going with the usual gasoline and pepper. Lots of resin here, I got a nice bit of scissor hash after I finished trimming, which was a breeze by the way, excellent calyx-to-leaf ratio :rollit:

Thx man, I really appreciate it :tokin:

Conradino, beautiful buds!! :)

Absolutely! :bravo:

Beautiful produce, complete with its own feminized seeds? Yes!! :cheertwo:

Congrats on the harvest and beans C.

I guess this a serious upside...High Brix feminized seeds :tokin:

Congrats on the harvest and beans C.

I might keep these just in case for clone keeping, Italy is very close to legalization :thumb:

Re: Still Growing - SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Sys

Yeah very weird and I never had one before. Temps for sure didn't have anything to do with that, I think my buddy never really checked them for non-herming as he was after the bud structure and potency, and started cloning the shit out of the strain as soon as he found the right keepers. And he feminized them all by backcrossing if I remember well. We'll see what the other ones show. Anyway, they won't necessarily hermie I think these seeds as my OG Kush never hermied, and all this stock is from self-pollinated clone. But there's a risk they'll carry this gene which is a risk for the outdoor crop grown in bigger bunches. It would be the best to keep this line of seeda as a clone as we know this pheno can go to 20 Brix at least :tokin:

Hey Conradino
Interesting to hear about the seed in OG female. I got the same from my DNA OG. Yesterday I was trimming a flower and found a seed in my OG as well... I'm curious to see if it will give me hermies or female...
Do you usually score above 20 brix? I am enjoying my flowers after 2 weeks curing and from a cycle where my ladies scored 12-15 brix and I can already see how much smoother the vapor is compared to my earlier cycle... Huge difference. I managed to dry them in 7 days, not perfect but I live in a very humid place, often above 70% RU and I didn't want to incur into any mold problems
I have only grown indoor but I can see that outdoor plants have smaller hearts compared to indoor. Does it mean more trimming to have high quality flowers?
Man, I'd be so happy if 420 Mag could organize national and international meetings where we could all meet and exchange opinions and share some of the love we put into growing all of these gifts nature gave us... It looks like the 2016 U.S. election can be a step change in that direction if the right people go
To power and if more U.S. States will start legalizing it then the market may open much sooner than I expected

Re: Still Growing - SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Sys

Hey man! One seed is not a lot, outdoor it's just usually stray pollen which is always in the air. I might've cause some hermie reaction by not putting her to sleep always on time. I mean there was some lengthening or cutting short dark hours, and it was the shock probably, I just talked to my friend and he confirmed it. It's not really an indoor strain, so not used to photoperiod manipulation. Well, these seeds remain, I'm drying them now.

This grow was my first reading above 20, the rest of the plants scored from 12 to 17. But it was 2nd run soil, and I feel I just got the load and proportion of cations right. Less is more, no shit. They really smoke amazing, taste is fantastic and you can feel minerality on the upper palatte, this sparkliness, stinginess :tokin: As far as hearts, you mean calyxes right, are concerned these were small plants so they never grow huge buds. Directly in the ground that's different thing, there there are no limits. International exchange, I called it earlier :smokin::theband:

Just to hit on that Purpling thing. There plants like this Purple Indica plant
IMG_27521.JPG
that look like this from start to finish, and the purple doesn't effect the THC level at all. Then there plants that turn purple because of tempature and that in effect degrades the THC content, so the darker the purple the less THC like in this Aurora Ultra plant
IMG_8875.JPG
it looks like this because It was out side in 40 degrees. It sure is pretty, but no where near the THC levels as the same plant budded out green. TOAST

Hmmm so I got Super Frosty this time I guess, lem :thumb: :tokin: I'm just smoking sugar trim with hash actually and it's an excellent bud that relaxes your muscles after 10-15 minutes, any pain just goes away so there has to be decent CBD content, maybe even around 0,4-0,5%. Actually, there's an MK Ultra rich CBD pheno about which I never knew about before I started searching for info. So maybe just something really nice got into AU :cheesygrinsmiley: Also very giggly she gives you this stupid smile and you laugh without any reason :yahoo: But very heavy indica provoking couchlock issues more often than not, and thus great movie strain :tokin:

One thing I forgot to tell you about this 2nd run is I added more calcium carbonate, which you should do if you still have less than 20-30% And then I also mixed in clinoptolite which is a kind of zeolite. As it's a mineral I applied a lot of it around the roots with some crushed sandstone. Wonder if this has anything to do with High Brix reading? :loopy::tokin:

About CBD.... This last closed cycle I've grown a 1:1 CBD:THC sativa with the specific purpose of mixing it with my other greens... Personally I'm not a huge fan of CBD strain if it's used alone. In my opinion CBD strains perform best when mixed with other regular strains. I'm currently mixing 70% sativa or indica with 30% CBD SharkShock and the result is a very fine smoke that takes away any anxiety that could eventually araise and increase the body relaxation without getting couch lock ... The effect is very long lasting with one additional speed. Have you ever tried?

I never grew any CBD rich strain, but I've started thinking about getting some Cannatonic as I have spine problems that I could definitely tackle with it. This we'll see as I have a lot of strains to be worked out into F2 or that should be pollinated by something else.

By they way some pics of Jarillo de Sinaloa, the last one of forced flowered plants this year. I think she's becoming one of the prettiest plants I've grown although a delicate pheno that gave me a lot of pain in the ass. But with a little bit of compost tea she's flowering well. I'm gonna start her on some fish and lactobacillus acidophilus very soon. Very interesting smell, sweet, reminding me of Turkish raisin bread :cheesygrinsmiley:

Pretty interesting look. I've seen that you take often away all/most of the side branches and bend parallel/LST in these small ladies. Can I ask you which are the advantages compared to doing a regular grow in larger pots? Outdoor grows don't have the same light problems as indoor... is selection decreasing yields while making the flowers more homogeneous and "juicy"?

Re: Still Growing - SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Sys

I don't take away anything, I just manipulate the structure by bending, twisting and pulling down. I sometimes prune with bushy indicas, but that's it. Advantages are plenty. First, I can test proper High Brix soil this way. Second, I grow them almost without a stretch due to minimal or no temps difference between day and night. Third, I use summer Sun Index which gives me tastier, more potent and upbeat weed. Fourth, due to inducing 11/13 photoperiod I finish them in 5 weeks usually... well with this Mexican it's gonna take longer for sure, but still it's gonna be quite short.

I don't quite get what you mean by selection? You mean selecting strains?

:Namaste:

Re: Still Growing - SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Sys

I thought you selected the bud by taking away some of them but it's clear now. I guess they r all from clones then?

Re: Still Growing - SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Sys

No, they are all from seed actually :smokin2:
