SoilGirl's Soil Multi-Strain Grow Journal 2014

I thought maybe he was an Air Traffic Controller... Sorry to threadJack.
Lol oh, no problem :passitleft:
Happy !!:cheertwo: everything went great, and happy your ladies are alright and last but not least happy your dad was safe :)

Did you experience a OMG how much they grown shock? I always have one when I return from a period away, comes after OMG they're probably dead thoughts

While you were gone I managed to nuke my two bubblelicious auto, then with all the love and help from :420: we managed to rescue them

:circle-of-love: Glad you're back!!
Aww :thanks: I totally experienced some shock. My Euphoria and BBK look so different now and it was only 8 days, and everything is flowering.. the way Euphoria is flowering is so beautiful I can already see the nugs... I love the way she's turned out, gonna clone her today.
oh yeah... I saw your bubbles. that's unfortunate.. but at least they're alive :) NLxBB is stunning too. Are you thinking of popping any more seeds? I am going to be adding outdoor plants for a while yet actually, I've found that even in more northern parts of CO I can just bring my plants inside around 7 pm and put them out around 11 am and pretty much keep the plants going happy outdoors/indoors through November.
:welcome: back SoulGal very good update & your girls look very happy! What kind of dog ate the baby girl?

I grew up with a black lab and then another black lab. It was good to your avatar again!

& congrats on your nomination
Thanks trichs! :Namaste: the suspects for killing my euphoria baby clone are Rottweiler puppies, since my pit/choc lab/boxer mix was with me in Denver. One, named Loki after the norse trickster god, I am very sure did the deed.. but he's laying so cute snuggled around my feet right now its hard to be mad. :circle-of-love:
Best wishes from my yard to yours! :cheertwo:
Subbed! Awaiting updates
:welcome: thanks for joining us! I hope you can learn something, and/or maybe feel like commenting or sharing some info every now and then, don't be shy :)
Glad you had a good trip. It sure is nice to get home though.
Definitely nice to be back, but I already miss the mountains up around Boulder, so does my dog Gandhi. >.< Oh well. Thank you!
Welcome back my euforia finally started coming around
Yay! I'll come check that out,
thanks!:high-five:

As if I needed to say so, your plants are looking fantastic. Pops did a good job while you were gone. Glad you are back in a more relaxed environment with the plants. Spend some time with them match a few bowls :volcano-smiley: :volcano-smiley:

Glad to have you back and posting. Can't wait to see more

Be Well my friend! :hugs: :circle-of-love:

Was actually planning on ordering more seeds this week  and am germinating one more bubblelicious, but not looking good so far, 4 days and no sign, not giving up on her yet though.
I can easily go November if the sun gods are kind. If I close the windows and put the fan that has heating option, will be no problem during the night. Pretty decent insulation on the balcony.
:cheertwo:

great update!!

wow they look fucking greeeeat :) did you use regular seeds then and got all fems?!

Still an amazing forrest !!! But more important very happy for your dad !!!
Thank you =) I think I'll add a couple not so crappy pics in a few minutes
;) :thanks:

Aww thanks Lester! I'm glad to be back :) about to go check out your beautiful yard actually, wondering if you chopped that last force flower yet or not...
I will definitely match a few bowls hahaha... gonna go smoke one with my plants right now actually! RoorRip
Feel free to stop by! :high-five::hugs:

Sounds like a plan :) sometimes they can be slow poppers so yeah, don't give up. I'd totally add a few beans if I were you, its not too late, they won't be monsters but they'll be good buds if all goes well ;)
- do me a solid and grow some blue blood/african bush/northern lights x chronic/or OG Kush if you want and paint your nails purple hahaha. I'd love to see those grown by others.
great update!!

Thank you my moving friend ;) I used seeds I got out of my buds from dispensaries in/around Denver, 4 different strains sprouted so I've been cloning a lot off of them.
Technically since they came from inside my buds, and if they were grown perfectly this should have been avoided, that means the seeds were feminized from my understanding of the feminizing process. Basically those buds either came from a hermie plant, making the seeds fem seeds, or they came from an accidental cross pollination which I think is less likely.
I recently placed my first seed order, with some regular seeds, so we'll see how long my all female seed germinating streak lasts. If I had to guess, so far I've gotten 20+ females in a row all from seeds from inside my buds from colorado dispensaries without a single male popping up.

hmm well i found seeds in my females last year and there were no males around thats for sure and no hermies, and this year they were all fems too, ok some hermies but thats ok, but yeh all the regular sedds from my last years grow was females, hmm maybe theres an evolution hapeening with ganja!

thanks for the new word I learned from you (and Wiki) today.

at first when i saw "trickster", the trichster assumed you referred him, lol.

