Sponsored Grow: Krip Keepers Frost Fest Featuring Mars SP-250 In Mars 4' x 4' Tent

You need to hang in there, too!

If it's frost you're after, all of these strains will end up on your list which wouldn't surprise me since they all ended up on mine!

Actually, just about any IHG strain is going to give you some good trichome development. ;)

Oh Hell Yeah!!!

I'm definitely after frost ... and plan to create a thread called #ClubFrostRails which will hopefully happen in my next grow!

I didn't even know "Frost Rails" were possible until I saw a photo from a member here; ... that's when I went out and read articles on "Trichome Farming" ... quality of the trichomes ... and not necessarily quantity of buds ...

That's when I really began to understand how everything has to come together to get trichomes ... strain choice ... lights ... environmental control ... nutrients ... feeding schedules ... amendments ...

And then it clicked ... 420 magazine has sponsors in all those areas ... and if I use products like Seedsman ... Mars Hydro ... ProMix ... BRIX Kit ... Vulx ... Terpinator ... and I pay attention to seasoned growers like you ... then I learn the art of growing a healthy plant.

My days of thinking ... "I can drop a random seed from a bag into a planter and get a monster plant" ..., well, those days are long gone ... and I am grateful to the 420 community for helping me grow our medicine!!!

I like your list.....but be careful about adding stuff to High Brix soil.....nothing is more thoroughly researched.

Noted ... and thank-you for the heads-up ...

I plan to continue to hone my gardening skills and then use your kit in about 6 months. I'm going through a bit of a rough patch right now ... end of my first grows and all ... but I'm hanging in there and I keep trying to make the best of my mistakes and improve; And when I'm ready ... I will reach out to the High Brix folks here and ask them to tag along and help me stay on track.

Enjoy the rest of your week amigo ...

DAY #26 OF 12/12 - QUICK UPDATE

Well, I tried to rotate the Vulxed Dolato to even out the space a little and BOTH Dolatos kind of tipped over from being so top-heavy. The containers didn't tip, but the entire plants were leaning on an angle in the containers. No major problems, though, some colas got pretty roughed up in the process and the leaves are looking a little messy. I now have the stalks tied off to the sides of the containers to help keep them stabilized.

Other than that, the frost is developing and the colas are all fattening up nicely.

Here's some pics from just a few minutes ago:

BTW, one thing I've found more difficult with the Mars tent is that the side doors, which are only "half doors" don't really zip down low enough which makes it more difficult to get in there to water and maintain the plants in the back. I still love the tent, but it's one thing I would change. The doors don't need to be any larger, just located more towards the bottom of the tent.

Happy Harvests!

Sounds like you gave those pampered plants a taste of a very windy day ... wake them up ... a bit of stress will probably be good for them in the end ...

Ahhh ... getting to the plants in the back ... it would be nice to have all the plants on a carousel that you could just spin around ... and around ... and around ... and around ... great for the kids too!

I really like that last photo ... pistils ... trichomes ... color ... leaves praying ... that's a very happy plant!!!

UPDATE - DAY #8 OF ALL DEAD! :thedoubletake:

Very sorry for the lack of updates and here's the situation...

The last set of pics I posted was on Friday, ten days ago. I had just given them a TP drench that morning. I didn't check in on them that Saturday but went to do a Brix foliar first thing Sunday morning, opened the tent, and ALL of the IHG plants were fallen over and wilted. The Blackwater seems to have survived.

I immediately tried rescue drenches, but, the soil was still pretty saturated from Friday's feeding so I couldn't get much in. I also sprayed with Destress for the next three days, but by last Thursday, I had pretty much given up since it was clear they weren't recovering.

I've just been very busy since Thursday building and filling a bunch of raised beds and was too depressed to update at the beginning of last week and too busy & tired to update at the end of last week; and I knew this was gonna be a long update.

This is the first failed grow I've had since my very first and not entirely sure what happened but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with that 3rd run soil (in no way blaming the Kit, though!).

For those that have followed my other journal, I was experimenting with some breeding just before I started this grow and the exact same thing happened with about 8 plants I had in the breeding cabinet which is, just after they went into flower, they all suddenly wilted and died.

I was feeding them Fox Farm nutes, but did have them in the same batch of 3rd run soil and, while I suspected some soil problems back then, I chalked it up to the combination of the 3rd run plus the FF nutes just being too hot for the clones in the breeding cabinet.

You can see from the most recent pictures that these looked incredibly healthy on a Friday and within two days, four of the five plants were dead.

I was pretty shocked and upset and apologize to the sponsors, but I'm going to keep this journal and setup for the next grow with a new mix of first run soil and I'm sure things will go much better since they couldn't have gone much worse!

I'm not sure, yet, what I'm going to do with the one surviving Blackwater. I may stick it in the smaller tent, which should be harvested in another week or so, to finish or I might just cull it entirely.

I'll introduce the plants for the next round soon, which will be different strains, but need to get the tent cleaned out first.

Sorry this run turned out to be such a dud! :sorry:

Happy Harvests!

Ack!

I've only had that happen to me once, and that was in veg. You have my sympathies. That's worth a whole long string o' cussin'.

:Namaste:

Dam that sucks I hope your new run will go much better. Are you going to start with new soil this time? I was hoping to use my soil for 3 maybe 4 runs but I see that can be a problem. Good luck on your up coming grow.
