Question for the coco users ;)

First time for me, the original plan is two 2 1/2 gallon fabric bags. Advertised as 3's but Not...

Considering adding a perlite reservoir later if they require more water/day ?

A tray large enough for a gallon of water and enough perlite to cover,

High enough to have a drain hole so I can kind of water to run off. Just set the bag(s) on them....

I mixed 4 parts coco to 1 part perlite.

Golden Tiger and I decided to quit dithering about adding more coco and go for it :bongrip:

But, I find I have enough coco to do one or even two of my 5 gallon pails/GroBuckets :yahoo:

What ratio of coco to perlite are you using for SIP's ?

Cheers

I'm not a coco grower, but I do add a lot to my SIP mix...

Azi says 30-40% perlite, but I think he's talking about a soil grow. I'm using 1/3 compost soil, 1/3 worm castings, and 1/3 coco coir, with 2 gal of perlite in my SIP (first time SIP grow), plus ferts. That's my main mix, and then I use a different mix for the reservoir area (first 5" from bottom of bucket), which is 1/3 main mix, 1/3 coir, and 1/3 perlite.

My sense is that if you're using a lot of coco, then there's plenty of aeration, so not as much perlite is needed.

Thanks @cbdhemp808 !

Have been running ProMix HP straight out of the bale with Mega Crop one part.......

And how is that stuff? as I saw there's one growshop importing it here now, 70l bags Promix HP + myco bacillus.
Almost 40 euro a bag.
But it's also not really soil as it's mostly moss.
I wanted to get a real bio soil mix but they only had a small bag left in stock.
So I ended up with the Plagron Royalmix which is also mostly sphagnum & worm humus, guano, perlite, aspergillus and bio-osmo live bacteria, various vitamins and microelement.
And I'll be adding more Endos Ectos & Tricos with the Great White.

The Promix however seems to be very light? only nutrients for days? so that you can quickly move to a feeding schedule I guess. As the promix from Plagron is non ferted and also meant to instantly use with your own fert application.
The royalmix is like 6 weeks perfect for me I can take it easy.

And here's hoping that Greenleaf gets their German vat number by the end of the year so the can send some pallets MC into Europe.

Correct, ProMIx HP is soilless and contains 0 nutrients. This means you have total control over the feed.

And it is ph buffered. It is also approved for organic use.
But it's also not really soil as it's mostly moss.
Plagron Royalmix also contains mostly peat moss but it also contains time release nutrients. And it is too hot for seedlings without being washed ! And that removes some of the nutrients !

The issue I have with that type of product is the grower has to figure out when those nutrients run out and to begin fertilizing.

Can't help with that but it sounds like a plan ;)

I start right away with 1g/gallon of Mega Crop one part.

Your Plagron Royalmix is good for six weeks but you need to start applying nutrients two weeks before that so they become available at six weeks.
As the promix from Plagron is non ferted and also meant to instantly use with your own fert application.

LOL

I hope so too, its my first choice, easy to use and inexpensive compared to the other two lines I've tried !

What you'll see, I'll be watering that seedling area one time, and then I will fill the reservoir probably day 14 or so, and with a young plant the res lasts 14 days. That's like two actions for the first month, I find that taking it easy, I mean there's people drip feeding each day adjusting the dose as the seedling grows. So compared to that I'm on easystreet 😆

And I also sprinkled the last of the Bionova profimix I had in the soil, it's a light dose but it's time released pellets for 10-11 weeks.
So I'm kinda planning on not feeding for a long stretch.. And I'll probably start adding some flower nutes during stretch. although I haven't used the myco before... If the roots now bulk up and are able to move a lot more nutrients.. up to x00% as some products claim :) yeah then I'll be depleted a lot sooner.

Yeah the seedling area soil is rinsed through and combined with old soil & lots of layers of perlite.
But the Promix HP soil here doesn't say 0 nutrients, it says nutrients for 7 to 10 days and a pretty high npk ratio 14-16-18. ?

Great selections, Chuck. Nice looking seedlings, too. Should be a great harvest! Happy Smokin'
