SoulGirl...

Hahaha, Gfc, all of Colorado isn't mountains, (though it's still high elevation) in fact I'd say most of it is the eastern plains... but those are boring, you might as well stay in Kansas rather than visit them lol. The mountains are insanely beautiful though. the Maroon Bells, the Garden of the Gods, Rocky Mountain National Park, and basically any wild spots in the CO mountains are just so magical. You should come see them some time :) lol. Though I know Washington's beautiful too.

Or you could come to the southwest lol, its a bit more deserty - but still magical, go see mesa verde then run by my house lol and we can have a joint and a :volcano-smiley:

- yes, and the people here are pretty no-nonsense progressive as a whole lol. Though there's some consolidated conservatives that have some pull (Fort Collins and CO Springs mostly, and then there's rural conservatives that just don't know what they're voting for, basically). I'm glad we surprised people LOL. I thought it was a longshot at first lol, but I think a big thing was how governor Hicky-loopy pissed off the young vote hahahaha. He came out againt legalization, after making his own fortune and building a political career off his alcohol dealings, saying it would lead to more crime.... yeah, because throwing hundreds of people in prison for a harmless plant is the ideal way to keep it. F*** that. Young people overwhlemingly came out to vote, and smothered the bitter old conservative geezers that were against it. Finally a reason to be proud of my generation LOL.

if only we could be bothered during a midterm.... lol. this really is embarrassing to have Cory Gardner win over Mark Udall >.< How the HELL?? He's against gay marriage, doesn't believe humans are causing climate change, he voted to let employers deny certain health benefits based off of their religious beliefs, F*** This Guy, he doesn't honestly represent Colorado...

Rant over. LOL. Nothing like a wake-'n-bake-'n-rant on a birthday morning. :roorrip::lot-o-toke:

Hahah I saved up all my scissor hash from my more recent harvests, and a little charas leftover from that lucy plant, and I'm smoking a bong for once haha. It's a nice start to the day, it tastes kinda spicy, not too strong, but not weak either lol.

Hope everyone else is enjoying their days today :)

Much love Reg thanks!! :circle-of-love:

Well HAPPY B-DAY. SG hope your day is filled with sweet smoke.

All the best from Vancouver island.
SBG out.

i had a thought once ;) if a leap year is every 4 years, and in that leap year as we all know is one extra day. so lets say in theory, a 12 year old is celebrating his birthday, wouldnt the correct birthday for this 12 year old be his original birth day -3 days?

so a 24 year old like my self would be cinco de mayo -6 days, which would put me a april baby now??

ah haha, honestly this is a giant conversation i started between my oldest sis, and my fiance. i question everything, even my true birthday :O

thought i should share that here with you guys.

Happy Birthday SoilGirl, i hope the TV remote is all yours today. ;)

Happy birthday SoilGirl
I think you’re twenty two
It doesn’t really matter
Your whole life’s before you

Don’t get old and grouchy
Don’t let life bother you
Let living be your mantra
And stay always twenty two

Happy birthday wishes!

Aww.. thanks so much everyone! You guys gave me a huge smile, thank you for all the kind wishes! Loved your poem Mr. Teddy, sweet and short :) and hahaha that's an interesting thought Gfc, that would make my real birthday... oh I don't even know. In November? :laughtwo: I think I'll just leave it at Dec. 4th ;) - and bright that's exactly what I was thinking. I'm waiting to see if Mitch will be coming over tonight or not, I've been saving the last of my outdoor BBK for today. If he isn't coming you bet I'll be vaping that BBK the second I find out, with my stoner dog Gandhi lol. I really should get a pic of him licking the smoke out of a bong or the vape and making his stoner face. I think that would give many laughs here. And the hash was pretty good too.

my oldest sis and fiance came to the conclusion that, your celebrating the "day" that you were born being the number and month of that year you were born and has nothing to do with leap years. but i still argued that with our leap year invention the math doesnt add up ;)

this is just a example at how much i truly question, i think when i was a kid i was told to just shut up alot, which evolved into me questioning everything. i dano, HA

LOL. I find myself agreeing with your sister and fiance. Much love Gfc :passitleft:  more people should question everything haha. But some things can definitely be overthought :laughtwo:

First harvest this journal!
4 plants to chop, all placed outside to flower at the same time, then brought back inside, where they were attacked by hordes of pests, but they made it and while not my best work, they will do. And I'm excited, they smell great, they're sticky still, just not a scale-buster. The pest problems scare me for quality.... but I don't really see any glaring atrocities yet besides on one BBK.

Lets start with the crappiest plant so we can build up from there. This is the stretchy problem child Black Bubba Kush. Skinniest nugs, but very very sticky. Literally black. from the cold. They turned my scissors black, or really dark purple, and gave me lots of scissor hash which I really enjoyed about 2 seconds ago lol. I'm not going to save scissor hash anymore... its way way better fresh. I think its the fresh terpenes...

But yeah this is the one that got the worst of the mites. I gave her a close pre-wash trim because all I can think about is mite webbing and eggs and dead mites all over those leaves, and I got most of that stuff off. Next the wash should really help out too. I also found some really whack little white.... almost pill bug looking things, but like they were covered in white dust.

