Stanks Go Perpetual In 2018!

Today we have more oil making on the agenda. The heat is brutal today in conjunction with the humidity so I m thinking its going to be an indoor day until I have shade to sit outside. Hate that I had to turn on the ACs but oh well. Its almost July so I think we did pretty good.

As I told y'all before, all the moldy buds are going into the topical oil. Well we found a bit of Blue Dream that had some mold on it so I decarbed that today and I am getting ready to make the oil. (normally Ms Stank does it but I am going to try my hand at it today).

We have the totals for the buds that are going to be getting used. We are using about 25 grams of decarbed Jack Herer buds, 28 grams of decarbed Harlequin buds, and another 24 grams of Blue Dream buds of which 14 grams were decarbed and the other 10 grams are going in for the THCa.

The recipe is from @Magnus8 and we had great results the first time around.

35% Pumpkin Seed Oil (5.6 ounces for a two cup batch or 8.4 ounces for a three cup batch)
25% Rice Bran Oil (4.0 ounces for two cup batch or 6.0 ounces for a three cup batch)
10% Fractionated Coconut Oil (1.6 Ounces for two cup batch or 2.4 ounces for a three cup batch)
10% Hazelnut Oil (1.6 Ounces for two cup batch or 2.4 ounces for a three cup batch)
10% Sweet Almond Oil (1.6 Ounces for two cup batch or 2.4 ounces for a three cup batch)
10% Grapeseed Oil (1.6 Ounces for two cup batch or 2.4 ounces for a three cup batch)

15 drops of Peppermint essential oil for 2 cups, or 22 drops for 3 cups
15 drops of Tea Tree Oil for 2 cups, or 22 drops for 3 cups

Please note you can use whatever essential oils you might like in whatever quantity you like to get a smell you desire. This happens to be where we settled and will likely stay at that rate of essential oils

From here, its into the Magic Butter Machine for 8 hours at 160 degrees. You can probably go for less....but this is what we do. Again a big shout out to Magnus for him sharing the results of his experimentation with topicals. Per the thread that Ms Stank got it from, the oils he uses are the fastest absorbing oils and provide the fastest relief he found with topicals.

I can tell you from our first batch where we used 30 grams of bud total (25 grams decarbed and 5 grams fresh) that the relief was extremely fast on my lower back. By the time I would get dressed after Ms Stank applied the oil, I had relief. Less than 2 minutes with relief which is pretty freaking good in my mind. We didn't use any CBD strains last time so we are kind of interested in seeing what kind of relief we get with a good amount of CBD into the mix.

First batch we made we averaged 15 grams of bud per cup of oil. This batch it will be just over 25 grams of bud per cup of oil so about 67% more potent this batch. Anyways.....Cheers!

Thanks for posting that again, I had it saved to a blog before.

I figure someone was probably going to ask for it so I figured it was wise to repost it and write down what page I have it on. That way I can link it for when the next person asks.

Seriously I can't compliment this recipe enough.

ONE WARNING THOUGH.....the oil is dark when its done (think the pumpkin seed oil is the reason) and it can stain white clothes. So make sure you give it 5-10 minutes to absorb and then maybe wipe down any residue before putting on any good clothes.

It does have a bit of a cannabis smell to it so be warned, you probably don't want to apply it and go to work.

What's your decarb method? We bought a $50 toaster oven to put on the deck so the house doesn't smell like weed...
I use a Nova decarboxilator, Built specifically for stealthy decarbing. Not cheap but it works (150$). Just takes a bit of time as you generally only do about half an ounce at a time. I generally run an extension cord outside and just let it decarb outside so that any odors are pretty much gone. Helps keep happy landlords.

I do my trim on the grill over indirect heat. If I run my left two far burners.....its about 250 degrees near the top of the grill in middle and about 180 at the grate level. I usually run it in there for about an hour and a half. I basically make big aluminum foil boats and knock out all my trim in a day.

I don't use any essential oils and I find that after 10 minutes or so you can't smell it on me, unless you stick your nose in my neck! I use it at work all the time.
I just wanted to throw that warning out there for anyone not in legal states. If I was in an illegal state, I wouldn't put the lotion on and go for a drive. I just tend to like to avoid any potential issues that might arise. If I am leaving the house, I put it on 20-30 minutes before I need to leaves. I smell it on me for a while. But I also have Ms Stank apply it fairly heavily.

I know a while back I had made a comment that I collected a lot of my seeds via my grinder and someone asked me what kind of grinder it was. I completely forgot to share that info but @Guy Cavallero asked me in his journal and it reminded me that I needed to post the information here. I use The Original Black Widow. Think I bought it off the zon.

The grinder I use is a 4 piece grinder with a kief catch down low, herb catch in the middle and the two top pieces are where the grinding takes place. The wholes are the key and if you grind slowly, the seeds will fall right through before any of your bud gets ground up. It isn't uncommon when I smoke some of my seeded blueberry buds (Stankberry seeds) that I find 8-15 seeds per bud and they fall straight through the grinder.

When I am harvesting seeds....I don't pick them out anymore. I just let the buds dry normally and when its time to harvest the seeds, I grind a jar of the buds up at a time. Easy Peasy. Just remember.....grind slowly.

One last trick I like to use is I grind over a big saucer that is angled so the seeds all collect down at the bottom while any buds that get ground up kind of collect near the top. Let gravity separate them for ya!

We used to pick out all our seeds but now a jar gets done in about 45 minutes and this is what the results usually look like......We do lose a few seeds that do get crushed but I put those numbers at less than 5% of the total seeds so for the time savings, its a no brainer to us.

Stankberry seeds!! Makes my mouth water after watching the stankberry in POM. Lots of nice plants there but that one got my vote this month!

I would have thought it to be the opposite. My cobs have a much more sweeter smell than the buds.
Its a sweet smell but different. They lose their initial terpene profile when u cob. I have 5 strains cobbed so far and they all smell similar.

Hi all,

Just thought I'd check in and say HIGH. I am very, very pleased that my recipe for a rock solid pain relieving topical works out well for you. It pleases me to no end that it is relieving more than my own pain. You will find it does wonders on both toothaches and feet afflicted by diabetic neuropathy however, it doesn't bring back total sensation to the nerves but only about 60% returns. If any of you discover another use for this particular oil please let me know. Wow. I'm just thrilled that someone else has discovered the pain relieving use of my oil recipe.

Glad to have discovered this thread. Looks like a lively discussion.

Hey Magnus, thanks for swinging by bud. We made a batch a few months ago and loved it. Just about out.....so made a new batch today. As a matter of fact, the MBM2 just dinged so time to strain and add the essentials to it.

Then clean it and make some edible coconut oil for our capsules. Tested em last night and I want a bit more potency, so I am running the oil through again with an additional ounce of bud. That should get me where I want it to be.

Smoked some Black Cherry Punch a bit earlier. Really nice tasting smoke. It's a very chill indica dominant strain but not at all over powering to me. A really nice 'after dinner' toke (though technically I hit mine right before dinner). Didn't really give me much increased hunger but I am gonna hold off in judging it until I smoke it again and NOT eat dinner 15 minutes later.my body is very relaxed and it wiped away major body fatigue and pains.

I meant to grab an update off the white widow tonight but lights just went out. Guess I will get a few pics of the Northern Lights clones. Be back in a bit.....cheers!!
