Stanks Go Perpetual In 2018!

Soil Update

Yeah its about that time again. Gotta mix up another batch of Stank Soil. Took a few pics as I prepped the amendments so I know if I need anything at the grow store today when I swing by. Have about 12 amendments that I need to restock so glad I checked the ingredients. I had everything I needed for this batch....but I would have been out of several things the next time. That means I get about 5-7 batches of soil out of most of the boxed amendments....which translates into 300-420 gallons of soil for most of them. This will likely be the next to last batch of new soil I mix up as I finish working on the 2nd and subsequent run amendment amounts.

All in all.....there are about 46 cups of amendments not including EWC. Those get mixed with my base which is 2 bags of Roots Organic Soil, 30 lbs of EWC, a bag of Alaskan Humus, 2.5 gallons of Bio Char, and about a 3rd of a bale of Promix. When everything is mixed up.....a batch will produce about 60 gallons of soil. I mix it up on a big tarp in the basement and then into plastic trash cans it goes to cook for 30-45 days (longer the better). From there....its literally water only.

I'd take 341 any day.

I'd more than chuffed with that.

By the way....for anyone wondering....that wasn't a dig at Chris.....just poking fun at him. All in jest.

I realize after I posted it....anyone not familiar with our exchanges might have thought that was a low blow.

I seen those floors...

Beautiful harvest on both ladies mr.Stank, but your photography skills were the winner this evening...

Wow, that is one superb cola!

That size perspective is shocking! W00t! :bravo:

Thanks Graytail....I have been struggling with capturing a pic with a good size reference all late flower with her. That pic was finally the one I felt actually shows her girth. And you can squeeze the shit out of it and it's solid as a rock. I knew I was pressing my luck trying to take her to full harvest with that cola, but it was one I felt worth the risk.
That's a chunky girl there. I see in the 8th pic from the top there is a couple nanners. Were just last ditch effort to reproduce or was it a problem?

Thank Neiko! Yeah she started throwing nanners late... along with everything else in the garden. Not sure what specifically caused it cause there were a LOT of possibilities LOL. Errors with light timers, cold basement temps during the earlier part of flower when we first moved, sporadic lighting during the move, the cold ride down in the move, lots of things were off. Things were still fucked up earlier this week after getting the tent rearranged and the light mover going. I swapped things around and had a light running 24hours. Then throw in the Durbans landrace nature to sometimes throw nanners indoors.....who knows what caused it. Even the Tangie Ghost Train nannered and the hindu as well....and they never nannered before. So I'm not judging any of the plants that threw any on this grow.

Harvested the African Meltdown tonight. Wet weight for her is an impressive 779 grams wet which should give us between 5.5 and 6.5 zips for her in a 5 gallon pot. Very happy with that. Any time I can get 30 grams+ per gallon of soil, I am happy.

She certainly wasn't as easy to trim up as the DTF. I don't know how many of you out there have ever tried plucking the leaves off, but man I think that its a much easier way to get ride of leaves than cutting them off (especially for those of us with bad close up vision). You have to gently hold the bud as you pluck, but thats about the only downfall I have seen. Its much faster for me. Will revisit her in 48-72 hours for her 'dry trim' and I will take some pics.

I plucked a ridiculously fluffy sativa once and it was a breeze. I even reminded myself of our old ones chatting away as one quietly and efficiently plucked the chicken she just killed. All casual like. It gets to be a rhythm just like snipping but easier - as you say, nowhere near as precise. :) Jus' pluck pluck pluck. :slide:

Doesn't surprise me that you figured it out Graytail! Just so much easier. I have to do the final trim on the Tangie Ghost Train today.....i may see if I can pluck and of the semi dried remaining small and medium sugar leaves still remaining.

Today we will be chopping the Amherst Sour Diesel down.....at least the main colas. The lowers could probably use another week. Busy Busy Busy! Hope all of you are having a wonderful week!

Long day yesterday.

We completed the final dry trim on the Tangie Ghost Train yesterday, and got 80% of the Amherst chopped and plucked. We left all the lower growth and threw it back in the flower tent for another week or so. The initial harvest on the Amherst's main colas was a bit under 1200 grams wet. Not sure how much weight we still have to harvest but my initial thought is we will come up short of the pound on the ASD by about an ounce or two. I will guess final yield will be in the 13-14 zip range.

Have to do the final trim on the DTF today. That shouldn't take long....she was a very easy plant to trim.....while that Amherst Sour Diesel was not. She was very leafy....especially down low. The harvests are coming to a close. We only have one more plant that is close to being done and she still has another week or two at least. We recently flipped a Northern Lights clone and a BCP clone. They are both starting to show some nice little budlets. I hope to take a few pictures of them today while I am down there watering. Also need to get some updates of the two Stankberry girls (really starting to stack nicely) and the ATF girl.

Lemme see that ATF! Jeez can't talk what my favorite is or anything lol

I have room to pop a bean or two on my next go round, still trying to decide what to try next.

Sounds like you've got a ton of work ahead!

Hey Fert....that ATF is a hot mess right now brother LOL. She has branches falling all over the place right now. I gotta get some bamboo into the pot and start supporting some of the branches. The buds are starting to give the branches a little bit of weight on them now so its gonna be fun trying to keep any sort of order to her.

The Stankberry plants seem to be holding themselves up a bit better than the ATF is though..but the ATF seems frostier.

Got the final trim on the DTF done and she is bagged up and going slow and low in fridge along with the Hindu and the Tangie Ghost Train. Funny story....found a paper bag in the fridge with some Hawaiian in it. Guess I forgot it back when I harvested her LOL. It was dry as hell....so threw a 62% humidity pack in there to see what it might do. Always nice to find unexpected weed.

Speaking of that Hawaiian....the reveg on that girl is going great. She looks amazing at this point and I considering flowering her out again in the same pot and just use top dressings to try and get her through harvest. What ever I do.....i need to make that decision soon because I don't want it to get too big. There are some great shoots I could cut off as well and run as a new clone.

Heh did you grow some of your F2s? Yeah I had a heck of a time supporting her. The buds will outweigh her limbs it seems. I was wondering if she'd hold herself together any better untrained, did you do this one with no training? I forget... GO figure haha

Yeah this one was one of our F2s. I grew her with no training until she hit the tent ceiling. So I bent her top over a little bit and tied it down. Thats all the training that was done. I meant to get pics today but just didn't have time. I will get pics either tomorrow or Sunday. She is definitely struggling to hold herself up. I need longer bamboo poles....to support the uppers. She's going to be a pain in the ass, thats for sure.
