Staker's 2017: SSSDH, Killer Purps, Dolato, Candyland & Breeder's Test Grows

All of your girls are looking awesome there CS! That Indica pheno of the SSH is stunning. I can see why you like her looks more so than the sativa leaner! Your Slurry is looking frosty and I am glad you are getting excited about your ECSD. If it is anything like what I would get in the past it should end up having a fragrance that rivals the skunks you were talking about! When I used to get Sour Diesel it was only referred to as Sour Diesel. I believe it was ECSD though. Everything I have gotten since that was called SD just did not have the same smell, bag appeal, taste, high nor did it have the same lung expanding smoke! What we got would stink out the neighbors neighbor with even small amounts even unsmoked!

i always love looking at your plants very nice there all coming along very nice you do make them pretty and don't worry about the no smell ssh it could be the one,but the indica pheno is prettier, your d looks a lot better this run your getting that one dialed nice and frosty and the slurry is a showpiece for sure hope it lives up to its hype, and yes i love the skunk lol when my wife and i are driving the road and theres a dead skunk in the road i always tell the wife i want to smoke some of that shit lol!

Yeah, I think the mix is doing better on the N, and Ca, and Mg, but worse on P and K. The new mix that I've got in waiting is higher in EWC, Ca, Mg, Minerals, coco and bacteria. The thing with the D is that she's so old that when you grow her, the branch about 4" from the leading tip is like wood. And just in the same way, any mistake (Temp/nutes/RH being off just a bit) is also set in stone, she doesn't really let you get away with anything.

And then there's the variegation. The more off you are, the most stress she's under and the more it expresses. I think it's a mutated TMV retrovirus, as it effects the germ line, and shows up in progeny. Old heirlooms seem to either have it or not, some have it in them to begin with. I'm not presenting these idea as facts, just speculation based on experience and working knowledge. ;):nomo:

It's a rare plant that makes me prefer the indica version. Maybe I'm coming around to a better indica experience :)
I do want to try their Mkaze too.

I see 30 listings for Sour Diesel in Phylos, and they are all listed as 'fairly common' genetic representations. I know they are all NOT sour diesel. There's two in there that are listed as ECSD. One of those is spot on, listing it as Skunk, OGKush, Berry, CBD and landrace, with uncommon/rare genetic occurance. The DNL, if it was indeed that - likely passed on a the landrace traits. Likely a hawaii adapted S. American landrace or maybe even Asian. The landrace sativa is what gives her her sparkle, stretch, height, and bud formation. Traits that are often recessive in crosses made with it, but all dominate in this cross. It is one of the stenchiest stenches ;) .. very much like the old skunks in amount of loudness. A nasty rudeness of scent, a complete nose assualt... nothing like it.

Already seeing SD's characteristic bulbous calyxes. SSH indica's trichomes keeping pace with Slurricane....both insane for 30 days. Appreciation to TheBlaze for the Chem 91 genetics link but something's not quite right.....CSI has never offered a pure 91.....unless Nspecta initiated this test himself using a cut off his mother. Personal experience agrees w/ the SFV & OG closeness....especially the SFV. Tremendous plants CS. Top notch gardening. :Namaste:

What is the DNL? The smell was always top notch. There is nothing like getting round house kicked in the olfactory glands by some cannabis!

DNL is a (Hawaiian x RFK Skunk) Mom to a NL father. There are some pretty involved people that think it's the 91xDNL, but I don't see that. I just think that the DNL or whatever it was, aligned so that it really expressed strongly. The NL is apparent in the leafs. The Hawaiian in the structure and bud formation, and they all contribute to the special scent seemingly. I was just shaking off some foliar spray just a minute ago, and that hot-garbage smell came up with a sinister spice smell, slightly astringent. Wonder how the soil girl will smell in comparison.

Thanks brother, they aren't too shabby. I'm surprised by the SSH indica pheno, she's the star to me, and she was so dull looking. Now she's halfway through flower, and still looking uniformly healthy while throwing some big buds. Of course I can see and smell her here... and she's been wafting sexy perfume my way since after week two.

If that's the case, I would guess Nspecta threw his cut up to be verified. I looked into it, its about $300 for the genetic mapping. For the sexing test, it's a ton cheaper, and they use a DNA smear on a card, you get four plants per card. For the Genetic Mapping, they want 1g of stems, or .5g if completely dry. Mail only, no plant tissue or THC, so it's legal according to them. I was thinking it would be cool to try it, but dunno about no 300 cool. ;)

Peeking in brother. Plants coming along in that fantastic carestaker fashion.
I heading over w/ B.L. and ripping on that nug.
Duusteeeeee!

I'm ripping that thing right now. Such a great high. Messes with your periphial vision a bit, but you could smoke this all day no problem. Of course after smoking her everyday for months now, my tolerance is a bit higher than it was before, but I can live with that. Backatcha brother :passitleft:

You definitely have a better grasp of its history than I do. I always see breeders list it as mass super skunk x chem dawg now a days though as I said sometimes the NYCD comes into play.

