Hey folks , 2nd run using SIPs going much better thanks to all the information gathered in this lobby. I have 5 Tropicana cookies fast flower in week 3 ..
I wanted to experiment with coco worm castings 70/30 ratio , also amending according to manufacturers of the amendments. 3 of the 5 are in SIPs , and have very much out performing the 2 in pots . Next run it will be 4 for my 4x4, ..I think it will be better. I have my light set at 65%, it’s mar hydro 6500e. 1 for f the plants in the SIPS is sick, other 4 are fine. Just curious what yous think it might be. Unfortunately my RH is very high do this stage.. in the 70s, gave food defol to help with air movement.

I’m too drawing every 2 weeks , in between giving silica , cal/mag one watering , then pure water next watering , then next water they get seaweed extract. Then pure water. Then fish shit. And I repeat that cycle. I’m hearing some stop feeding silica during flower, why is that ?

I’ve read conflicting reviews about using silicate in flower.
One person said it reduced thc production.
I’ve also talked to experienced growers who say they use it weekly at 300 ppm until harvest.
I find it beneficial for holding up huge colas on otherwise limp branches.
I’ve started using it again in flower and haven’t found any lack in potency.
It’s beneficial for me as I never scrog and need the support.
Just 2 cents.
Your garden looks awesome.

Lookin' good! Maybe a wee bit of deficiency... N, K, Mg, Fe? Newer growth is a bit pale.

Comparison grow journal started!

Thanks for the feedback guys. Appreciate it, considering I’m using 70% coco, wud yous five a flush down the bucket and drain run if out as a flush before harvest? Considering it’s LOS mix maybe there’s no need to flush?
Maybe with this being a trial run with this I might do just one and see does that have a difference in the finial taste

I never flush, and I think that's also the general vibe from soil growers I follow on the forum here. However, with that much coco it seems borderline soil-less in my mind, so lots of feeding up to the end I'd say. I'm no expert on this mode, but @Bill284 is. :)

I agree.
No point at the end , especially in LOS.

I think this is an earth box. Actually this is it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C28X97KF?tag=420magazine0f-20

Anyway. This plant has been in here since early February. Inside until spring and then it underwent reveg. I just took off 10 lower branches that were mature from the first flowering and I expect another few weeks at least for the rest. It appeared under the cover while I was watering another, and I have no idea what it is. It's not an auto which is what I grew in there last.

I planted on Saturday... off and running!

I made soil did a grow then couldn't get back to it 4 months with my dissability. Soil is dry so I want to remix it and re amend it etc it's a coots like soil mix...

I have 200l new soil mixed up but have 300odd litres dry if i reamed at 25% kelp fish my origional mix then mixed it to the new soil?
Honestly the soils dry so I know it's outa whack but how can i make it usable without sacrificing yields or wasting soil

I'm actually not recycling my super soil anymore, but when I was doing that I just filled the wheelbarrow with the spent soil, crushed it all up by hand, removed roots, rehydrated some, then added organic ferts. I would also add fresh worm castings from my worm bins. Then I just mixed this all by hand and hand shovel, also adding more water.

I use a modified version of the Coot's mix. I do 1/3 old soil, 1/3 new organics like castings, compost, leaf mold, crushed leaves, etc, and 1/3 perlite then add a bunch of amendments, so your old soil should be fine rehydrated.

If it's really dry it'll have gone hydrophobic but if you add a surficant like aloe or yucca or even a few drops of liquid soap to your water, you should be able to get it back in shape.

thats what i hoped, was hoping it wasnt so dry it needs scrapping, but seems rootball stil is ''damp'' so may hold some life too, will be the odd worm so could be a blessing when i tip it, how do you add amendments when adding 1/3 old soil 1/3 new? yup i am a modified coots too (no neem but i use fish and frass bran and beetroot juice potato scraps )

i have 3 binliners full of leaves from last grow... and some on pots with yellow dot mould on them that stayed moist.
should i mix these into my soil ?

I mix the three big parts together and then sprinkle the amendments on top and mix it well again. The more mixing the better to get everything homogenized.

I crumble the dry leaves up in my hands and then run them through a colander to get mostly standardized, and small, pieces.

That said, this is an experimental mix for me that I'm still trying to dial in. Coco coir is more standard than leaves.

Wow the sip is bigger. :lot-o-toke: 🍋
The SIP plant is an inch shorter at this point, but they're just out of the gate. The other plant may have a bit more bulk, but they are pretty much the same.

New pics here...
