They do start to produce pollen sacks in veg (at least my ATF #4 male did), but they really need to go into flower to start splooging everywhere. I didn't see any burst pollen sacks from my ATF #4 in veg though. Then I took clones off him, waited for them to root and then I ditched the male and used his clone for breeding (he was far too big at that point to use...he would have made a total mess of the house....LOL)Lush looking tent VS and Ms S! Assuming there are no monkey wrenches it looks like a reasonable production line.
I have a male plant question: Do males eventually produce pollen in veg or do they need to be flipped as well?
Its not looking terrible for you out there brother. We are going to get about a foot I am pretty sure.No more snow, I need to sit in the sun just as much as my plants, if this keeps up I'm going to sit in my tent with the plants!
So once you knew it was a male it was already too big to flip, so you cloned it and flipped the clones (when they were still small) to get pollen. Got it. Thanks! Then I took clones off him, waited for them to root and then I ditched the male and used his clone for breeding (he was far too big at that point to use...he would have made a total mess of the house....LOL)
Well it wasn't that it was too big to flip......I wanted my first grow to be bud only. I was saving the male for the 2nd grow. But my breeding tent was too small for him by the time it came around to do that.....so to make him fit in the small tent with the female, I had to clone him and keep him small. So once you knew it was a male it was already too big to flip, so you cloned it and flipped the clones (when they were still small) to get pollen. Got it. Thanks!
Holy smokes stank. Those said thank you for opening up wowQuick Blue Dream Update
I posted the pics of the Blue Dream after its first defoliation yesterday. Hurt to cut her up, but I am happy to report she is back to kicking ass! (I have a serious crush on this girl...don't get jelly Ms Stank lol) She is happy and doesn't show any signs of being mad at me for giving her a hair cut. I think the ACT helps recovery on them.
Ms Stank and I are trying to refine a training technique that will allow easier pollen harvesting. I recommend getting a small to medium sized mirror (I like something about 8"x11" or even 11"x 17") so that you can tap the branches once the sacks burst so that the pollen will fall onto the mirror.
