SoilGirl's Soil Multi-Strain Grow Journal 2014

Thanks Ewok! I appreciate the support! Also, Ewok OG is one of my favorite strains ;)
Now, time for an update today! :ganjamon:

So, yesterday I noticed the early nute burn/phos deficiency in my big UKH#1 plant. Today, it doesn't seem to have spread further up my plant thankfully, but the affected leaves are certainly looking uglier today. UKH#2, who I watered with the same concentration of nutes, is actually doing great, no problem leaves so far... it must have a better tolerance for more nutes. I'm glad to learn this, every plant has its own unique personality and needs different conditions to thrive... now that I know, their clones will hopefully be even happier than their mothers :)
below, are a couple pics of the progression of the problem leaves:

Now besides that, UKH#1 is still looking quite happy! I'm glad the nute burn wasn't severe. She's picking up pistils left and right, but I'll wait a week or so to go to more pistil closeups since they're still a bit of a nuisance to get on camera in this wind >.< UKH#1 pics below.

Now my hardy and definitely early flowering UKH#2, who definitely took kindly to my LST and Defol attempts! She's even starting to give off a bit of a citrusy sativa smell, I'm definitely excited to see how she turns out. :hippy:

Black Bubba and Euphoria seem to be taking to their new homes quite nicely, I don't think I'm even going to Fim or LST either of them, I'll just trust in mother nature to give me some happy plants, and do my best to help her out along the way. :Namaste: Also I have some good news, I found 3 more BBK seeds that look very viable, so BBK will likely be in my indoor grow later this year! Yay! :allgood: BBK on the right, Euphoria on the left.

Now a quick look at my Fim attempts on the little UKH#1 and #2 clones. I think I may have cut it a bit low, but we'll see how things turn out.

Thanks for following, I truly value all the love and support here! all advice is welcome! :peace::circle-of-love::peace:

Your burn looks a little like what I experienced a couple weeks ago. I think it was caused by my pH getting out of whack. Since then the only water the girls(?) have received is rain. It doesn't appear to be getting any worse on mine.

Other than that, your plants look great. Too bad there are no nail shots this time.

Hahaha, thanks Maggie! Yeah, right now my nails are not shot-worthy lol :laughtwo: I took care not to expose the horror in my pics :P
I'll get them re-done in time for my next update I'm sure :riskybusiness:
About the burn, yeah I bet the pH has something to do with it, these new organic nutes seem to be a bit on the lower end of the pH spectrum. I'm going to give UKH#1 clean pH water this next watering til I get a lot of runoff and see if that helps at all.
thanks for coming by!! :circle-of-love:

I think you've started a signature trend for yourself with those nails. Might want a patent on those nails. This is what makes this site so great, the individual personalities. The glory of creation is in its infinite diversity and the ways our differences combine to create meaning and beauty.

Looking really good my friend!! UKH#1 is gonna be one sexy looking lady come bloom day! ;) :surf:

Keep up the good work :cheertwo:
Thank you dear Lester!! It helps me relax knowing you have one eye watching my grow ;) She sure will - or at least that's the plan :) Now she just needs a sexy name... anyone got any suggestions?

Lol Hi Chinnubie! :ciao: How poetic of you! I totally 100% agree, the people here are all so different, but all so awesome!
About the patent - I think I'll not try that one. Did you know that Amazon literally got a patent for their "technique of taking a photo on a seemless white background"??? I for one, think the patent thing has gone too far LOL! But a signature trend? Hell yeah!
Awesome comment :D thanks Chin-Chin!-sorry if you don't like that nickname, its what a dog I used to walk was named, just tell me if you don't approve ;)

I am usually good with names, but have no inspiration right now! Maybe something to do with purple... :hmmmm: how about Velvet? I like how that sounds.

