Stanks Switch It Up In 2019

Update time! Opened the door to the veg tent and was surprised by the humidity in the air considering the dry nature of our weather the last few days. Opened the tent and was blown away by the growth on the girls 36 hours after their recharge dunk. Bright new green growth everywhere. All the girls look like they shot up. Hoping I didn't hit them a bit too early with this. Still have a lot of work to do down in the basement before I can get them into 5' x 5'.

Skunk #1 (Reg) - Sensi Seeds - Veg Day 38

Of the two Skunks, this one has the weaker side branching by far. We haven't taken a good look for preflowers on either of them yet. I will likely have Ms Stank put her superior eyes to the task tomorrow. Gonna give both of them another few days and trim them up and take a peek at the roots.

Skunk #2 (Reg) - Sensi Seeds - Veg Day 38

This one is definitely my favorite of the two. Hoping that it will be a she!

Hindu Kush (Fem) - Sensi Seeds - Veg Day 38

Kinda of surprised that this girl is the tallest plant of the tent at this point. She was a bit slow to react to the topping but has sprung to life with the recharge. Will be trimming her up and looking at the roots some point this week. She will be going into a 5 gallon pot when her roots tell me she's ready.

Labyrinth (S1) - In-House Genetics - Veg Day 31

Last we left this one, we had up potted and topped her at the same time. First time I have done that, mostly to test theory that its not good to top and up pot at the same time (excess stress). This girl is the only plant that has NOT received a recharge yet (mostly to keep the experiment legit) and I have to say that I of all girls I have topped, she recovered the fastest and has what seems to be the fastest growth. Its got me intrigued enough to expand that experiment on future plants and doing the topping and up-potting at the same time. She won't get her recharge until the 25th or the 26th time frame.

Super rockin, per usual! :bravo::adore:

Thanks man! We appreciate the visit and the kind words! :thanks: :passitleft:

Killing it man. Looking forward to seeing these Skunk develop.

I sent my buddy some of my Skunk 1 seeds from Seedsman. He is a few weeks away and its looking good.

Hey Urb, good to see ya brother! Hows things in your world. Do you have a new journal running, I don't think I have seen anything from you in the updates in a while.

Yeah I am really looking forward to trying a classic Skunk, especially from Sensi. Really hoping one of the two is gonna be a girl!

Yeah Sensi has some great genetics, I have been getting more curious lately of different breeders “versions” of particular strains. I have Sensi Star in my “maybe one day” pile. But I imagine their Skunk is good too.

I have not been doing grow journals on 420 mag. But rather lurking and keeping in touch with some of the folks that I met.

I have a couple african sativas started, Mulanje x Swazi, just topped them today. Reg seeds so hoping for a couple females. They are destined to be made into cobs. At least half of the harvest anyway.

This is gonna be a long one.

Very nice! I love seeing the African landrace girls!

We tried a 10 pack of Durban Poison from Cannabiogen and everyone of them cracked and after a 1/4" of tap root developing...tried popping open. None of them pushed through except one and its been growing funky for 3 weeks and I don't think its gonna make it. Grabbed a pack of Durban from Sensi and will try them at some point. Very disappointed with the Cannabiogen product. Seems like it was a dud batch as every seed did the same exact thing.

Nice praying ladys Van definitely looks like they liked what u added.

Can you link the recipe you use for your topical lotion. My girl doesn’t smoke but I think she can benefit from the lotions. Also does it matter if your using Sativa or Indica. And how do you like using it?

Yes sir, let me find the link to Magnus' recipe here in 420. We use his recipe with a few drops of a couple different essential oils to make it smell better. As far as Sativa or Indica, No I don't believe it will matter for topicals. From my understanding its simply the THC that is important. We add a small amount of CBD into our topical as well....because well we have it and I figure why the hell not.

It works great. My biggest issue that its a two person job for where 80% of my pain is located so it kind of useless until Ms Stank gets home to slather my back/neck/shoulders really good. Generally lasts a couple 2-3 hours per application.:thumb:

I topped and transplanted on Sunday, and so far so good with new growth. I can't say it's the best idea but it certainly seems like a reasonable thing to do when you need to. All mine are destined for bonsai motherhood.

I can't say its the best idea either. I can tell you that on the 1 plant I did it to, the new growth was the most vigorous of the 8 plants I have topped. Could it just be a vigorous grower....sure could. But it didn't hurt it so it warrants a bit further looking into in my eyes. You know me, I like experimenting with the ladies! :D

Hey Dynamo, thanks brother! How's things in your garden? Frosty and green I hope! :passitleft:

MY view on topping and transplanting is that as we get better at transplant there's little to no stress from transplanting. So topping wood be what the stress is and it is what it is. We want bushier plants then we top.

I don't think its going to affect the plant either way if you up-pot at the same time.

If anything its probably beneficial.

