Soil - Hydro - 2400w Led - 2000w HPS - 8 Strains - 1 GPW+

Re: Blue Planet Nutrients-Soil-Hydro-2400w Led-2000w Hps-8 Strains-1 GPW+

The over protective daddy. I had the same thing happen last week with my root scare. I've been monitoring both sides of my plants now, and everything was probably fine the whole time. If only we could just let them ride a bit when we see them looking less than 110%!

they looked like they were dying bro, the chernobyl almost did. Ive never seen plants turn from the epitome of health to on the verge of death that quickly ever, I thought I had lost the crop for sure. when my girls look that bad theres no way I could just sit back and hope for the best lol...I didnt sleep until I saw they were going to recover:)

I know the feeling jon, have had to turn around and 180 my whole plan due to the unexpected. Being able to figure out what happened and do something about shows you have what it takes to tackle any problem that might arise, lets all hope thats it for a long while:)
Just like when a parents kid gets sick in the middle of the night suddenly your not tired anymore or worried about anything else, just to get the kid doing better at all cost.

Re: Blue Planet Nutrients-Soil-Hydro-2400w Led-2000w Hps-8 Strains-1 GPW+

it was DD, the red can, I let the whole can go in a 5 x 10 room. The plant that was closest to it is by far the worst looking plant in the room, I dont think that is a coincedence. The soil plants didnt look anywhere near as bad,I wonder if it got into the res, it has a cover but who knows maybe that has something to do with it. all I know is Ill never use them again with plants in the room. The girls are still on the mend, funny thing is the girls under the led's are completely back to normal and the ones under the hps look at least a few days behind in recovery.Another checkmark for led's?

i found out the hard way you can't always trust those hydro store guys:Namaste:

Re: Blue Planet Nutrients-Soil-Hydro-2400w Led-2000w Hps-8 Strains-1 GPW+

That's sweet that everythings going better for you bro:high-five:

Yeah the red can is the most concentrated/synthetic bomb from their line. One of the big kahunas around here said he only uses the red one when he gets hit hard with an infestation, but uses the metred release bomb on the reg with no problems.

Glad it's all turning around tho man that's all that matters :bravo:

Re: Blue Planet Nutrients-Soil-Hydro-2400w Led-2000w Hps-8 Strains-1 GPW+

Hi Doc, check out the second link in my sig it shows the veg room. All it is is a 4 x 4 flood and drain table with a 45 gallon res underneath with a couple of airstones and a pump. I veg with a 400w metal halide. I use 5.5 inch net pots and clay pellets for medium.hope this helps:)
Definitely helps! Do you just have the pumps on timers or do you have some other means of getting floods to stop. Can't seem to figure that part out.

Re: Blue Planet Nutrients-Soil-Hydro-2400w Led-2000w Hps-8 Strains-1 GPW+

Jon,

Can you or other experienced LED growers please elaborate on some things for me: 1. The difference in bud density of comparable LED vs. HPS? 2. The difference in heat produced by comparable LED / HPS units? 3. The costs of the LED units that would be comparable to 600 and 1000 watt HPS units? The reason I'm asking is because I have no experience with LED's but am toying with the idea of moving to them.

I'm enjoying your grow show. Thank you in advance.

Re: Blue Planet Nutrients-Soil-Hydro-2400w Led-2000w Hps-8 Strains-1 GPW+

Hi Fied, #1- so far this is my third round with these lights and theres no comparison, the nugs are a bit smaller but much denser( an oz of led grown will look smaller than an oz of hps grown) #2 heres an expample, right now I have a 10 000btu portable ac running in my room set at 77 degrees,at that setting it keeps the room around 82 degrees. last night it got cold outside so my hps started fogging up from the condensation so I shut the fan off for the hps ductwork. within an hr the temps shot up to 90 degrees so I had to turn it back on. leds disperse they're heat out of all sides of the panel instead of straight down at the plants, theres practically no heat 5 inches under the led's, it makes it alot easier for the a/c and circulation fans to deal with it.so the 2 hps create a ton more heat than my 4 600w leds.#3 my lights cost me 1500 bucks a pop. I know everybody shies away when they here that but if you factor in the cost of extra ducting extra fans, vented hoods, bulbs every 3 grows(10 000 hrs before you have to worry about changing diodes, thats 10 years of growing) and the almighty hydro bill the cost isnt that much more per light. I ran 4 1000w hps in the same room before I switched and with the led's running full power I save right around $270 a month on my bill, so just on the hydro savings alone the lights pay themselves off in 2 years, factor in all the rest and its alot quicker than that.most quality led's will have power settings for different stages of growth, right now my led's are covering an 8 x 8 area and they are drawing 1200 watts total, thats pretty freaking low consumption to affectively veg an area that big. theres 4 settings, setting #1 is for seedlings(each light only draws 150w. setting #2 is full veg(300w per light) setting #3 early flower(450w per light) and setting #4 is full flower(595w per light) so if your running led's for the whole show the savings are substantial.if and when you decide to switch, make sure you do your homework, if the deal sounds to good to be true IT IS! you get what you pay for when it comes to these lights bro, hope this helps:)

Thank you for the feedback! This is certainly eye opening. I'm all about less heat and less electricity consumption! I am going to PM you soon with a few, more specific questions. Thanks again my friend.

+reps!

hey jon i was wondering if you can tell me your strategy when trainning plants into the scrog screen.
thanks for all the help:thanks:

Re: Blue Planet Nutrients-Soil-Hydro-2400w Led-2000w Hps-8 Strains-1 GPW+

I dont really do any training into the screen bro, all my training happens in the veg room. by the time the girls make it into the big room they already have 60-100 main tops. I just place each branch into its designated square in the screen let them grow a couple of inches paste the screen and flip.My scrog style was not the traditional style of keeping the plants under the screen until the screen was 70 % full.the screen was more to create an even space in between branches for airflow and for support:)

thanks jon, do you use the screen to help get the tops even before the flip:thanks:

Re: Blue Planet Nutrients-Soil-Hydro-2400w Led-2000w Hps-8 Strains-1 GPW+

I didnt but most scroggers do, I figured out a tecnique to create an even canopy without a screen bro, did you see the last update I did in the first part of this journal(second link in my sig)? it doesnt get much more even a canopy than that. If I was using the screen again this round I would of had 2 more rounds of topping to get the desired amount of main branches. I guess I kinda created a sog style grow with a quarter of the plants and a screen to keep them where I want them:).Its all about timing, it took a bit to figure when to take clones for the next round and minimize veg time in the flower room. I took clones a few days before I flipped to 12/12, this gave me around 10 weeks veg time. I would be in flower right now if this shit with the bug bombs didnt happen.:)
