Re: Blue Planet Nutrients-Soil-Hydro-2400w Led-2000w Hps-8 Strains-1 GPW+
Thanks for that Jon. I was already pretty set on making flowering room 2 LED, this just furthered the case. It will take a few crops until I can afford $6k for the lights though. I've got some ideas to make the transition smoother/cheaper. +rep if it let's me
How do you support your plants Cult? Can't say I've seen you mention that.
Hi Fied, #1- so far this is my third round with these lights and theres no comparison, the nugs are a bit smaller but much denser( an oz of led grown will look smaller than an oz of hps grown) #2 heres an expample, right now I have a 10 000btu portable ac running in my room set at 77 degrees,at that setting it keeps the room around 82 degrees. last night it got cold outside so my hps started fogging up from the condensation so I shut the fan off for the hps ductwork. within an hr the temps shot up to 90 degrees so I had to turn it back on. leds disperse they're heat out of all sides of the panel instead of straight down at the plants, theres practically no heat 5 inches under the led's, it makes it alot easier for the a/c and circulation fans to deal with it.so the 2 hps create a ton more heat than my 4 600w leds.#3 my lights cost me 1500 bucks a pop. I know everybody shies away when they here that but if you factor in the cost of extra ducting extra fans, vented hoods, bulbs every 3 grows(10 000 hrs before you have to worry about changing diodes, thats 10 years of growing) and the almighty hydro bill the cost isnt that much more per light. I ran 4 1000w hps in the same room before I switched and with the led's running full power I save right around $270 a month on my bill, so just on the hydro savings alone the lights pay themselves off in 2 years, factor in all the rest and its alot quicker than that.most quality led's will have power settings for different stages of growth, right now my led's are covering an 8 x 8 area and they are drawing 1200 watts total, thats pretty freaking low consumption to affectively veg an area that big. theres 4 settings, setting #1 is for seedlings(each light only draws 150w. setting #2 is full veg(300w per light) setting #3 early flower(450w per light) and setting #4 is full flower(595w per light) so if your running led's for the whole show the savings are substantial.if and when you decide to switch, make sure you do your homework, if the deal sounds to good to be true IT IS! you get what you pay for when it comes to these lights bro, hope this helps