Topping will cause the plant to grow more roots right at the time when you provide more room for those new roots. So win win how I see it.

Just don't break the main tap root. That wouldn't be helpful.

Stank you got a nice set going this run.

You putting all that in your 10x10?

Onward and upward, Still fighting gnats but I have to believe I'm winning or I'd be depressed and I don't have time for that. I'm applying my second round of beneficial nematodes today and second round of fungus gnats next week. Girls are looking better and praying more. Happy with a little cooler weather it's easier for me to manage than HOT. More DDA just popped. Was it you that recommended a Sensi star night med?:hmmmm:

No sir, not running the 10'x10'. Took it down to get the basement cleaned up from the water issue and mold that followed over the summer. Probably going to have major work done down in the basement over the next couple months so going to be running them in the 5'x5' and the 4'x4'.

I am making good progress down in the basement on getting the mold cleaned up. Probably have 2-3 more days of cleaning down there before I am ready to put up the tents. Been running the dehumidifier off and on and have the RH stabilized at 55-60% compared to the 80% it was earlier this summer. Gotta pick up another box fan just to keep the air moving and drier. Hoping to have some plants in the downstairs tents within a week.

Once the work is completed down in the basement, we are going to build an insulated grow room that I can have set with an air purifier and full temp and humidity control, and it will be vented outside of the house. Gonna do this shit right. I am done trying to control the environment of this entire basement when I only need to control 100-200 square feet max.

So it may seem like we are taking a couple steps backwards (which we are), its only so we can take a bunch of steps forward. We are also looking to incorporate a possible area for tissue culture into that grow room area. Would be a breeze to add small enclosed area into that build. Might need to pick my boy @Preston9mm mind for some ideas with this whole build when we ready to proceed.

Let me know if you see anything you like Bob! Give me a holler! :thumb: :passitleft:

Yeah nice thanks.. bummer about the basement humidity. We bought out new place and the lower level is where I wanna set up the new flower room.

It's already go a BEAST humidifier that runs 24/7 drains into a floor drain. Looks like there was some previous water issues that are hopefully resolved.

We had continuous venting with fan to outside in the basement of our old home. That seemed to help a lot with humidity. Running your vent to outside should help for sure.

Have you tried Mosquito Bits? Those things really made the biggest difference in my battle with them little bastards. Really easy to do and seems to have kept my issue down to an occasional one or two popping on up on a sticky every week.

No, wasn't me that recommended the Sensi Star. Haven't tried that one yet....nor do I have beans of that one that I can think of. I know @conradino23 is a fan of that strain if I am not mistaken.

I have two beans of DDA sitting on my counter. Haven't grown that strain yet but have been looking forward to it. Been struggling to get some CBD strains going. Tried a Hiydrow and Candida from MMG but neither of those wanted to play ball. :hmmmm:

Ms Stank is trying a Purple Orange CBD from Dinafem, but its being a pain in the ass in cracking. I rescarified it last night and threw it back into the wet paper towel overnight. We need some CBD back in our medicine cabinet. The weather isn't really helping us with these latest attempts. Nightly temps been getting down in upper 30s and we aren't running any heat yet so the house temps are getting down into the lower 60s....not real conducive for germination. Dug out the heating mat to aid in this latest round. Gonna have a bit of a warm up over the next couple days so that will hopefully help.

Yeah I definitely think the venting out will go a long ways to helping. Gonna figure a way to pull in the warmer air from the upstairs. Theres a pre-existing smaller hole where heating pipe goes through the floor. Should be a way to make it a little bigger and draw the warmer dry air from the main floor during the winter instead of drawing from the 55 degree basement air. When I run the wood burning stove and blower it will heat up the air to the mid 80's in a couple hours. Would much rather have warmer dry air down there than cool damp air! We'll get this shit show back on track soon enough brother!

I know you got this.

I gotta take notes on your outdoor garden you set up.

That is in my Future next spring.

Did you fence keep out the critters?

We got a lot of critters. lol 16 pt buck - told my neighbor, he told his other neighbor and there was a lot of practice shooting all of a sudden. Could have been some Giants butt hurt steam burning off tho. lol Haven't seen a deer ever since, ffs.

Yes sir, its done a great job at keeping most things out. We had something BIG roll through one night though, whatever it was....just pushed through the temporary fence, ate all the corn and walked over the fence on the other side. Thinking big deer. Won't be an issue once I finish the fence to full height. Been on hold on that while we work on the basement issue. Very happy with it and as the dog gets bigger and expands where I let him go, he will likely help deter other critters (hopefully anyways).

Gotta get my ass out turn the compost pile. Been slacking and just adding new stuff. Gotta get that stuff going good for next years garden. Always amazing how fast that stuff breaks down ain't it! Should be lots of leaves to start adding into the mix over the next couple of weeks.
