Yep, some of the best buds yet...thanks for the +reps, but the honor is all mine, I feel like an ant among giants here. :adore: :adore: The next go round, hopefully will be more like 420fied and Mr. K's sog. Got to keep them small this time. Maybe I'll avoid repeating the tumbles...they were just too big and top heavy for the 2L at the end, especially when they really dried out those last few days.

Thanks for hanging out with me, truly the pleasure has been mine.

The taste...ya, it's weird, and that it's soo different from the smell is really strange too, but good. Yep, I feel like a regular grower now. Thanks for the kind words and encouragement thru it all.

They are some of the biggest colas to date...but I wonder if I could get bigger with HPS instead of the 400w MH I'm currently using. maybe I'll switch this grow...I've been giving it some thought.

Got 8 new babies to experiment with...we see what happens.

Hi JZ,

Did you read what I wrote about the smell and taste? It's really weird. It's just now really dry, snapped a couple sticks on the colas earlier, I think it's ready to jar. I've only sampled the little popcorn buds so far, maybe the colas will taste different.

Thanks for the reps...much appreciated. I'll be using a few of those new beans in a few weeks...I'm going to try to get 2 more harvest before next summer.

def switch to 600w hps will make improved dif. I currently running 2400w hps and it giving excellent results.

the hps is 400w ...I don't want to go any bigger, my room is only 4x5 with no climate control, just ambient house temps/hum. 600w would create too much heat.

Sorry to include this in your journal, as most would deem it heresy....I think the MH makes a better bud, increases terpine production, flavors, and colors. Read some of DJ Short babblings.... The buds are not as large as under HPS. Everyone likes HPS since it is "red" which equals fall, and has more lumens and makes bigger buds. It is not a natural spectrum for MMJ. I am interested in the CMH (ceramic metal halide) lamps which include a better spectrum for growing. The best compromise is a blend of MH and HPS, it's what I use, a 400 of each (but I know you don't have the room for that). You should see if your friend has some Wonder Woman grown under HPS that you could trade for to see the differences.

Thanks for moving that PM post into my journal...not sure how you do that, or I might move the entire conversation... but like I said in my response, I just think all opinions are valid as long as you have personal experience with what you're talking about. When someone cries "heresy" it's usually out of ignorance.

Hi Folks,

I have an update, I know it's late but I've spent the last couple days trying to catch up on my subs...

Anyway, here's what's happening now...I've clones 8 babies from my Wonder Woman Bonsai, and they were put into the flower room 12-23, they aren't doing much yet but here's a shot of them...cut 12-2, vegged for 21 days, just to make sure they had established enough roots.

as you can see, some of them rooted and took off quickly, a couple of them are getting a slow start, but I can tell they are actively growing...If all goes well, in about 10 wks I should have another harvest

From top center (clockwise), you can barely see a few brown spots on the first leaf, then they start to turn yellow w/brown spots and progresses to all yellow. The leaf stems and some of the leaf veins are purple...I've read up on nutes/pH issues but if I remember right the purple stems thing can point to a number of different deficiencies...I'm trying not to over think it, I know it's easy to give them too much love. I don't want to make that mistake. Maybe these older leaves are just that...old leaves.

All you experienced growers here...got any comments/suggestions?

I'm going to rename this thread instead of starting a new one...I'm really not doing anything "new" just more of the same...

Except...I put 2 beans on the cable box about 48 hrs ago. One each of Pineapple Express and OG Kush x Ultimate...Thanks again JZ :) If they sprout I'll be putting them into the veg room and try to determine sex as soon as possible.

Looking forward to the experiment. Right now I'm running mix lights (400w MH+ 600w HPS) total 1000w in 4x4 and gotten good results. To have large dense cola would require strong light penetration, can achieve this by up the wattage and/or have the lights closer (safe distant without bleaching out the tops or burn them).

I think after they stretch a bit, maybe 1/2 way thru there cycle, I'll switch to hps. The only thing that concerns me is the heat. I can leave the mh @ 3" above the tops and no burn...I don't know if hps will be the same. And @ 3" the penetration is pretty good, but the spectrum is lacking. Unfortunately I don't have room for both which would be ideal.

I'm new to growing seeds too...so, here's the question...How do you keep them from getting too tall before they start growing leaves? As you can see the OG is really tall already, I think this may become a problem. I don't think the White Widow seeds I planted grew like this.

The Bonsais won't get too big while they're being kept in small containers. You can still prune & trim fan leaves which will also slow the growth.

I'm finding it takes a LONG time to get the Bonsais to really grow out with regular pruning.

Move the light close to the OG as possible...without burning her...that will slow down her stretching. Ad soil to the cup...that will make her grow more roots and slow her down too. :high-five:
 
Like OMM said, real close to light to slow seedlings growth. The moms will benefit from regular pruning, even if you just pitch the cuttings. You will learn to encourage a growth pattern that favors multiple tops for later clones. Think apple tree pruning, they encourage a nice round shape w/ open center for easier picking, lets light penetrate the canopy as well.
 
What was the real veg time? When did you see new growth on the clones (means roots finally took)? Around 10-14 days? Then one week of veg.... Or how tall were they when they went to 12/12....
