Slammy Pajammy's Indoor Organic Supersoil Ladies, 2019! 2nd Ever!

They look absolutely delicious!
:meatballs:
Hey there are free apps that you can use to magnify - get up close and personal with your little trichome forests  (app store: Magniscope is one I know works)

Quick Update (52F):

Temp: 13-26 degrees Celsius

RH: 33-40%

Finally got the scope!! they are looking so close... might just leave them a littleeee bit longer to make sure no clear trichs are left... but they look so good! :'o the camera doesn't get quite as close as looking through it, but there's so many cloudy trichs! Beautiful!

GSC#2 (Day 22)
WW#2 (Day 12)

whoops... probably could've watered GSC#2 yesterday. She's looking quite sad today. But that's alright, she's tough! Gotta make those roots go reaching and chasing for that water. WW#2 is starting to fill out a little more!

Just cranked lights up a little more to about 80% or so.

Got about 2/3 of a litre into GSC#2 to get her pot feeling nice and heavy again. Keep drinking and sending those roots! Will be almost time for you to start stretching your feet in the cab!

GSC#2 (Day 25)
WW#2 (Day 15)

Temp: 13-27
RH: 33-39%

Got home too late to get into the flower cab today, so here's a veg update!

I totally forgot to do updates over the weekend, but they were both ready for a little water tonight. Roots are looking good on WW#2, and GSC#2 is going to be so ready to go in the cab!

Got another just over 2/3L into that soil and got her nice and heavy again

Cranked lights up to 100% all spectrums, I may have to lower the plants so they're a little farther away, at the moment they're only about 450mm away from the top of GSC#2, so if she's stressing I'll turn the lights down and let her relax a bit

Girl Scout Cookie Harvest Day! (Day 59F)

Well, it happened! She was starting to amber up, and I'd been meaning to get to it for a few days, so even though it was like 9:00 pm before I got to it Friday night, I still went ahead and committed to staying up all the way through the process. I was so excited anyway! What a mementous occasion!

I can't seem to post pics at the moment, so I'll have to include those later, but it was a pretty satisfying experience! She chopped for a little over 335 grams trimmed up and without any big stems, so I'm hoping to get about 3 oz dry once she's all dried up in the fridge! Plus about 27 grams of small or larfy stuff that i kept in a separate jar.

I basically chopped into big long sticks and washed according to the method linked in my sig; baking soda and lemon juice diluted into a bucket of water, and two water rinses, followed by a 4 hour drip dry. At first I was worried I should've chopped the fans off first, but they were definitely sufficiently drip dried after 4 hours. Awesome!

I trimmed up the big beautiful colas into small manageable chunks, trimming off any leaf material that wasn't glistening but leaving sugar leaves for a final trim after drying but before curing. I then weighed them before distributing them up into jars. I would've gone out and got some paper bags to put them in, if i had've planned better and not run out of money haha. But that's ok, I had literally JUST ENOUGH jars to fit everything very loosely.

My fridge sits about 7 degrees Celsius, and likes to drop to 13% RH, but I could get it up to about 45% by opening the door for like 10-15 seconds or so in testing before putting the buds in, so I'll just do that a couple times a day. It's the dedicated pot fridge, so no issues monitoring it and babying it. Gotta get this part right if I want beautiful delicious smoke!

I'm expecting it to take at least about 2 weeks drying in the fridge, so i might let it come to temp after a week or so and double check humidity, just to be sure it's still up where I want it to be, then drop them back and start rechecking after 2 weeks. They smell so delicious and fruity and spicy  . And such a satisfying experience watching them go from scraggly fan leaf-riddled fresh flower to a carefully manicured bud, even if it did take me from like 1:30-5:00 Haha. But still worth it! Can't WAIT till she's had a chance to cure a bit :')

Nope didn't work. Haha I'll have to figure out what's going on before I can start updating pics! In the meantime, everything is drying nice and slow and beautiful. I chopped the Widow two days later on 61F, and got everything put into paper bags in my fridge, which has been sitting around 7 degrees Celsius still, and maintaining a humidity of 45-60% with a bunch of buds in there. I got another 299 grams wet off the white widow, although there are some weird seed pod looking things on most of the colas which make me suspect a herm I missed or something? I'm just very surprised that this is so covered in these, and the girl scout which was sitting next to it the entire flower cycle, had nothing at all that looks like seed pods or any sign of pollination? Guess we'll see after the dry..

