Still Growing - SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Systems

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

Thanks C, sorry to take your time.

The rootball cutting thing sounds terrifying (something might go wrong) topping I can do......

So you don't think just water for a while would slow them down?

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

It won't they'll stretch no matter what. Try to top them hard, you're gonna get much shorter plants and you can scrog it later on.

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

Hi conradino
Trying to get some sativa experience and gone thru your and some other journals.

I ordered some beans based on the stuff I read.
ACE Pannama and Zamaldelica
Seedsman African Buzz / Malawi Gold variation
Secret Valley Jamaica Grape
and Sick Meds Green Crack

I would like to know if this the green crack you where talking about ?

Your Nanda Devi sound´s great too, do you think it could be grown indoors ?

I got about 7" available for max plant height and a Platinum P 600 + P 450
I grow in soil 5-7gal

This will be the first sativas I grow and are there some general tips ?
I am quite new to growing currently on my 4th and things go really well so far.

Thx DG

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

My Green Crack was from HSO, but you're gonna get the same genetics I guess if they selfed original clone to get the seeds. Nanda Devi can be grown indoor but you have to be prepared for fusses, long flowering time, sudden shooting up and so on. With sativas you want to start them in small pots in order to give less space for the roots, and flip quickly, maybe after 4 weeks of veg. Also give very little nitrogen and feed very little in general if you do it. Gray could add something to it possibly as he grows sativas indoor :)

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

:thanks:

for the feeding tip.
I still try to find some substrate in EU to use Doc´s kit hope I get time to find something.

And yes i still follow Graytail , Ziggi´s and Doc´s journals :cheesygrinsmiley:
Hard to look at those plants and not able to use HB jet.

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

I'm quite sure they're gonna post Doc's kit to EU countries, but you'd better ask him yourself. Well, this grow is aimed towards achieving High Brix weed outdoor with true organic methods, and I'll be able to say something very soon as my windowsill plants finish flowering. I'd be satisfied with 14 Brix in the beginning, and anything above will be greeted with satisfaction :)

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

Doc will but I have to find some substrate I can buy to put it in.

I cant find something like Promix ect and most have to much stuff in it.

I plan to get a kit and try it with stuff I can find here and test it in the next year.

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

Did you look into Plagron Light? Otherwise get a dirt from your garden. I do it every year, but I have pretty good soil.

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

I will try Plagron and BioBizz Light mix and see what I can find else.
But I have to prepare for this and got no hurry other than get a sativa to smoke. :volcano-smiley:

I can´t hurt my grow to much as all is needed so I will build a little test grow area end of year if all goes well.
Was some big investment and much work in the last 12month to get everything rolling.

Glad I found :420: and the great helpful people here to get a big head start.

My first grow after 1 Autorun was 4 Blue Dream with a P 450 and 2 cheap LED pulled 430W and give me 410g dry
+ leafs and popcorn.
Never could have done that without the great tutorials, journals and most of all people here :Namaste:

:thanks:

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

Pro-Mix is nothing more than Canadian peat with high-calcium limestone to balance pH. Pro-Mix HP has added perlite and mycos :cheesygrinsmiley:

If you can source peat, you can add your own limestone for pH, along with 27% perlite, and mycos. You could probably even have genuine PUR (Pro-Mix mycos) shipped to Europe, but other mycos will work. The ratio for limestone shouldn't be that hard to calculate.

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

In Italy you can find peat in every supermarket, but limestone is a surprisingly niche product. But if you find these two you're set as Graytail said.

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

I was looking for peat and could not find it other than 100g blocks for orchid´s.
Limestone and minerals are no big problem here.

But if it is available in Italy I will find a way to get it here or do a trip.
Mycos is no problem here I still use it.

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

Just over the border from Switzerland, eh? :)

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

OK guys, so Temps are up to 28°C in the shadow which are low 80s in Fahrenheit and RH is around 40%, good two days of sun :)
I went to check on Ultra Dogs and Grape Dogs outdoor today and most of them they're all right. Only one UD has been chewed by snails, caterpillars or other shit, I put a wedlock around it so it can grow back, it happened before, so nothing to worry about. I also started digging a bit to make space for more plants there, I think I'm gonna put one Colombian and one Mexican there just in case :)

And here they are by the way:

I'm really looking forward to catching at least one female of each as this could be another nice bud for my sativa collection :tokin: And when talking about sativas I have to say I got a really sativa-dominant or more like skunky pheno of Grape Ape. She's just had Brix measures and it's 12, so maybe I'll break 14 after all and will go even higher in a week or two :) It took a bit until all the LSTed branches caught up with flowering, but now it's really happening. Pistils are long and curvy, and I can see trichs on them with a naked eye :) I also pruned her a little bit today, and I do it only with my bonsai plants when it's getting really crowded and leaves start covering the budsites. I never defoliate heavily.

Here are the pics:

Grape Dog is definitely a kushy/indica kind of pheno with very fair green leaves, and bulky budsites, which thicken a little bit more every day. Not much branching here, but first calyxes have nice purple hue, also petioles are still reddish, so this is definitely something genetics related. Old fan leaves started greening this night, so she's sucking the nitrogen now pretty heavily to build buds and grow more foliage. This stocky silhouette and mixture of green/red reminds me of some old school 90's genetics, maybe Master Kush or something like that, but it's not really something that Afghan would look like, so I'm pretty intrigued. Might be good bud when it's done :tokin:

And here's O.G. Kush with her well-known shape and dark, waxy leaves. She's been forced for few days now, and is gonna flower pretty soon. I fimmed her and here's the effect, more secondary growth, and more budsites at the main stem. Also LST helps to keep this strain low as it's normally very stretchy with practically no branching.

Here she is:

And last but not least a young Aurora Ultra in its viney glory. Yeah, looks much like a sativa and it also finishes around middle October normally, although it gives very strong and long-lasting indica punch.

Here we have it:

Ok, that's it folks. I hope you've enjoyed the showcase :Namaste: :tokin:

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

So I broke the main stem on Grape Ape doing morning LST. I had to tape it and let go a bit. Should be ok, I broke another one few days ago and she didn't even feel it. Anyway, I got lithotamnium calcareum yesterday from a growshop nearby and I'm gonna use it on flowering plants. This stuff is 80% calcium carbonate, 10% magnesium, 1.3% iron + trace minerals. We'll see if it helps to raise the Brix. Have a green one all of you :tokin:

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

Girls are looking great. When you have the optimum light like outdoors, it's sure best not to cut any leaves back. Unless they are ugly and bother ya or like you did open alittle spot or two. Is a time and place tho. Leaves are a plants power plant. Girls look great Keepem Green

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

I agree, but indoor people like to experiment with defoliation and stuff, and some say they get the results. I say keep the trimming to minimum in early flowering, then watch how she bushes out. Start to take the leaves that block the light to the budsites, and if you want more productivity also trim the lower undergrowth, but total defoliation I'd omit. Everything that goes beyond removing 40-50% of foliage will stunt the plant, and she'll react by growing it back.
