Still Growing - SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Systems

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

Plants are really taking off out there. Now the fun begins growing in leaps and bounds. Buds look tasty. DJ he's the blueberry guy. I've had acouple sit downs with the guy. But I did get one of his latest creations awhile back. Just wasn't for me. I figured seeing hes growing his real close to the same area I live might help. But these peoples are growing in controlled greenhouses. I do have to say DJ Short is a well accomplished grower in the PNW,, Oregon/Washington areas. Looking good my friend, Keepem Green

Hey C hows it going? Havnt been on the site in awhile and was very happy to find your new grow when I cane on today. Your grow last year was very inspirational I love the amount of time and effort you put towards your grows it encourages us all to grow better! Everythings looking great and I look forward for to the rest of the season :). Hey quick question, do you have any experience with top 44? I came across a top 44 X bubblegum and it just broke soild about a week ago. Any advice would be great i dont know much at all about the top 44 side of the strain. Keep up the great work!!

Thx a lot, NCW. Plants are doing fine and update is coming! I never really grew anything from DJ Short, but guy is a legend, so I should at least try his gear. I might grab Flo next season.

Welcome to the grow, man. Dunno anything about your strain unfortunately, but keep growing it and you'll see what it looks like :thumb:

Check this out! DJ Short says why you should use 11/13 photoperiod. Apparently the word start getting out:tokin:

This was the video that made me decide to make my switch. Having just harvested my Dark Devil Auto grown under 11/13 and sampling it to find it's some of the best I've ever smoked - and essentially raw at that - I'm glad I took his advice.

Cool to see him... I do not agree with him but interesting to see where some of my genetics have come from.

I can't believe he told folks to all go outside and grow "sweet spots" for 30 years :cheesygrinsmiley: ... well I can but that is a rant I won't go into here!

No, they won't go outdoor in big cities, but with time if they keep legalizing, these green rooftops might serve a good purpose to cannabis growers :thumb:

He is talking about breading a pure landrace strain. If your neighbor on the next rooftop (30' higher than yours) decides to breed outside there goes all your work BAM! and if the wind is just right there goes all their work too! On a grander scale pollen can travel for miles...

Good point Buckshot. So we end up with genetic soup and too many seeds?

That's true and with hemp in USA as a legal crop that's gonna meet a lot of questions. Greenhouse with HEPA filters is one option for the future and indoor warehouses another one. But I wouldn't hang up on this for too long, we'll solve it eventually I'm sure.

Anyway, if you have 72 minutes to kill time and you're an organic grower, especially TLO/LOS one, I suggest watching this panel from last year's Emerald Cup. You got Jorge Cervantes, Jeffrey Lowenfels, Dragonfly Earth Medicine, John Anderson. Now I'm quite advanced in growing weed but still found few things enlightening like hay as a source of protozoa, how mycorrhizae spore in the pot, and weed itself as a foliar spray. I really recommend it cause I watched almost all of them and I think that's the best one!

Ok, so a promised update. First windowsill gals and later in the week rest of the plants!

OG Kush by the end of flowering. I think I have a week here or so before she's finished. She got some diluted fish powder with some lithothamnium yesterday and won't get much more. Dank as it gets I tell you. Lemoney/piney/musky/minty smell with some sweetness that started just now. I'm really satisfied how she comes up this time as last year I screwed it up completely. Hard strain to grow and extremely susceptible to mold. In fact any time it rains I pull her inside as I fear I'm gonna get a moldy bud like last year, and RH is around 70% at the moment. Resin is everywhere on the sugar leaves, one of the best trichomes producer I saw in my life.

Aurora Ultra which has just started to flower. She was transplanted into air-pot yesterday. Initially not very happy in High Brix soil, but after topping with compost and fed with proper organic tea happier every day. This strain was created by pollinating OG Kush with MK Ultra male and then crossing this F1 with Aurora Indica. Purple beast which takes much longer to finish than usual indica but very strong and long-lasting high is a real treat. Very tight bud structure so LST hast to be started early and heavy pruning is a must. My favorite nighttime smoke. There are more growing in The Mountain Spot which I'm gonna visit this week.

Jarillo de Sinaloa, Mexican landrace. This is the weakest pheno I got so I decided to keep it at home and make another bonsai out of it. I try to make it healthier but it goes slowly. Maybe in a week I'm gonna start force-flowering.

Looking wonderful as always Conradino. These bonsai beauties you grow are so lovely. My Dark Devil Auto finished out at 10.5" under 11/13 lighting and she was amazingly beautiful at harvest the other day. I quick dried some so Dale could try it before he had to go into hospice on Friday and the high is possibly the best I've ever smoked. I swear, I stay high over 24 hours with this one. Unbelievable. It's going to be a challenge to get it through the cure, since I have nothing else to smoke. It's so loaded with trichs that she's going to take longer to dry. Surprisingly potent for an auto. Easily twice as potent as my THC Bomb Auto was.

I love that OG Kush. Frosty as she can be. Your grows fascinate me. It's always a pleasure to stop by your room.

That must be hell of a weed :thedoubletake::laughtwo::tokin:

Looking great.

I like your Aurora with that training.

Yeah the same style as always and simple too :yummy:

I'm getting ready to do a seed order and this Dark Devil Auto is definitely on the list. What Ziggy and I are doing is designed to fly through the strains looking for definite keepers. How delightful to find a keeper on my first plant harvested from this tent.

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

I broke some sweat today to show you how Ultra Dogs and sativas look after few days of rain. I brought some horsetail to use it as mulch and also did some trimming around the plants, you know bush grows very fast in The Sunny Spot :laughtwo: One plant was tipped over by rainstorm so I fixed it. Then I started smelling the leaves for the first terpenes information, and as I expected they mostly reek of myrcen on the spicy end which is just like nutmeg except one pheno which actually smells fruity. If that's the male I'm gonna use that one to make F2 seeds. I think I'm gonna use 2 female phenos just in case.

Ok, here they are. I think there's another pheno which I considered indica bushy thing at first but then I discovered it actually has more delicate leaves. Anyway, check them out!

The Ultra Dogs are amazing Conradino. Thanks for sweating for the greater good. That last one - wow - that's going to be a monster bush. :thumb:

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

Not that much actually cause it's OG/sativa leaning so once she starts to stretch internodal distance will go up so buds will be fluffier and the whole structure is gonna hemp up a bit. I can already see how these two tops are going up. If it's a male and he shows sex straight away I'd normally ditch it. But it might be very good smoke, you never know until you try the bud :tokin:
