Solfire Gardens - Terpgasm

Hard to follow that Seahawks cheer post, should just close the journal, but Here.....We.....Go!

Day 2 Above Ground, Day 2 of Seedling Phase
Light: 18 Hours/day, 22" from Canopy at 25% Intensity
PPFD ~185, DLI 12
76.1D, 74% RH

Hey 4-2-0......Gaz is up and running, she really sprang up fast. That's 2 in a row where the seed pod has stuck to her on the way up (helmet head), a sign I need to bury her more deeply, but cool to see the pod discarded next to the stem.

I really complicate sh*t so let me explain the beginning of my first (and hopefully each major) post.
  1. I like to start most posts with where we are in the grow. I hate when I am reading a journal and have to do math to figure out how old she is when things are being done, etc, so hopefully this helps.
  2. I am a DLI believer (Daily Light Integral) and include that information in primary posts. DLI calculates the amount of light (measured in PPFD) a plant receives in a given period (measured in hours). Over time, DLI ranges have been established for different stages of the grow. Knowledge is power, you can use DLI and outcomes to establish what works best for your favorite breed/strain. I use the chart below (I've seen it around in many journals)

    1731010241873.png
  3. I try to follow VPD (Vapor Pressure Deficit) guidelines, not so much in veg but especially in flower, and include the inputs (RH and Temp) in each post. I think of it as finding that magic mix of RH and temperature that maximizes the plants ability to photosynthesize (make energy). There are VPD charts everywhere if you want to try it, its not as hard as it sounds.
Oh yeah, you want to see her?

Sorry everyone it’s been one of those weeks already. Misses T doing well, tiny 3rd node pushing through so about time for her first feed. Keeping her warm and damp but will start to harden tomorrow.

Day 10 Above Ground, Day 10 of Seedling Phase
Light: 18 Hours/day, 22" from Canopy at 25% Intensity
PPFD ~185, DLI 12
77.1D, 64% RH

Hey Everyone.........everything is on point so far. I'll probably give her a little snort of Silica and s 1/8 strength feed in the next few days but in the mean time, just keeping her warm and pretty damp still, although I am going to try to get a wet/dry cycle going soon (hard when she is this small). Have a good weekend!

This first pict is numbered so I can point out a few things us pro's do to ensure the highest quality grow

IMG_2203.jpeg

  1. Some growers will use a screw driver to release the clamp that connects the silver exhaust duct to the carbon filter. However, many old-timers know that it's much quicker to just drop the carbon filter to the floor so that it tears away from the duct work. This creates a ragged edge that is clearly visible in the photo and has an added benefit of dangling down into the grow tent proper.
  2. This is a must.......make sure all cords are on the tent floor and ideally tangled to minimize safety and prevent easy access. Pro tip: Place the cable ball next to a water source (humidifier in this case) to increase the odds of an electrical fire. Label your drinking water if you bring it into the tent, Foxfarm Big Bloom tastes like bat poop.
  3. No grow setup is complete w/o milk crates performing a critical function they were not designed for. In this example I have a power cord wound through a hole in the milk crate. This serves no purpose and will actually increase the likelihood of an accident when i remove the cord a month from now and have forgotten it's physically connected to the crate.
  4. Highlighting my Vivosun1500 LED........This light was off balance by a full "bubble" on my level this morning, not sure how it got like that (I need someone to blame) but have that corrected. Growers like to organize the loose cordage from the light, but us Pros wad it all up and toss them on top of the grow light. This "may" be a fire hazard but more importantly, the benefits of tangled string in the lighting system are immeasurable.
  5. I am not sure what 5 is but the pro's know that it doesn't really matter what it is. We place odd things all around the tent, sometimes that have nothing to do with a grow itself, and don't tell anyone what they are. That may be my ergometer or not :)

Hi again! I was just about to ask you what's next, but i have already figured out since i found this new grow journal.

I see you're using "Great White Premium Mycorrhizae" but unfortunately can't find this product around my area so i won't be able to use it. But instead i can buy "Orca Liquid Mycorrhizae".

Maybe you could advice me if this product is also good as yours. You can find it here:

Happy birthday to you happy birthday to you happy birthday miss Terpy, happy birthday to you (14 days above ground today). I gave her a feed as a present, her first, a diluted tincture of calmag, big bloom, and grow big (primary nutrient during veg) ppm ~400/ph6.3. Shes a cool looking little lady…..

lol, thanks for checking in my friend. I admit it I am a huge Batman fan so likely a few more posts coming about that.

Welcome back Herjack! I’m not a good resource for that. I don’t know a lot about it. Maybe one of the team here knows more about Myco than I do and can tell you what to look for.

They're pretty much the same thing, except Orca doesn't have trichoderma, and a few additives.
There's sugars and minerals in Great White that act as food for the microbes after you add water to break their dormancy. If they were there in the liquid form you'd have gasses building up in the bottle.

Hey Everyone, My apologies, I have not been a good Journal host nor have I been checking in on all your fantastic work over the past month or so. You ever just get stuck in a rut, no reason really, just like.......fuck it? I've been in one of those, not a good excuse, but I am back and have a lot of catching up to do! While I've been moping around, TerpG has been growing up fast and is pushing what looks like her 5th node (pict below). Her color is a beautiful, an electric green paired with dusky-grey-blue hues at the base of her new leaves. No smell yet other than.......me, yikes, working from home has its draw backs :).

I've got fun gardening work to do this week:
  1. She's been in the solo cup for 20 days now and needs to be up-potted. For me, that means she goes into a 1G plastic pot which I prepared today (more info on the soil mix in my next "up-pot post").
  2. I gave her a feed today in prep for the transplant, her second now, at ~350 PPM. She's responded really well to Foxfarm's Grow Big (primary N source) so far and I'll start increasing the PPM's gradually over the next two weeks.
  3. From the reading I've done, a quadline involves topping a plant once, (in my case between the 4th and 5th nodes), and then stripping away nodes 1 and 2, leaving only nodes 3 and 4 which will produce four colas. Once I get her transplanted I'll top her like that and as shown in the photo below, maybe 2-3 days unless I get impatient and do it during the transplant.
I'm tempted to just quadline her, train laterally for a bit, and and let her go, w/o the SCROG......I am going to have to decide soon, maybe a full belly of turkey will help the decision making process. Have a good week and happy Thanksgiving for those in the states!

Welcome back and out of the funk!
Hey Carmen, thanks, I am rebooted and ready to spend a bunch of money over the holidays....oh wait ;)

Hey 420…..Happy Thanksgiving……Miss T is resting comfortably in her new 1G pot after a busy day transplanting on Wednesday. I also topped her, then fed her, ppm ~550, ph 6.4, and after a little droopiness (which you can see in the photos), she perked back up this morning. I’ve not been paying much attention to her but she looks to be in pretty good shape. I’ll strip the lower nodes in a couple of days after she recovers and then start working to train her laterally. I think I’m gonna skip the Scrog and just quad line her.
