Stanks Go Perpetual In 2018!

I have heard it has something to do with the digestive system of the rabbit with multiple stomachs. I read a couple articles about it but its been a year or so and I can't really remember the details. Essentially you can use it straight from the bums of bunnies with no risks of being too hot.
Thanks - multiple stomachs. I know tha kangas may have that going on too. Wish I had a busy enough garden to test that a bit more vigorously. But I may experiment with it a bit!
Cheers VS

I think most educated hunters do, but there are quite a few really stupid hunters, at least here in my neck of the forest.

I'm no longer a hunter. I have no problem with people hunting if they have the perspective you have. My father hunts and I usually have venison. I love a good steak, and chicken. I'm a meatavore.
Well I am a firm believer that any sub group is just a microcosm of society. Doesn't matter if you are talking professions or hobbies.....its all the same. There are dumbasses everywhere. Dumb Doctors, dumb lawyers, dumb actors, dumb everyone when you make the sample size large enough. I think there are more than enough dumb asses in this world that no group is left out! I know I have run across some dumb ass hunters that I would rather shoot over some of the animals out there.

And thus the natural balance would be restored lol. If the same rules applied to man as they did wild animals. We wouldnt have people like donald trump running one of the strongest countries in the world. You americans would have Chuck norris lol

i agree 100% with you guys. i am not a hunter right now because i dont have the space to do it all myself. If i kill something, it will be put to use or consumed in one way or another. Im only 30 this year but feel way older... Been told i have an old soul... Born in the wrong era. goal is to get a farm way up north and be more or less self sufficient for us and our animals.

Lets face it, if the city folks left the city they wouldnt last two weeks... Look at those survival tv shows where they drop people in middle of nowhere... Most cant even catch a fish to save their life.

i love wolves, makes me sick that out in BC theyre culling thousands every year by flying around in helicopters shooting from the air. Yet talk to people from quebec or maritimes and theyve got moose populations out of control. Then theres the whole coyote issue in ontario... Massive packs 30-40 strong... Breeding with lone wolves or dogs, so theyre nasty like coyotes but the size of a wolf.... But they dont go after deer, just farm animals, pets and small game. it is an interesting world we live in.

thats really neat about that place in texas. Im gonna look into that. Not for hunting lol the idea itself is rather brilliant.

Wife and i have a few horses, we breed, raise, train, and you dont even want to know the amount of our feed bill.... Everytime a vegan(no offence meant, my brother doesnt eat meat at all) tries to argue with me i tell them to take the animals and pay to feed them and care for them and see how long they can afford it.
Ya know....it took me a while to come around to the idea of that ranch in texas....I believe its in San Antonio if I remember correctly....but after a long talk with my dad, he opened my mind to the idea. Its not perfect, but it does far more good for those endangered species than hollywood or the 'progressives' have done. They only allow you to hunt the plains deer type animals, but use the funds from those to help Black Rhinos and almost 20 other species with the proceeds. I have come around to it after some serious pondering. Again, not for me.....but if it helps the big picture and the health of those endangered species, then I am all for it with the lack of anything better!

Van stanks perpetual political hijacking. New thread name lol
Hey I have always stated that I don't care what topic is discussed here as long as its not attacking any members personally. LOL...no worries. I don't care if people want to talk hunting or politics. If I don't want to read what's being typed by other members, I will go to another thread until the discussion is over. I think we tend to try to create little silos where no one ever 'feels' negatively about a subject and then we become so weak we can't even handle being around those controversial subjects. I don't ever shy away from those 'touchy' subjects. In fact I could probably say I love watching those that hate any of those touchy topics become squeamish and totally uncomfortable being around those topics.

Hard times create Strong men and women. Strong men and women make good times. Good times make weak men and women. Weak men and women make hard times. Rinse and repeat.

I'm not sure the "progressives" (as a block?) are against a ranch in Texas as much as they are against paying the countries in Africa where these endangered (by man) species live so that people can trophy hunt there. Anyway, why can't trophy hunters make donations to save endangered wildlife and put the Certificate of Thanks on their walls instead of "hunting" the animals and mounting their heads?

By the way, progressives are no more a block than hunters, ranchers, farmers, urbanites, whites, Christians, or anyone else. Dumbasses in every group like Van said. And the "strong times/strong men" argument is archaic. Unless you're a social Darwinist!

I gotta disagree with your strong times comment but like always, we are all welcome to our own opinions. Having been around the world more times than I can count and having been across more than 30 countries...I stand by that statement as being true to the things I have seen.

And ain't that the great thing.....we can disagree and nothing literally happens! The world doesn't end, my head doesn't explode because you think differently than me, and we can all co-exist and even get along!

I will agree on your block comment.

I can understand the strong times theory, it's difficult that people forged by this may regress instead of progress. Very disheartening what has become the common topic and discussion these days. Or maybe that is me getting older and become more of a recluse lol.

Perch for dinner tonight! From a ice fishing trip to southern Ontario. By far my favorite fish! :passitleft:
I haven't eaten perch since I was in my teens. Growing up in Florida, saltwater fishing was my thing and we generally ate what we caught (fish, crabs, clams, shrimp, etc) 3-4 nights a week. LOL, we couldn't afford to feed the family and foster kids if we had to buy all the food!

It was just life for us. Mom would say "We are running low on fish, can you get some more". I would literally take the cheap little 14 foot boat we bought for 50 bucks and fixed up and I would take it to school (had a friend that lived on the water about a quarter mile from the school) and I would fish my way to his house in the morning, catch a few. Then fish my way home and Bam, dinners for the next couple days.

We reserved the shrimping trips for the weekend (best shrimping is at the tide changes during the night time cycle). There were times we could come back with 50 lbs of fresh shrimp. We would dehead em and freeze em in zip lock bags filled with water. Helped prevent freezer burn (not that they ever lasted long enough to get burned). I had a couple crab traps I would hit a couple times a week and would save em up for a crab boil.

I would swim out to the sand bars and go collect clams. Occasionally we would bring back fresh gator meat as well (though you gotta be careful with those if you don't know what you are doing). Good times brother....good times. I would also go snorkling around the bridges with my Hawaiian slip and bring back a few meals worth of fish.

Needless to say, I don't generally like eating seafood much at restaurants. Its never as fresh as I grew up eating and generally I cook it better.