I've got two big test nugs, one of each strain, in the dehydrator at the moment to see how she turns out. It's set at about 32 degrees Celsius, and they have been there about 27 hours now, still looking pretty delicious. I might check them at about 36 and see what humidity they are, if they still need time we'll put them back in, otherwise if they are below 68%, I'll try a technique shared by @InTheShed of using Some Rice Balls to lower the humidity until they are more stable around 62%.

The fridge ones have only been in there in the bags since Sunday night, so being Wednesday afternoon now, around the 3 day mark, i gave them a little jostle to make sure they weren't getting stuck to each other, or looking bad in any way. None of the bags are too wet or anything. They seem to look good! I might check again around day 6, and then try to leave them through most of the second week until i pull them out and check humidity. Same story, shooting for 68% or below, to settle around 62%. I can't wait!! :yahoo:

So the two little plantling gals are both doing alright, veryy ready for a potting up, but I'd like to remineralise my soil a little first.

I have some amendments I wana work through my main soil mass, mainly;
-basalt and palagonite rock dust
-volcanic rock dust
-azomite
-coconut meal
-kelp meal
-alfalfa meal
-crustacean calcium blend

Just to boost the soil a bit so that it should be good for a long time yet. It still should definitely have enough to carry them probably through another cycle, but I don't really know exactly what ratios of what amendments went into that original supersoil mix, so I'm going to start using my observations as I go, to hopefully start learning exactly how to craft the right soil mixes to grow beautiful flowers fed only on water and compost tea

Anyway, gotta stop babbling... smoked a small larfy bud of the widow quick-dried by slowly flipping a foil-wrapped sachet over and over while carefully bringing the plates together on my little panini press, until she was just dry enough to break apart. Worked pretty well! I'm sure it's nothing like what it will be like dried correctly, but it definitely packs a punch!

There I go again... So my two large test nugs in the dehydrator got left in there, flipped every 12 hours or so, for 46 hours, before being jarred up with a hygro. Both climbed to 80% within about 2-3 hours, so... back in the dehydrator they went for another 5 hours. Just jarred them up again an hour and a half ago, and they are sitting currently at 67% and 68%! They'll probably climb some more as I sleep for the next 7 hours, but that'll give me the chance to see where they're well and truly at, and develop a game plan.

They look AMAZING! :adore: I cannot WAIT to see what kind of smells and tastes await me in the cure

I've also thrown a batch of smaller, more broken up bud in the dehydrator to get a feel for how size will affect the dry in there, planning to flip the ones that are big enough every 12 hours, then check in jars at 36 or 40, and go from there.

Meanwhile, about 90% of the harvest is sitting mostly in bags, and two small test jars in the fridge. Fridge consistently sits between 6-8 degrees Celsius, RH usually sits 40-50%. Tomorrow night will be one week for the girl scout, but still only about 5 days since going into bags, so tomorrow night I will give them another jostle and check them closely ocularly, then try to leave them alone for at least another like, week and a half. But damn does it ever smell beautiful in there

Hey man congrats on the harvest the buds look fire u need to fix the picture thing I need to see those. Keep it up man killin it over there!

Thanks a lot, mate!! Yea I'm so sad! I've tried on my phone, my computer, WiFi, cell data, it always gets about 15% into upload and then errors out :'(. And I have a back-log of so many good pics!

Update on the dehydrator; the big buds that got left out all night settled at about 75% humidity in the jars, so we are definitely getting there! I've got them back in the dehydrator for another probably 5 hours or so, and we'll pull them and check again!

