Still Growing - SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Systems

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

Congrats on the two ladies!!!! :circle-of-love: I just love the way you train them  my lst never looks this pretty :high-five: in fact just snapped one of the two top cola's on my outside lady. I've placed the snapped branch in water, prayers for roots please!!! :laughtwo:

Do you force the flowering at this point? Just curious how should I proceed, cause I keep waiting for flowering to start off the babies on the balcony, but it seems no early flowers yet.

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

I've been forcing for two weeks now, but flowering needs time when you switch from naturally increasing daylight to 11/13 like I did. But tomorrow or day after tomorrow I'll see pistils finally, cause budsites started forming a flower shape already. I also placed my broken top in water and I'm waiting for it to root :)

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

...here in Oregon we got legalization passed. And we've the first place in the world from what I understand that allows one to grow. Anyone,,,,, not just medical card holders. I here they can grow 4 plants per house hold.

Anyone 21+ is allowed 6 plants (3 flowering) in Colorado, not just red card holders. Some cities have limited it to 12 plants (6 flowering) per household no matter how many 21+ live there and there have been some restrictions on people in apartments due to complaints of the smell.

Welcome to my grow, COgrower. I hope you have a great time here :passitleft:

Guerilla plants from The Shady Spot after few days of rain and sneaky snail attack!

O.G. Kush is doing really well so far.

Ultra O.G. has been almost eaten by the snails.

Grape Dogs have been bothered by snails and insects more or less, but they'll pull through I say.

nice update neighbour :thumb:

how are you dealing with all these things outside, besides spraying your bug repellent organic recipe ? i feel like its gonna get nasty outdoors, this is a plant every living organism wants to do stuff to :smoke2:

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

I didn't spray anything this season to be honest. I guess I wanna check how strong are these plants without any protection :) I used copper wedlocks against snails initially, but then I took them off and used for Ultra Dogs, which are priority for me!

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

 ... That makes me feel a lot better about my whiteflies. :laughtwo:

But it looks (to this outdoor neophyte) like they'll get past the snail-buffet stage and be ready for the next onslaught! :cheesygrinsmiley:

Really nice pictures. :thumb:

The Shady Spot is really survival of the fittest kind of patch :) Humidity, rain, a lot of natural vegetation around make it hard for any plant that's not fit to fight. Then snails are so destructive now cause I've had a long streak of rain. Hopefully tomorrow things stabilize a little bit, and they'll have a moment of rest. I might actually go there tomorrow and put a beer trap to do some damage control after I'm through with outplanting Ultra Dogs to The Sunny Spot. Anyway, I've seen much worse over the years, so I'm staying positive. On a more positive note my seeds from Herbie's arrived, 4 x Mexican, 4 x Colombian, and some bonuses that I won't grow. Both sativas are already in water and I'm looking forward to these landraces :)

I outplanted remaining 6 Ultra Dogs to The Sunny Spot today. Here they are with the other ones, and I can finally catch some breath :)

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

I did it twice and didn't like the results as it washes all the terpenes and makes the bud dry up too quickly for my taste, but whatever floats your boat, Bapple :)

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

Thanks Conradino!

I had never heard of bud washing before and have never done it. I dry my buds using the brown paper bag method so was wondering about the advantages if any,, cos I don't really have hanging space with sufficient privacy......

Thanks for the input :thumb:

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

So stick to it. It does make a difference in taste which you get normally by going hash or long curing, but I prefer to get the stronger side of palatte, so I know if I should improve something in my grow or not. Just cut down on nitrogen and phosphorus ferts, add more micronutrients and you'll be fine!

Anyway, 4 Colombians and 3 Mexicans cracked so far. Also O.G. Kush showed sex, yeah there are no OG males as there never were :) We'll see what she shows in new soil. It could be perfect gorilla plant on the other hand :) :tokin: Who knows how Brix should go from veg to flower? When does she really get the benefit of calcium? Tomorrow I'm starting mostly cal/mag treatment + bacteria, and I'm really looking forward to the results.

Ok :passitleft:

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

Going from veg to bloom, Brix should rise a couple points as new foliar growth diminishes.

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

We'll see how it goes with application of calcium carbonate, but I think that 8 hrs of direct sunlight a day on my windowsill gives me a ceiling. Anyway, all the plants look as healthy as it gets.

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

Hello Conradino, it's me again :bigblush::blushsmile::blushsmile:

I put my photo plants (Portela, Amherst Sour Diesel and Hollands Hope) into pots because I did not really want them to get too large. It seemed like a good idea at the time...... However now the Portela is 88cm. The Hollands Hope 80cm and the Amherst Sour Diesel 110cm!!! And they still have 3 months of veg to go. I don't want them to be any taller than 6ft at harvest.

So my question is this if I stopped feeding them for a couple of months would that stunt their growth a bit or would that just mess up their growth. I already fimmed all three and find training boring and time consuming.....

Any input would be very appreciated

Re: Still Growing- SoCal Hybrids & Mexican & Colombian Sativas Under Sun Natural Syst

So your choice seems to be either radical topping, cutting plant as many nodes down as you feel is necessary, or root pruning which is cutting around 25% of rootball off, and that will stop the growth for sure.