I am jelly on your nails! I got uglier nails then my bf  though, I should paint his and make him take pics near the girls :laughtwo:

All the ladies look great, I think the slight burn/deficiency isn't something major and I am happy you got great help here

Hahahah I'd love to see that! :circle-of-love: I'm sure your nails are just fine though! Velvet... velvet... that's a start but I want there to be another word with it... what is purple and lovable besides barney LOL.
Thanks Tenshi! :Love::Love:
I guess just call it "Soil Girl"

:surf: :circle-of-love:
Hahaha Aww! I'm not sure that's a sexy name, I wasn't so creative coming up with my 420 forum name, but that could be the name for my Big UKH#1 now that you've suggested it! Thanks for the suggestion Lester :) I'll think more on it as I have a little puff.

Oh no you didn't chinnubie. !
Now I have to go out and get a personality.
It was going so well :)

OK, time for a long update today, some of the first pics I'll show are from the 17th though. So for a few days (until today) we had lots of clouds and endless on-and-off drizzle. It was good and bad. I needed there to be a little flushing for UKH#1, and I think the rainwater definitely helped (not to mention we have lots of rainwater caught again :) ) but on the other hand, there wasn't much direct sunlight which I was a bit upset about. But what definitely annoyed me was the humidity, which got to 85 one foggy morning. Now its down to 40.. needless to say, pretty eclectic weather. OK here's some pics during those few days.

Above are just some zoomed out pics of all my outdoor plants getting some drizzle. Below are some closeups of how the FIM's looked on the little UKH#1 and #2 clones that day, the one with the really deformed leaf is UKH#2, at that point I still thought I'd get a third top out of that, but... was maybe a millimeter or 2 short on my cut. So, that FIM lived up to it's namesake.

Below are some pics of those FIM's 2 days later, the UKH#2 clone unfortunately only got 2 tops out of the FIM. UKH#1 got 3 though :thanks: , thank you very much. *elvis voice* :icon_cool
Hahaha. The one with the little spider on it is the UKH#2 clone, at first I saw a little web and went into mite-mode, but then I saw him. Now he's my little white spider pal. Hope he's hungry!

Now, I must have been really medicated because I don't remember doing it at all, but I suppose I FIMmed little Euphoria. :lot-o-toke: Pics below.

Now on to big UKH#2, who I have informally named Juicy Lucy after seeing lots of nicely named plants and feeling dull. :laughtwo::hippy:
She's starting to smell nice and fruity, and is getting these delicate little white pistils that I adore. I'm so excited for her bloom!

20140719_160827.jpg

Now onto my largest plant, big UKH#1, who I'm still looking to name. Suggestions welcome! I picked off all the nute-burned leaves, and she's looking lovely! She's got lots of pistils but they're mostly short and chubby, although some are long and curly. I'm really happy with the way she's bushing out, and so stoked to see what happens with all the colas in the next month or so. Today she got the sun she was craving.

and finally... a little peek at my two still-rooting UKH#2 clones. Looking happy and green :) the one on the left is definitely rooting, I can tell because I can lift up the whole cube by the stem. The one on the right is going a bit slower I think, because it still feels a bit loose. Crossing my fingers for her.

That's all for now! Any comments, questions or advice I will appreciate very much/answer ASAP! May the almighty Sun God (or for you indoor growers out there, the mighty electronic light gods Haha) bring us all a beautiful bounty of medicine! Thanks for following! Now time for dinner. :Namaste::thanks::peace:

Why, thank you kind Ser Lester!
I'm hoping my big UKH#1 might give your gorgeous non-forced KC-45 a run for her money! :circle-of-love: (Not a Chance Lol, but a girl can hope!!)
I wish you a wonderful evening in return my friend, with many hungry moth-slaying bats! :hugs::Namaste:

Thanks Trapr! I'm excited for my euphoria plant, I wonder if we have the same strain of euphoria, I've looked it up and some people say its a sativa, but the dispensary I got it from had it listed as a 80% indica dominant strain. I'm interested to see how it grows, and hopefully get a clone of it along with my other strains. I hate losing genetics...but then you're forced to try new ones which is also exciting. At least I still have 3 BBK seeds :)