"Thanks trichs! the suspects for killing my euphoria baby clone are Rottweiler puppies, since my pit/choc lab/boxer mix was with me in Denver. One, named Loki the norse trickster god, I am very sure did the deed.. but he's laying so cute snuggled around my feet right now its hard to be mad.

when i read that, i had to google the words in bold, for a second i thought i was a god  great share, :thankyou:

WIKI pasted here: In mythology, and in the study of folklore and religion, Loki, a trickster (not trichster)is a god, goddess, spirit, man, woman, or anthropomorphic animal who exhibits a great degree of intellect or secret knowledge and uses it to play tricks or otherwise disobey normal rules and conventional behavior. It is suggested by Hansen (2001) that the term "Trickster" was probably first used in this context by Daniel G. Brinton in 1885.

what a coincidence that i almost share your puppies name :cheesygrinsmiley: :high-five: i like Loki :green_heart:

I will for sure look into those strains. Though I want to get more auto's to be honest, still have over 10 regular seeds in the fridge :biglaugh: But that's not the reason, I really love autoflowers, can't explain why :) just fell in love with them
or euphoria or black bubba :) we may likely be seeing those again in my growing.
It's cool hahaha, I bet you could find auto versions of at least one of those though ;) I'm kinda the opposite... I just love naturally growing seeds.... Never done an auto though so I suppose I'm biased, I just don't really want to do an auto, change is scawy. :passitleft:

Haha well I don't mean to be uppity, but if you got seeds with no males around, they were probably from hermies, which means they were feminized seeds like I expect mine are, so it makes a little more sense we've had such good luck with our female seed rates.

Hahaha Loki is one of my little angels, even though he has his devil moments. I'm glad I helped you learn something ;) I take pride in giving good pet names that most other people don't give Lol, Loki soooo fits that crazy sweet rottie, Gandhi so fits my little pit/boxer/choc. lab.
Who doesn't  Loki  !!!
Thor doesn't in the avengers  I so love our dogs. My heart bursts a thousand times a day with them.
cats don't  meow
Neither do our chickens :rolleyes3:laugh:

Great Morning Monsieur Teddy, :thanks: its always nice to see you. I think you'll be happy to know, I have done my best to redeem myself of my last update's awful pics, and I'm mostly satisfied with the end results given that my camera is also my phone, which I also use for virtual fruit slashing..

Enter; redemption photography update... to be later followed by bud pics from my mix n match oz.

My green family sends love from Colorado to you wherever you are!

and this is the pistil pic of my mid sized lucy clone that looked so awful yesterday..

Now, these are a couple pistil pics of one of the top colas of big mama UKH1:

Now this is a lovely top cola pistil pic of Juicy Lucy.

Now, a bunch of assorted flower nub pistil pics from Euphoria, I tried to emphasize her newfound beauty upon my return, and failed, so here is attempt No. 2 :Namaste::

Here's a couple zoom outs on Euphoria, whose pic was also dreadful yesterday.

20140820_124446.jpg

Ok here's a couple pics of my mid sized lucy clone.. though I suppose its not a major step up from yesterday's. She's not very photogenic Lol. I love her nonetheless but her beauty is hard to bring to light of the camera, she always turns up a bit.. scraggly lookin'.

20140820_124459.jpg
20140820_124519.jpg

and here's mid sized UKH1 clone, now, this photo was not representative of this photo update. The sun was so bright I couldn't see my phone screen so I was kinda just pointing and shooting. :laughtwo: but I do think its still a half step up from yesterdays pic of it >.<

20140820_124553.jpg

This photo I enjoy. Juicy Lucy is the main model in this pic, but she has a few side girls to highlight the background as well ;)

20140820_124617.jpg

Now, BBK again, lol, I realize this update is a bit eclectic, forgive me.

20140820_124624.jpg

and I think.... this is BBK's pistils.... uhm, hmmm.......:lot-o-toke:

20140820_124710.jpg

Oh, and I took 3 clones yesterday, one a reveg BBK cutting, the other 2 Euphoria cuttings, also slight reveg. The euphoria are on the right, the BBK is alone out in front/left. The second pic shows BBK's pistils near her top.

Ok I gotta go run outside and move my plants back in the sun :S Thanks for coming by, love ya, I'll smoke one for ya, and get some nice nuggy pics for you in a little bit. :circle-of-love::passitleft::ciao:

So, a little more info on the plants, I've been adding a touch of Mad Farmer's Be One and a touch of Mad Farmer's Silica to each watering of every plant, about a half tsp per gal (2.5 mL/gal). The Be One is a vitamin B1 supplement with some other good stuff in it for rooting and shock. The silica raises silicon levels in the plants, helping with rigidity/strength/thickness of branches and overall health/yield.

For every plant, I've been sticking to General Organics' instructions except halving the dose, and adding some BioThrive Grow for some nitrogen lately, and not quite halving the CaMg+. I also add about half a tsp per gal of Microbe Life, maybe this is too much? dunno. I'm not liking the yellow low fans I'm finding on big mama UKH1, but otherwise everyone else is loving life. I just get this gut feeling that I'm F*cking up big mama UKH1 somehow or other, but I guess we'll see in the end.