Then I potted up both of these ladies on Friday evening, because they were soaking up their soil pretty well. I used about 30L of my reamended soil mix per fabric pot, and plopped them in, with a little watering around the original rootball afterwards, then put them in the cab under 24h light cranked to about 30% nice and high above the canopy

The White Widow is still quite a ways behind the girl scout cookie, who is just exploding like crazy... it'd be a shame if it just happens to be a male or something and that's why it's growing so fast hahaha. Only time will tell

As for the drying ones, we had some small buds that had been in the dehydrator for like 24h, and the big buds that had gotten an extra 4h again, then Friday night we left to head up to Sydney to visit a good friend before he moves to Queensland. So I shut down the dehydrator and jarred everything up with hygros, but left the lids off as they were all still a little wet. Then hoped they wouldn't be too dry in the 45% humidity of the kitchen by the time we got back

So we came back Sunday morning around 11, so the buds were jarred and open for about 41 hours. RH was reading 54-56% so I closed them up to pull some more inner moisture out to rehydrate the buds.

After twelve hours sealed up, the two big single nugs had crept to 61% and 63%. Beauty!

The bigger jar of smaller nugs was up to 67%, so I opened it and lay it on its side for a few minutes until it read 61%, then sealed back up. It still crept back to 63% reasonably quickly, so I suspect she may need some rice or another burp by morning time if she's still got too much moisture. But for now, we just might be entering curing territory for the dehydrator test nugs!! So I'll watch the humidity and try to keep it stable around the 62% mark for at least the next 2-4 weeks, and then we'll give it a try!

Fridge stuff should be ready in the next 1-2 weeks. I replaced a lot of the bags this morning when we got home as they were feeling slightly damp. Everything looks and smells amazing though.

So next Thursday or so I'll check them and make sure they're not sticking to each other, then later next weekend maybe let them come up to temp and check sealed jar RH and see where they're at! That should give me an idea on how soon to expect them to be in the 62% range. I'm hoping I'll have the self control to try leaving some for long-term curing to see how like 6+ months compares to 1. But we'll have to see about that... haha

Looks like pics are fixed! So I'll try to slowly catch up on some of the key points so far!

I love what you are doing! You are well on your way to a supersoil here, but I do see some important omissions. Please, just for grin's sake, compare your list with this recipe for SubCool's supersoil. Although your mix is very good and minerally rich in some areas, other things need to be at least considered, namely the epsom salt for magnesium, dolomite for the upper end buffer as well as its minerals, and a wee bit of humic acid to get it all turning into soil instead of just decomposing.
:peace:
1/8 Recipe - SubCool's Supersoil
1 large bags of a high-quality organic potting soil with coco fiber and mycorrhizae (i.e., your base soil)
3.125 to 6.25 lbs of organic worm castings
.625 lbs or 5/8 lbs or 10 ounces steamed bone meal
.625 lbs or 5/8 lbs or 10 ounces bloom bat guano
.625 lbs or 5/8 lbs or 10 ounces blood meal
3/8 lbs or 6 ounces rock phosphate
3/32 cup or 1.5 tablespoons Epsom Salts
1/16 cup or 1 tablespoon sweet lime (dolomite)
1/16 cup or 1 tablespoon azomite (trace elements)
3/4 teaspoon powdered humic acid

Awesome, thanks Em!! I held back on the lime because I wanted to use the soil without much cooking time and was worried it might be too hot for the short term, but I'll add some back into the excess mix. Would it be worth topdressing a small amount of lime to the fabric pots? That's the only way I could think of getting any actually into the pots now that they're planted into them.

I'll get my hands on some epsom salts and humic acid as well, and hopefully I can effectively get them into the pot after the fact. (I think I was reading that you can water in humic acid?)

Thanks for your input!! :thumb: you and the others on this forum are entirely to blame for my first harvest going so swimmingly! And it can only get better from here!!