They were only on the underside of a few sugar leaves but, UGLY. I thought they were dustballs until I squished one and liquid came out >.< ...thank god they were only on this BBK. I saw none on any other plants.. ew.... *shudders*...

PC050013.JPG

Now the good little Bonsai BBK... This reveg plant rocks... its like. 7-8 inches tall and has the fattest buds of this harvest. I'm realizing that these strains really will do best kept stocky and with exposed nodes all over. Literally Black. Yeah, from the cold. lol. But, at the same time Euphoria didn't turn this blacky/purple color, so I think BBK is living up to it's name at least a little. ;)

PC050009.JPG
PC050012.JPG

Now the bud-on-a-stick Euphoria. Probably the single best bud cluster of all 4 getting cut today up at the top (which I can easily attribute to it being closest to the light, and actually, the trichs also noticeably aged faster than on the other Euphoria. But, this is also the Euphoria that got badly mite-attacked, at least on fan leaves. Here's the plant, that nug, then a pic of why I love this strain so much haha... all the trichs that develop on the underside of the fan and sugar leaves, like a reversed-gravity snow blanket lol.

PC050019.JPG
PC050020.JPG

PC050014.JPG

(I took the above pic before trimming off the leaves - if you look closesly, you can see what I was trying to get rid of on the underside of some leaves, some leftover dead mites and webbing)

And now just the best overall plant of this chop, my tri-tip Euphoria. The mites ignored this one, even though it was sitting right next to, and physically touching the stretchy BBK. I think there's something to be said for that, because this plant was insanely healthy its whole life, laughing in the face of my abuse and neglect. Since Gfc and I (and Corgie and others) were talking about plants being able to fight off mites just by being really strong I wanted to bring that up...

Yeah I saw one or two mites crawling on its leaves that were touching BBK too, but they weren't setting up shop haha.

Here's the plant and a top bud
PC050016.JPG
PC050017.JPG

...which makes me sad... but I'm not going to keep a Euphoria as a reveg after this chop. For explanation, I didn't take into account how much light penetration the Mars II 1600 has, it made even lower nodes that would usually be popcorn (which I would keep on the plant as potential reveg nodes) turn into very worthy nugs, I'm worried about pests that may hitchhike into the veg room despite my precautions, and I actually have too many strains going as it is haha. I'm faithful that my genetics will be amazing enough to help me forget Euphoria for the time being... but maybe its not a final goodbye, I have one last gorgeous Euphoria seed sitting waiting for its time. ;)

Now its wash time. Maybe I'll put pics of that up in a little while. Been a busy day, hope everyone's well! :Namaste:

The Wash and Hang!

So I wash with 4 5 gal buckets, (ok the first is a little smaller lol)

first: room temp tap water w/ some eyeballed 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide poured in. Like.. ~1-2 cups.

second: room temp tap water w/ 1 cup lemon juice and 1 cup Baking Soda.

third: hot water (as hot as tap goes)

fourth: cold water (as cold as tap goes)

dipping and swashing the branches of nugs in each vigorously (less vigorously for the cold water) for 30 seconds.

Here's the buckets post-wash:

PC050007.JPG

.... that, is one of the white dusty pillbug looking things I was talking about. A bunch came out from the BBK washing... guys, IF YOU HAVE PEST PROBLEMS, WASH YOUR BUDS!!! that other muck in there, I'm sure comprises of many things including dead mites, their eggs, their webs, their poop, assorted dust and airborne crap, etc... thank Jah for washing. ... here's bucket No. 2, considerably less dirty, but still gross.

PC050004.JPG

... the other buckets are really clean, as they're supposed to be. Just a few hairs and leaves from shaking the buds around.

And to put minds at ease about damaged buds/potency haha, here are the hanging BBK and Euphoria, you guys should recognize the nugs.

PC050009_1.JPG
PC050011.JPG
PC050008.JPG
PC050010.JPG

.... think I still got my fair share of trichomes ;) but with considerably less mite poop and white dust creatures. Go budwashing! :cheer:

Nice clean buds waiting to dry. That's the part that discourages me from bud washing; washing away the trichs...

Wow... interesting, and absolutely sharing some knowledge here. Love It.
All credit for teaching me about washing goes to Radogast > Who learned from Hiker > who learned from DocBud. ;) It's a wonderful chain of info-sharing we have here haha. Thanks though aki!

Thanks Reg, yeah it's a little give and take. DocBud's very gung-ho about washing, I'm considerably less so... keep your grow room clean, prevent any pest problems before they become a problem, and I'd never wash. But its not the trichs I'm worried about...

I really think you lose a lot of the terpenes of your buds in a wash before they have time to develop, and it really changes the taste and takes away a lot of the wonderful odor. Yeah I may have lost up to 5% of trichs washing, and thats a liberal guess, but for me I'd much rather lose those trichs and the terpenes than have to worry about bugs crawling in my buds... but I honestly regret washing my Euphoria from my outdoor harvest, as well as that BBK from the outdoor grow, they never had bug issues, and were very clean for outdoor growing... we had lots of rain, the non-washed samples I left from both chops had more individuality and flavor.... that's where I'd caution people.

Yeah, Conradino23 posted that in his journal once before. I remember because at that time I was on the fence about trying it.