Just remembered, ChemxMSS - that was the Underdog, or Underdog Diesel. Was just the simple cross with the MSS. It was really quite good as I said. The UD name was later used in NY for a related, but different strain as they didn't recognize it. To add more confusion, it was used later yet again, with Loompa on a ecSD(ecSDxOGK) strain.

We used to get buds from NY and MA, so it was easy to tell what was what. Years later we would get nugs called NYCD from our guy, and would be happy to have some UD lol. I thought I liked that just a touch better than Diesel, but it's been 8-10 years since I've seen it. Anyway, I figure I'd come back and post in case anyone was interested, that's the best I can remember.

I figured the DNL had Northern Lights in it but was not sure what else was in it. I have always heard about Hawaiian strains being uplifting, so I could see the ECSD getting that from that side of things. Thanks for shedding some more light on it.

Yeah I am not sure I would want to send stems to them and give them $300 to map the DNA.

Thanks for re-visiting that quote. I spent a lot of my smoking years consuming brick weed. Between it being cheap while not having a lot of money and it being readily available, it was most of what I had seen. My first foray into good weed was Christmas bud. It was the first seedless green bud I had seen. At some point Beesters came around and with that increased price it was only gotten as a treat. I have only smoked northern lights twice and both times it was only small amounts. Side story the second time some guys from New york had it with them and they were shocked to find out that our brick weed was at least as good as their mids. After that I got some nice bud from out of state here and there but most of the good weed I had was locally grown and typically just outdoor. Up until around the time I first got to try the ECSD which was locally grown but inside.

It is crazy how varied the stories of strains lineages can be. I like that now a days a lot more documentation goes into the making of most strains and you can at least have some idea what the building blocks are.

SSH F2 Day 36 of 12s.

This girl has been the stinkiest in the tent. I think I found one the D's kinks, so she's smelling more D to me this run, but I still don't have her good enough to beat this SSH. She's really a stinker. She was dull in Veg, but grew real well, with near perfect structure. She's been an easy feed, I don't get why they are supposed to be difficult, they're don't seem to be very nutrient intolerant. I suppose even my haze leaner likes to eat, but hell... look at her roots.

SSH Haze leaner roots....

SSH Indica leaner, Day 36 flower

I was able to get a few without flash, to show how she really looks. I think the flash shows the foliage better and no-flash shows the flowers better. Tissue health tells me almost all I need to know. With these kinda ladies, the curtains always match the drapes lol. She might yield too. I'd say at least 3 weeks still yet. I'm feeding a little more this run, but still less then 25% strength. I've touched them up a few times, maybe 4 or 5, so about 1 per week, low ec.

Keeping the organics the same, but still trying new stuff. Today was tea, microbes and sugar. Will start pumping sugar now. I've not fed them anything but trace amounts to keep the soil cooking, so it should help as I ween them off the bottle, such as it was. I'm looking for no discernable penalty on taste and aroma, fingers crossed. Slurry got her last feed today, she's getting close. Pics will be tomorrow. Peace and pots yodels.

Those are some beautiful nugs bud! :high-five:
Gorgeous plant carestaker. Do you foliar spray your plants in veg or flower?
she's a stunner for sure cs really beautiful man i can smell her from here!
Real reel nice brother. Looks like some head cany fo-sho.
Happy daze.

Thanks my brothers! For this run, in fear of fungals of any type, I sprayed foliar until about wk 3 flower, or 21 days. Ideally I'll get at least one spray in after the stretch has stopped, and once every 5-7 days of flower before that.

Smell is changing, getting deeper. ;) The other girls are also catching up.

ECSD Day 28 of 12s. This is my little 2-footer test run in coco. She doesn't really get going till day 50, then she turns it on and swells. From what I'm seeing this cut has no variegation, and is very healthy and vigorous. She's a bit N demanding, and slighty finicky, but I expect to have her dialed in pretty quickly. My coco skills are going to have to improve lol. She's in direct fan path, so wondering about the tacos...but hell, she doesn't look to bad for not knowing hydro and or using coco nutes. :) Looks like she needs more N, I already hit her with some Mg. I don't usually use Azos but did with my soil ECSD and ChemD, hoping it will help them fix N more easily. Astringent smells are starting to really build.

Slurricane, Day 36 of 12s. She's got some strong smells, starting to turn from Skunky to punch type, and then back to berries. Color is starting to come on. Should be about 3 weeks left, if I pull at 56, which would make her a rare 8 weeker in my garden. Can't believe how fast she is. Last feed was yesterday. Will flush with sugar and water, enzymes and microbes.

Will get the Chem-D out tonight, she's smelling like pepper and pine. :yummy:
