Stanks Go Perpetual In 2018!

Wow that's a haul! Great Job Stank.

Now that I have a 4x4 tent and can only fit 3 plants in it I wonder to myself "HOW THE HELL" did you pull 16 dried ounces off a single plant grown in a tent that size with three other plants in the tent with her? I had to make an executive decision...…...add a fourth plant or add a standing oscillating fan in one corner for air flow. I went with the fan because with 4 plants was just way too crowded. And that was four plants the size I grow them. I can't imagine four plants the size YOU grow them in there at once.

I am glad that someone has finally found some appreciation for that accomplishment Beez! That Northern Lights was a tank! There wasn't a free square inch in that tent with those 4 plants!

I have gotten very good at maximizing the space in the smaller tents, but I gotta say I LOVE the new tent and all the extra space to move around.

Maybe you missed the upgrade Van made to a 10X10....?

I grow in a 4x4 and once got 10 zips from my COGS aka Coked Out Girl Scout. She was a vigorous grower and took up 1/2 the tent.

I want to grow a 1 pounder some day!

:passitleft:
He's talking about the old Northern Lights that yielded a pound back when I was in the 4x4. I had three other plants in there at the same time with her....even though she was almost big enough to take up that whole tent by herself.

Thats pretty impressive to get 10 zips from a cookie strain....they aren't renowned to be big yielders. That was a frosty girl too wasn't it? Didn't you win a nug of the month with that plant?

Oh, gotcha, That is very impressive! Yes, cogs was frosty and I won NOTM with her. Thanks! I'll have tons of space to grow when my new home is built, so close to getting the permit, 6+ months in the making.......so far.

We are chopping down the African Meltdown today.

We got all the Tangie Ghost Train harvested, budwashed, and hanging last night. After the Meltdown, it will either be the DTF or the Amherst....probably the DTF. We need to do another full round of leaf plucking on the Amherst again.

Tomorrow will be soil build day. Gonna mix up another full batch of fresh Stank Soil and gonna mix up a full batch of 2nd run Stank Soil as well. I am going to do some experimenting on amendment ratios for 2nd run, so I will likely break that full batch up into 3 smaller batches with different ratios starting with light amendments, one with medium amendments and one with heavier amounts of amendments.

My thought process for this is I don't know what is really left in the soil after the 1st run. I know its lacking stuff....but how much and what is the question. I am steering clear of doing a soil test after 1st run because in my mind, each strain is going to put a different stress on the soil as it relates to demands. I have to imagine what is left in the soil will be different based on what was grown. I figure a broader range to sample will give me a better indication of what I will need.

Eventually, when I have a handful of strains that I will keep long term, I will get around to custom soil blends for those strains based off what I observe from several runs. I think the base Stank Soil is a great starting point for most any strain at this point....but like everything else, I always want to improve my soil options.

Yer soil expertise is enlightening my friend

So say plant A has an X issues, deficiency, can't an adjustable TEA solve said issue

My extent of soil is FFOF and some Happy Frog I did a EWC mix with for seedlings

Either way yer soil is fantastic, yer plants prove that

Oh crap...lol

Reason I came here was to share yer redheaded step daughter with yer crew

Star Pupil x ATF Purple pheno

Cut down yesterday, so still hanging, got a ruff wet trim today

Teas will certainly help.....and I could observe any deficiencies I might see and top dress accordingly.....but I would rather have a couple different mixes. If I can grow without having to mix up teas to fix things....and instead use them to keep the soil energy and soil web thriving, I would be much happier. My goal hasn't changed from when I set out on this soil journey......a water only soil for the entire grow.

And the red headed step daughter looks great! That is a cross I am definitely interested in exploring!

Well.....I have been trying to email myself pics of the harvest but for some reason Google is being an ass.

We changed the plan on the harvest....kind of out of necessity. The density of that main cola is just too much. She came down on day 80. Total yield wet was 475 grams. I will take that all day long in a 4 gallon pot from a plant with zero training.

For those of you on IG, you can see a couple pics there. Hopefully the email will start working properly by tomorrow morning.

Sometimes Gmail throws a fit if you try to email too many attachments, or too large of attachments. If that's the case, FireFox just introduced a new service to send files as large as 2.5 Gb back and forth encrypted.

Nice harvest there. I think I'm going to try to do this next cycle of ATF in larger pots to see if I can break 2 oz. per plant with it lol

Hey soil question for you man... Do you think 1 cup of kelp meal and 1 cup of sea bird guano over 2 cu. ft. of soil is too much? I amended some Happy Frog with that amount, and my clones are looking kinda burnt in it, but I am thinking that might also because I had to give them a neem spray/drench. It was the Happy Frog from last cycle so I figured the kelp meal would be a good re-charge, and the seabird guano would add more calcium--this cut really likes calcium.

DTF #4 Harvest (Day 80)

The maiden grow on this strain has come to an end. We chopped her last night. We were going to do the African Meltdown but as we got to looking at this one, we saw a bit of bud rot on the main cola despite running the dehumidifier and several fans. The RH in the flower tent was staying low enough that I can't blame that. Its just the density and size of that freaking cola that caused it.

I won't say how much of the main cola had it but lets say Stank was bit depressed over it last night. I KNEW it was a risk and I have been watching it closely as I could....but shit happens to us all. Like my old man says....can't win em all, just gotta win more than you lose!

Still we are incredibly impressed with how this girl grew. I am putting together a summary of the DTF grow that I will post over on the DTF thread with lessons learned on this strain. There were a few things that were very impressive about how this pheno grew. One was the compact size. She stayed short and very manageable for a sativa. The density of the nugs. When I say that main cola was dense...it doesn't paint a clear picture. Everything I grow denses up greatly under the Fluence Spydrx Plus.....but this plant took it to a whole different level....almost to the point I wonder if its going to make it hard to smoke.

Next was the health of the plant. She never ate herself....even when we chopped her at 80 days. All her leaves were still shiny and healthy green. Its probably the best looking plant on chop day we have run. I wish I knew why she stayed that way and didn't eat her leaves like most strains do in my soil.

Last thing I really loved about her was her structure relative to bud to leaf ratio. She is an all bud plant. There was very little trimming that needed to be done. On top of that....look at her lower branches. There is very little bare branch on her. Almost all her branch surface area was covered in buds. Assuming the smoke stays on par with the tester I smoked.....we definitely have a winner here. Glad I have a clone of her going!

Her overall harvest counting the main cola was 475 grams wet which will equate to about 4 zips dried when all said and done. Very good numbers....especially considering the shorter veg time and smaller pot in conjunction with no training.

Oh and the weight on the main was about 130 grams wet by itself.....but probably half of that was no good due to the bud rot. That will be saved for topicals.....nothing goes to waste.

Holly HELL that's a big cola

I'm not showing the GF or she may drive to see you and snag that from ya

Yer gunna love it, I know ya did a tester

nice job my friend

:drool::drool::drool:
Sorry to hear about to rot but man those nugs are nice.
Thanks Chief! I knew it was a risk with how thick and dense it was. I should have chopped her earlier because I knew this would happen if I pushed my luck but I wanted to try and let it go until it was done so I know what the smoke really has to offer. I have a clone of her going that I took in flower so it will be a monster crop and I will train it out low and wider so it has multiple colas instead of just the main. Might just be better to top everything I grow.
