Sphnx's Norcal Outdoor Season

The sun is just a more powerful light.. hydro would do amazing outdoors. It would just take a ton of money for all of the nutrients. So much water needed, so many feedings.. it would be very costly. But overall, if done properly, it would come out better than organic.

Oh I know all about the sun lol another plan of ours is to create a heated greenhouse on the back lawn for winter. Flower under the sun from the end of August until the beginning of April

Also sphnx anther solution to your deer is trip cans. Run fishing line through eyelets around your plants 5-10 feet from them. Connect one end to a bunch of empty soup cans. Make sure it's about 16" high.
When they hit it, it jingles the cans. Good temporary solution but they figure out how to step over it after a few weeks if it's something they desire enough to continue coming back

Yup we only have Black Bears in Cali.

Speaking of black bears lol I shot this one last year hunting whitetails. It was in a den under a tree. Walked right up to it and it came out of the ground! Tense couple of seconds

I got one in 2014, they are really great eating, people don't realize that and I took a lot of flak for killing it from my family. I no longer share my wild game with those who did, they keep asking for venison, maybe they should get it in a nice clean little package like they buy the rest of their meat, cause they aint getting it from me.

Sorry for the derailing of the thread!

I can delete my responses if OP wants.

I don't mind man, no worries at all :) I've never tried bear before. We do have a bear that cruises around the property, he's gotten into the trash before. Fuckin loud animals lol they breathe so heavy.

I use to live in Stuttgart Arkansas. It claims to fame is rice and duck capital of the world. And I use to run a string of duck blinds up and down the Arkansas River. I also use to seel beagles on a magazine called Full Cry Hound mag. Anyways I started talking with this guy on Kodiak Island, and he wanted to trade a hunting trip. Sounds like a winner to me,, a Brown Bear hunt for a Duck Hunt. He came down first and I showed him limits everyday of the hunt. And then I grabbed a puddle jumper and headed to Kodiak Island. I did get a Brown bear of over 450 pounds with my compound. But you can bet I grabbed my 41 mag right after the shot. I was in a tree stand about 12' up and he was on a bait bag,, I know sounds like a cheater ways to hunt. But when you only have 3-5 days to get one,, baits work. Alot of square miles up there and few bears. Beleive it or not,, Arkansas was the first BEAR state. Long before Cali was. They use to hunt bear down there to render the fat into oils to light your home. Well they about killed everyone that was there. Bears are slowly repopulating the sate nowadays.
Bear sure tatses good don't it.. Do it like a pot roast and it's screamer... Hey throw some of that bear fur around your plants and them deer will run for the hills? GL and Keepem Green

I live back in the woods you see, just the women the kids and the dogs and me.

I love Black bear, it's like lean beef. My favorite was to take a ham, coat it in dry rub with a bit of heat, then cover it in dark molasses, wrap and let that sit for 48 hours in the fridge, take it out and bring it up to temp and smoke it over apple wood......dude..

You can't even hunt over a bird bath in this twisted state that has outlawed sensible cougar hunting and bear with hounds. The Deer herds have done nothing but been decimated since, as many people don't know that black bear are the #1 predator of blacktail and mule deer fawn.

I did not save the bear fat from my first, but will for sure with my second, that stuff is AMAZING! From waterproofing boots to making eggs. I did skin and flesh him head to toe, and give canines as gifts, saving one.

Also I was wondering what latitude you sit at? I'm up at latitude 44 but I'm constantly asking fellow growers where they sit at as I pay attention to their grows so I can plan future strains etc... I don't need to know where you live lol just where you sit in terms with the equator. I'm assuming somewhere around 38 by your strains

Strains:
(5) Jedi Northern Lights x Triple OG
(1) Blue Dream x Triple OG
Started from seed indoors. Transplanted outdoors May 19th.
Soil: Worm castings, sea bird guano, carnivorous bat guano, fruit bat guano, composted chicken and cow manure, alfalfa compost, perlite, coco coir, fruit rind/peel compost, kelp compost, fox farm ocean forest, norcal red topsoil (for bacteria), mycelium, and added Mychorrizae
Boxes: 2 yards of soil
7x3 planter: 4.5 yards of soil
In ground hole: 5.75 yards of soil.
I dug into the red dirt a few feet under each box and pulverized the red dirt. Really softened it up, so the roots can continue into the ground. No bottoms on the boxes.

Im glad to be growing again! California said I can have 6. So I'll grow 6 monsters. :thumb:
