SoilGirl's Indoor Organic Soil Medical Grow Journal - Mars II 1600 & Other LEDs

see, i always look to deep into things haha. yea may not take 480 min but still on top of the clones i do and the other gardens im part of i realy dont have the time, and its not the "i dont have time to get off the couch" i really dont have time to water like that. but i will attempt it tonight with my 6 mother plants. see how it goes, thanks for taking the time to teach a handicap grower ;)

Ha, yeah no problem. I'm sure you have lifetimes more conventional cannabis gardening knowledge than I do, from the sound of it you have quite a bit going on there. I just question the hell out of the "conventional cannabis gardening information". And I haven't even seen your grow(s) so I'm not sure what you are up to. Many folks have publicly debunked many of the "hydro store canna myths". Things like PH adjusting, CO2 additions, feeding the plants, flushing, etc. Problem I see is that we have all grew up reading high times, got our info on growing weed from Jorge Cervantes and since it's illegal for one and highly profitable for the hydro companies for two, this mindset has endured for a long, long time. I'm not saying anyone is wrong for their method of growing cannabis, but I am saying the masses are grossly misinformed. Don't you want to know what your putting in your "medicine", lol, chemi ferts make no sense for medicine! I hear people all the time saying that the soil I made would be great for veggies, and they ask me which nutrient line I use to feed my weed plants. Lol, it's frustration at times, funny at others. They honestly believe you need bottles of proprietary chemical formulas with fancy cartoon labels. And I honestly believe that couldn't be farther from the truth.

Edit: too bad we can't all pass around a big joint of my meds, you would see why I mulch, and do things a little different than the conventional wisdom says to.

 Sorry to interrupt you guys! :circle-of-love:
Now that I've vaporized a little black bubba... after a very tiring hour or so >.<

Almost Veg Room Update Time!

Argh. Before we get to the pictures... here's the story of my last hour or so, :laughtwo: I think you guys will get a laugh or two out of it.

I went to go take pictures for my veg room update, and... there it was. An open door to the garage. :thedoubletake: The horror... my dad had been in and out of the garage all day and had the door open the whole time. At the same time he had a window in the adjacent laundry room open, as well as the door to the kitchen... and there were flies all over my lights and the yo yo hangers for some reason (and to Gfc's point, some went for the mulch after being shooed off the lights) >.< like a dozen in all. I was obsessed with killing them, like have any of you seen Breaking Bad? With the "contamination" flies in his lab? Yeah that was me, except ill prepared. I killed some with my bare hands.... gross, yeah... but I hate them. The rest I got with towels and, impressively (to me), a squirt bottle... then I'd step on them when they fell out of the air.

... then it happened. My Heisenberg fly. It was the most cunning, devilish, little f***er ever. The last one. I just couldn't get it. Then it landed on one of my mylar curtains and I swung at it and took it off the wall!! :laughtwo: *sighs* .......... I had to do a shoddy repair job. But part of it that had been stapled in ripped and looks even more like crap than it did before >.< .... and Heisenberg fly? I think he followed me to my room for this update just to buzz around my head.

...I hate him. I need fly paper. I'll get him...

uploading pics now.... didn't do RCB yet, does anyone care to see RCB's roots or should I just leave the tape lol?

The Veg Room Update!

No more flies buzzing around thankfully. So I did a little more training, haircutting, and took a couple beautiful topped clones. Here are those, OG Kush PR is the lighter green, Corleone Kush #2 is the darker green. Oh, and I tried Mad Farmer's Root It this time for a change, with the same cloning routine besides. I've heard good things, hopefully it pulls through for these beautiful cuttings. :Namaste:

I took them right off the top of the plants again, hoping to let the lower branches grow out a bit. We'll see how these turn out looking, I think they should do well now that they're at the top.

PC0200071.JPG
PC0200082.JPG

Now here's a look at the plants in training haha. Red Cherry Berry
- got its new lowest nodes trimmed off, or 'lollipopped' and two more wires put on. Oh right, I snapped off a node in that close up pic, you can see it near the center >.< I need to be more gentle.

PC0200052.JPG
PC0200101.JPG

Black Bubba Kush
Got two more wires and some lollipopping as well, but only wires on one main branch. the other main branch almost has a candidate ready for a wire though...
Tomorrow. ;)
PC020004_1.JPG

Corleone Kush #1
2 more wires, and a little haircut. I want these nodes to grow out a bit further, I'll find 3 or 4 more wire candidates, then I'll let it grow.

PC0200022.JPG
PC020003_1.JPG

... and yeah about the moldy leaves, since there was so much discussion about it,
The mold seems to have just died off, it was probably too dry.

This is what they originally looked like.

PC0200012.JPG

RCB has the best, thickest, fluffiest mulch layer of my plants right now (hey maybe that has something to do with its outstanding health) ... so I decided to take a look at it, I knew there were some moldy leaves at the bottom of the mulch. Here's the top of the mulch first.

PC0200042.JPG

Then after I'd lifted about an inch in a corner up a bit.

PC0200032.JPG

... wait I thought I had a pic of a leaf I pulled out.. I swear I did... well whatever. Oh crap I think I uploaded it wrong lol... :lot-o-toke: I'll just tell you what was in that pic haha. The mold had dried up and you could just tell where it was on the leaf, like dust ... maybe I'll find that pic now lol.