I've still been using all rainwater, almost ran out but then it rained while I was gone and we're back in the 100+ gallon range.

Otherwise plant maintenance has been mostly just keeping them in the light for 6+ hrs a day if possible, rotating some of my plants to try and keep top growth even and expose light to lower growth, removing dead/dying/damaged leaves, sometimes culling low growth, sometimes doing a little bit of bending of branches here and there to encourage growth in the ways I desire, and staying vigilant of pests.

I also learned today that while I was gone, my Dad got our little halogen motion sensor night lights back up and running in our backyard, so my plants may well have been getting their photoperiods interrupted at night while I was gone, maybe majorly, definitely minor stress though. I covered those damn lights up with a couple t-shirts, they won't be sensing anything at night time for a while -.-

I spend lots of time out with my plants, sometimes just staring at them and picking off leaves and inspecting the inner workings of the plant, other times singing or playing guitar to them, or reading by them, smoking out sitting with them and just meditating on life. Other times sitting out there with them glaring over at people that are visiting the open house next door, wishing they would get struck by lightning and get send away running and crying >.< I'm very protective of my plants, and there's still an air of unacceptance in this county towards all things weed.

Mehh, just kinda rambling now, so I'm gonna go smoke and take some nug pics lol. see ya soon!

Edit: Oh I got my soil I ordered, its Sunshine Mix #4 Advanced, with about 45-55% Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss, then the rest being made up of the following: Coco Coir, Horticultural Grade Coarse Perlite, Dolomite Lime, Mycorrhizae, and an organic Yucca wetting agent. So I'll mix that with whats left of my Sunshine #4 Organic, and that will be the base of my custom soil mix.

My soil mix that I'll be using for my indoor grow will be 3 parts Sunshine Mix #4 Advanced/Organic as a base to encourage early root development and let me have more control over the nutrients that will be needed throughout the grow, 1 part homemade compost made of organic table scraps of everything from chicken eggs/bones to banana peels and pomegranate rinds and grass and some coffee grounds and apple cores etc. as an organic nutrient source for my plants to be made available throughout the grow by microbes in the soil, 1 part just local soil I till up from the ground because I like its sandy clay-ness and I like how everything just grows in it naturally here, 1 part vermiculite to act as a catalyst between roots and nutrients in the soil, 1 part coarse perlite for extra drainage.

I like the sound of that soil mix. I've been pretty happy with the FFOF, but like you, I want more control over what nutes the plants are getting and when.

I just felt like doing some pics of the buds I'm smoking on, they're all from the Greenest Green, Boulder, CO. This photo shoot was inspired by Lester lol ;)

So this is Cherry Diesel, a repost from the other day, but still so potent to see and taste :Namaste: It is a major head rush high, makes you go woah and see stars with every decent bong rip. The taste is very diesel fuel, but with a little sweet citrus in there.
20140818_173629.jpg
20140818_173620.jpg

Now, what I've been smoking on while I was taking these new pics, XJ-13, a sativa cross with G-13. Not as much of a punch you in the face head rush as Cherry D, more mellow, which I enjoy too. Has a bit more of a peppery flavor with fruity undertones. Very active high, nice smell of sweet spicy flowers.

20140820_151530.jpg
20140820_151557.jpg
20140820_151607.jpg

Now this is their Private Reserve (uber top shelf) OG Kush. Absolutely epic weed. Tastes like overpowering diesel fuel but with some strong lemon juicy tartness in there, with a high that's very stony, helps you get to bed and with pain, but not so badly stony that you can't be active. And what's BEST... I got some seeds of it!!! It's amazing even with seeds in it, who's a lucky gal, uhmmmmmm? ME! ;)

20140820_152523.jpg
20140820_152615.jpg

Now, the Birthday Cake, a delicious indica strain. Very dense and sticky, very stony body high, tastes very sweet and earthy and fruity, reminiscent of Girl Scout Cookies, and is very strong. Overall great indica meds I wish I had another oz of it.

20140820_153317.jpg

Last but not least, my Girl Scout Cookies :) tastes like a little bit of that bubba/og tang, with some rotten fruit flavor, and a little coffee thrown in, actually very lovely. Very indica stony. I have more GSC left than anything else, and I'm happy with that. These are all the buds I have left until my first outdoor harvest of this grow, I'm totally spent, you could call me B A G, Broke Azz Girl. I probably have, maybe a half oz left, if I'm lucky.

Verrrry nice updates. Lordy, you're so sorted. You remind me of Mrs Teddy.
:thanks::Love:

Oh, PS....I am also having problems with yellowing fan leaves on a maturing plant like you with big mama. Flat pale yellow and then they fall. More N did't help but the tops are still lovely. I don't like it either. I'm also kelp foliar feeding. Still continues. Yours, puzzled....Mr Teddy x