By the way, I'll update in a little while, got some pretty good pics earlier, but I just wanted to say, I'm ordering a Mars II 1600w LED!! Gonna get it ordered probably tomorrow, been talking to SmokeSara about it! Time to start getting geared up for my indoor grow, even though its alot earlier than I expected for that! YAY!!! :yahoo:
I'm probably going to try and get a clone from each of my current strains in case they turn out particularly good, bulky, tasty, resilient by outdoor harvest time, then choose which ones I want to get going indoors. I'm going to try to do a CO Finest style scrog with one plant, but may end up doing a SOG with a couple...we'll see. I'll let you know how my indoor operation develops! Going to order some mylar space blankets because they're cheaper from what I've seen than full sheets of mylar, get some vermiculite to further customize my soil mix, and many other things. I'd love any and all suggestions, I want this indoor grow to be my best yet, thanks!

Edit: just saw your post Lester! Thank you! I hope you're well today too :D I've done lots of work outdoors til just recently. Phew I'm exhausted, but it's nice to get some air.

1600, outstanding. You will have some monster yields. I can't wait to here you kick off that grow. We are getting freaking hail right now. Cool weather is awesome. Plants loving it. I wish you the best and happy growing to you

OK time for today's update :420: :Namaste:

I'm so excited for my flowering plants, seeing more and more pistils every day, it just makes life so happy :) I'm sure my fellow growers would agree. :circle-of-love: Unfortunately I'm seeing lots of little flies, not fungus gnats, but kindof mini normal flies that seem to suck little spots of chlorophyll out of my leaves, along with myriads of other bugs that are just chomping the leaves on my largest plant, UKH#1, so earlier I sprayed all my plants with MGIS w/ spinosad earlier. Hopefully that will help. Now onto everyone's favorite part, the pics, I'll explain as I go. :;):

First off, lets look at UKH#1, still with no name, :hmmmm: trying to think of one, perhaps I'll go ask trichomes to help come up with one in his yard hahaha. He seems to always have a good name. So UKH#1 is getting the most of the chomped leaves, but otherwise is looking great in my humble opinion ;) you can see a little of the chomped leaves in my pistil pic.. probably just those ugly grasshoppers. here are a few pics:

20140723_113748.jpg

Now lets take a look at the hub/main stem of UKH#1, which I'm pretty pleased with so far considering its only in 6 gallons and had a rough early life:

20140723_113916.jpg
20140723_131027.jpg

Now lets look at UKH#2, AKA Juicy Lucy, whose pistils are so beautiful to me, however the pistil pic isn't very good, I'll get better ones soon...if only you all could see her in person, I Love her so much Lol: :circle-of-love::kiss::laugh:

20140723_113340.jpg
20140723_113352.jpg
20140723_113849.jpg

Ok, now a look at Euphoria and BBK (BBK in black, Euphoria in white, ignore the bigger plant for now) :

20140723_113233.jpg

Now a peek at my UKH#2/Juicy Lucy clone, happily transplanted to a 4gal yesterday, a mix consistent with what she was in before.

20140723_113250.jpg

UKH#1 clone was also transplanted, but into a slightly larger pot, probably ~5gal, same mix.

20140723_113300.jpg

And Finally, my two baby UKH#2 clones (who apparently had to slightly re-veg themselves, because I found a couple really skinny pistils up in their upper nodes) finally popping roots outta their cubes! Yay, that makes 4/5 clones successful! Not too shabby for a newbie cloner with a ghetto clone set up if I do say so myself :ganjamon::slide:

20140723_113442.jpg

So, all is well in my yard this fine day. :surf: Thanks for watching my outdoor journey this summer, please feel free to comment, question, or give advice at any time! Mahalo to all you lovely farmers and growers :Namaste: HAPPY GROWING!!! :peace::Love::peace:RoorRip