:ciao:

Edit: Here's that pic, you can see where the mold was, but the leaf wasn't all the way at the bottom either. It hasn't broken down really at all, but I crumbled it up afterwards into the mulch. I figured I could upload it with the rest of my update since its on the topic of growing cannabis but meh, I suppose it doesn't look good in the plants gallery. Lol. Sorry for adding to the workload for our 420 mods! Love ya!

PC0200092.JPG

Now its time to go have a joint with Corgie!! Party in the mountains, who wants to come? :yahoo: :slide: It's about time you're MOTM!

Hmm.. that wasn't really a full veg room update after all. Ghost OG, Diesel, and Blue Blood were left out. I'll put some pics of them up tomorrow or the next day... which is actually my birthday :rollit: .. and chop time is coming for the flowering plants too... maybe even on thursday lol.

:volcano-smiley:

Thank you everyone for interesting info & opinions on these recent pages. Grower knowledge & talent obvious. I found myself leaning towards Gfc's views for indoor growing. Outdoor & indoors are totally different environments to me. I've learned I control not that much outside but my premise inside is that I could control a lot more.

Clean surroundings is an example. So no mulch inside even though I've always mulched outside. No shoes in grow room, no re-use of dirt or pots. Change of clothes after visiting hydro store. Never any clones from another garden. (laughing yet?) Just to avoid as much outside influence as possible.

I can control plant size so set target size, select corresponding pot size, fim to promote node sets but no other training, no transplanting. Training & transplanting are at least somewhat stressful imo, so I avoid to reduce plant stress. I know this is starting to sound a little sterile, but behind all this, it is still a completely organic grow. LOL at myself. I like SG's & COorganics style very much & they know their stuff, but I don't want to replicate what goes on outdoors inside. Each has its own good & bad features.:Namaste:

i didnt learn from high times or jorge cervantes. i actually was just gifted jorge grow bible on my bday this last may by the head volunteer here at the shop. as of high times, i still have yet to get that magazine ordered but i have been wanting to.

i grew up growing in my grandmas garden was a giant id have to say 20x30 if not bigger. i stoped this when i was 9 when she passed away. i believe she is the reason i have strong ties to wanting to be organic. my milk and everything else in my fridge says organic, weather it really is or not (if you watch the documentary i watched the other night, apparently the fish in the mtns eat gmo food) so nothing is really organic anymore. even the trees we plant in yards bought from stores or planted at universitys are gmo and those seeds and nuts get eatn by squirrels that get eatn by whatever and end up somehow on our plates.;)

i do always try and better myself, as well as my garden. so i have taken the information from both you and soil girl very serious, and plan on building off of it.

i have helped grow a 100% "organic" garden last year, in raised beds. the compost was cooked for 3 years, the hippie that was in charge of this, had 6 compost bins, he had different stages and setups for each bin, he was in charge of that, i just watched.

he did grow some decent plants that and huge heirloom tomatoes, but the taste was not what i would expect.

you could argue this guy didnt know what he was doing, but he lived on communes (believe i spelt that right) and he lives and breaths composting and organic.. so im positive he knew what he was doing.

i compare it to the kale i grew this year, first time growing kale. i loved kale from the store organic section. was great tasting and had more life then the iceburg garbage. well when i grew my own kale i had the option to use his organic compost or make my own blended soil and add nutrients through its life, even though i know it could manage with just rain water and soil. i had the mindset, if im going to smoke plants with the nutes, why wouldnt i eat them too?

the kale picked fresh from the garden has been mine and my fiances fav of all time. you can mix it with steak and mashedpotatoes as a side salad and the kale will over power the rest.

i try and grow with nutrients im not affraid to eat. but i deffinetly wont be buying no 30$ one jug fixes all. my fiance lost her breath when i said i spent 144$ on a 250ml bottle of one of my nutes ha.

put good in, get good out.

when it comes to next summer, ill try your crazy mulchness outside

but i will be trying it

man that sounds like the worst, in the mtns to how cold did it get in there?? i know my front door has been frozen everytime it gets shut, guess thats the down side of having a metal ddoor in the mtns. but its secure haha.

do you have any sticky traps you can put up for the flys? you can make a sugar water trap if not.. they are fairly easy to make up.

I&i

Edit : i say fairly cause ive never made one, just watched the fiance throw them together ha

It gets down to -30,-40 at times in my driveway. Bitter cold. Last winter was bad. The wife and I also cover our bed in a thick layer of pill bug mulch and cozy in on cold winter nights. :)
Summer is heaven on earth though.

Happy bday in advance! Mold, schmold, lol. Looks like it is all good.

I'm glad you enjoyed the convo here as much as I have :) and I totally respect the way you do things inside and out.. no laughs haha. your plants speak for themselves. I only can hope my own plants try to take after yours in time. Thank you for sharing bright!

Oh actually, I don't even live in the mountains haha. and my garage is a heated garage, it has 2 A/C vents that are always running, so it never gets insanely nippy in there as long as the heats on. And my blankets covering the garage door sure help with insulation, but I'm running an extra heater anyways. Lately its been hovering around 70 at nights and 80 during the day in there.

Hahaha I'm still laughing about getting powned by the Heisenberg fly. Ugh LOL. I'll get him though. Thanks for the idea! I'll look those up if things get bad again haha, but for now all is quiet and warm again in the grow room. :Namaste:
