SOGgy Daze Ahead For Mr. Krip!

How much moisture do those new "pucks" soak up? They look like they would be good for thinner stems, I am also thinking that roots will actually form inside them as well as below.

Steve...my thoughts EXACTLY! Good for thinner, and shorter, stems since the roots can grow right through the medium with no issues.

The STG medium is "non-wicking" but, it does hold quite a bit of water. So, the tops of the pucks are always dry and the bottoms are always wet.

Perhaps the three of us and a few more could buy a neighborhood and create our own Emerald Triangle :woohoo::yummy::party::headbanger:

Make that 4.:high-five:

A Triangle in Hawaii? I'm in! We'll call it the "Ono Triangle" or in English "The Good Triangle".

Buying a neighborhood is OK too!:circle-of-love:

Good work on the chart. When having one the grow is getting serious! Your PE 2L are looking mighty. Just transplanted the mother plant into a 3 gal hempy bucket for clone production. I'm looking to add more PE to the 2L since seeing how dense and frosty it came out for this run using 2L coco with BPN! I can't believe it. Also the weather has been really cold so that is another factor. Looking forward to next week bud porn on your PE!

I'll have to pick you n OMM's brains someday about the spreadsheets. I dont need one ATM, but someday I will. I have a certificate somewhere that says I'm qualified to use excel....It lies....I used to know how, but apparently its not like riding a bike lol...

This is completely unrelated to anything but you know what isn't like riding a bike? Rolling blades. Seriously I used to blade when I was younger and stopped for like 8 years and tried again. It wasn't the greatest idea in the world. Long story short, bruised tailbones hurt like hell.

Thanks, Twelve! The spreadsheet is definately helping! :thumb:

I've really been enjoying the PE. I don't know if it's the strain, or the pheno I got, or just some luck, but it's potent and tasty. I've just broken into the "Primo Bud" jar from the last harvest. It's been curing for just over a month now, and it is some really good herb! :yummy:

I've been thinking of switching to BPN soon and seeing how the organics do, since I've seen such good results from them on some other grows. I've just been trying to use up some of the other nutes I have first, so I don't have three different bottles of, for example, grow formula open. One from GH, one from AN, and another from BPN. :)

Bud Porn is forthcoming!

BUCKLE UP FOR A LONG UPDATE!

It's been a tough week which ended with friends coming in for the weekend, so I haven't had too much time to update this week. Hopefully, this post will make up for any updates I may have missed!

First, I want to extend sympathies and best wishes to our good friend, OMM. For anyone that doesn't know yet, he had tried moving his grow back outdoors and was ripped off again by thieves. He still has a few plants left, but we all know how we would feel if it happened to us and it sucks that anyone would do that, especially to some one who's as good a person as OMM. We're all with you, Bro! :cheer:

OK...for grow updates, here's what's going on...

Here are the five Lucy clones that got put into the TK over the course of the last 9 days, or so:

I've started using frozen water bottles to help keep temps down in the res. I really didn't want to do it, but I did notice, that towards the middle of the week, temps were getting a little high. So, I just switch 'em out a couple times a day right now to be safe.

The only Lucy cutting showing roots, so far, is one that was put taken two days after the first one:

DSCN13511.JPG

The first Lucy clone that went in was originally in a neoprene and was somewhat shorter, so hopefully it will still root and the fact that it hasn't yet is just because the clone taken two days later was bigger & healthier.

Here's a group shot of the three new Bonsai moms, all of which have now been moved to 2L hempys. They're still in training, but I think I can now refer to them as "Bonsais":

DSCN13552.JPG

The Pineapple Express Bonsai has recovered well from whatever was bothering her last week, and I've got her LST'd pretty heavily:

DSCN13541.JPG

The Power Skunk Bonsai has extremely thick branches. So much so, I've been contemplating how she'll even clone. Any one of the available cuttings, if taken to be over 2" or so, would have a stalk that was close to the thickness of a pencil! I am gonna let her grow out a little more before I try taking any more clones from her, though:

DSCN13523.JPG

And, the Lucy Bonsai is just doing spectacular! Even after giving up another 5 clones last week, she's filling back in very nicely, and the number of tops I'm getting from her is staggering! The last topping I did, on 1/4 of the 4-cola UBT topping, is resulting in 6 tops! So, assuming I let them all grow out, which I won't, she would have something like 16 tops or more! It also means, if you could UBT, then top each of the four quadrants the same way, you could get a plant with 24 tops! It will be tough to make out all six of the new tops, but they're in the bottom section of the pic:

DSCN13532.JPG

In the flower tent, I still have the same 13 plants, and I haven't added anything new now since 10/29, so I'm getting anxious to get some more plants in there.

I've been feeding the heavily, adding about 10% more grow/micro/bloom that I normally do in week 4+, and I've been adding 50% more Big Bud and Bud Candy. All the plants seem to be taking the higher PPM's without too much of an issue, but a couple do show some very slight nute burn on the tip. Not enough to make me cut back the nutes, though!

Here's the first seven girls in flower which have now been in 12/12 for 36 days and will get their second defoliation next weekend, plus two more PE's that are now 22 days into 12/12 and just got their first defoliation this morning:

DSCN1357.JPG

And, here are four more plants that range from 15-19 days of 12/12:

DSCN1358.JPG

Last week, I added the 180w LED to the flower tent to supplement the 500w. The three plants on the right in the above pic are exactly where the cross-lighting is and there's a nice straight line of bleeching on the leaves that are getting hit from both lights. Again, nothing too severe, and those leaves will be defoliated soon anyways, but it does show the power of having additional lighting.

Here's the Power Skunk that's at 36 days out for a short photo shoot:

DSCN13591.JPG

Here buds are nice and dense and she now has some very nice trich coverage. Here's the top cola:

DSCN13602.JPG

And, here's a couple of lower buds:

DSCN13634.JPG

And, another top cola shot:

DSCN13621.JPG

The PE's are forming some nice fat colas, and here's one at 36 days:

So, the plans from here are to get one more Bonsai mom for each strain. Technically I still have the "original" PE Bonsai mom that's still in a 16oz. hempy, but as I get better with Bonsai's, she'll get replaced. Then, I'll have some redundancy, so if I lose a plant, I won't lose the strain. And, I'll have more moms from which to take clones.

I can definately see it would have been much better to have been all set with moms before starting the SOG, but I think I have enough in the works to keep me happy until the mom situation is straightened out.

Happy Harvests!

Hey Mr. Krip,
Got a question for you kind sir. I am wondering how many generations from seed your mother is? If it is a couple generations from seed, did u notice a change in bud formation between each generation? Any info into these questions will be helpful from anyone in the crowd. Thanks in advance to anyone who answers.

Hey, Kotton! The Lucy and Power Skunk bonsai moms are first generation, raised directly from seed. I actually have two PE bonsais. The first one is a 3rd generation clone and the one you see in the 2L with the LST is a 4th generation.

There is no real notable difference, and here's my opinion on this...

Clones are genetic replicas of the moms, so there is NO difference between generations that aren't somehow environmentally related. As long as the plant doesn't contract some sort of disease, you should be able to keep the same mother plant for years, or clone for dozens of generations, with no great variance from the original plant, other than differences caused by nutes, light, etc.

NOTHIN' BUT POWER SKUNK!

I did the first defoliation on the Lucy and another one of the PE's today. While I was in the tent, I couldn't help admiring the buds on the Power Skunk...perhaps because I've been looking at nothing but PE buds for the last 6 months, or so? :)

The buds on the Power Skunk are really looking nice, frosty, and as dense as rocks!

So, I took her out again for a few bud shots:

She smells real nice, but not as "skunky" as I expected - more "piney" right now. There's still about 32 days to harvest, so we'll see how she develops, but out of the 13 plants in flower now, there's only one Lucy and two Power Skunk, so both of those strains will nice "treats" if they finish well! :yummy:

Happy Harvests!
