Yeah, I know. I wrote it. I was playing coy. But I really genuinely think your Super ASS is the best application to the stated problem. It's math, mate. It's just a physical reality, it isn't anyone's 'fault'.

Dussin.maddah. Jus... schuck 'er in ute, ahy?!

Welcome to SIP Club!

There are an increasing number of us growing in SIPs (Sub Irrigated Planters) so I thought I'd start a community thread where we can all post pictures, links to our various SIP threads and have general discussions on theory and application of these incredible pots.

I'll tag a few below and hopefully they'll post links to their threads and pictures of their grows and pots so we have a central place to discuss these things. So ask any questions and share your experiences here, and link up to your respective journals so we can all follow along.

First, the basics.

A SIP is a grow pot structured with some sort of grow mix above, a water reservoir below, and and air chamber in between them. This air chamber and the constant availablilty of water and nutrients are what I believe lead to the incredible results these pots produce. Every plant I've grown in these has been healthier, happier and bigger than those in non-SIP containers. They are great for new growers since they take the guesswork out of watering which is one of the main challenges new growers face, but experienced growers also use them to great effect.

Here's a diagram of the basic set-up:

There are commercial versions that can be purchased including 5 gallon bucket inserts like this :

as well as "self-watering" pots like Krissi grows in here:

They are also easy to DIY if you're into that sort of thing and I've built them in various sizes including 9oz/266ml, 1Q/1L, 2G/8L, and 17G/64L sizes. I'll post some how-to instructions in later posts for those that might want to try building one themselves.

Harvests from indoor plants grown with the 5 gallon inserts seem to be limited to just over 1 pound ( ) as was produced by Buds Buddy's plant shown here:

Emilya Green has a few journals going now showcasing her grows in her much larger, multiple 17 Gallon containers which is shaping up to be epic.

But here's a sneak peak:

stretch may have stopped.JPG

ResDog has several different styles going and is working on a self-watering version from an external reservoir, and LKA and Farside have just started grows with their own buckets.

So, chime in with your questions, thoughts, experiences, etc. and we'll have a central place to discuss all things SIP!

I like the setup. Is that emf fabric on the floor or Mylar? I know wireless radiation decreases plant growth in dense radiation areas from 5G. I personally would Faraday cage my room. That is my next project for indoors.

Hi - which specific 5G wavelengths do this - there are about 20
Relative short and long wavelengths and upon which papers do you base your knowledge?

Simple questions. Two of them. Please answer.

I’m watching “Lupin” on N’flix in french (Cheating with french subs” but typing so can’t see the subs anyway 😆

Yeah - you’re right. 5G is sub optional.

5G drives growers crazy! With its whys and wherefores. It tricks and never treats. This 5G scam. My ohone drops rk 4g even for a second from 5g in Thailand? Its embarrassing - 5g everywhere is #standard. We're kinda good at growing round these parts. Rice. Stuff like that

5 Gallons, yeah?! Sorry my misunderstanding.

Why ai just grow in solo cups (mostly)

Sometimes though! Only a 5G will do! 5 gallon pots! That’s what we wanr?

5G refers to the generation of cellular technology - not frequencies or anything - which spread out unlike any gen since 3G I think (skips a couple of gens) so can run 5g on old radio frequencies. So how is 5g different from your old radio? Not at all on a physics level.

But 5G is a bit weird as finally its more than a radio band or bands - its just a standard.

So yeah 5G causes plants problems is just pointing out you don't understand what 5G means.

Probably it's the 5G in your neighbourhood, that type of 5G, yeah? Its like wifi 🤣 plenty bands and standards My 5G - well that just must be the good 5G, non?

True the RF encompass a lot more.. 2,4ghz is peanuts.. but the shorter you go you'll eventually find yourself into the danger zone.. and well SHF's and EHF's can also be put to different uses with a bit of directionality and power.
And there certainly is something said to study these things as we are electromagnetic beings, like our stint with artificial light actually has loads of consequences for nature and our minds and bodies as well.
All hail the circadian.

A little off topic and for that I apologize.
But the more I look at this fish Hydrolysate the more I don't think it's mold.
I don't know I'm a new born at making it.
Anyone have any input on the subject.
It looks more like a fatty something or other and it smells like a two dollar wine.

Just fat and scales and such, nothing to worry about. I don't think fatty oils break down in the ferment.

Good morning fellow SIPers I hope this day finds you well and the ladies green.
Just a little follow up with the youngster and the burn issue.
It appears that she straightened herself out and started adapting to the environment,, hopefully.
All I can do is wait, hope and watch to see how she does at this point and maybe just maybe we'll make it to harvest, but for now there's not much to do except see what a little time brings 💚.

I thought I'd give an update today on my first SIP grow, an outdoor Sensi Cheese.

After 138 days in my Earthbox SIP (185 days from sprout), it was finally time for harvest. The trichomes looked about right to me:

The plant grew to 78 inches above the box. It became extremely top-heavy, and needed some major bracing to keep it from falling over.

The harvest began on Thursday and I finally finished on Sunday. I spent about 16 hours total on trimming activities.

Everything is currently hanging in drying baskets in my garage. I'm pretty happy with how this plant turned out. Buds were frosty and dense, and I'm guessing yield will be somewhere in the 1 - 1.5 pound range.

I’m stupid (or I could just reply to that photo and then stupified by that picture my tech skills went awol

Its really, truly beautiful in plant and composition.

And you dropped it with a bunch of other banging pictures 😂

So I screenshotted it because I’m dumb and I really wanted to point it out - proper exceptional 😅

Total respect bro. Genuine and heartfelt!

Highya Beez, guys,

What a gorgeous lady!! Before trim, she had some fat colas!! Lots of leaves to make trichomes, so she must be loaded! Congratulations on such a pretty lady, and having it all trimmed up too. You always have great grows!! Happy Smokin'

Ahoy Sipsters,
A fresh Vipar XS2000 has arrived at my maritime domain. The folks at @ViparSpectra have asked me to have a go with one of their lights. I initially thanked them politely and said no thank you because in my open gardens I run bigger lights.

Fast forward to Mrs Maritimer falling in love with a new home. A wonderful home with no basement stairs to climb. Wait, I have three full size gardens in my basement. Kisses and hugs later I succumb to her wishes. The caveat is I must now learn to grow in tents. Ugg

The @ViparSpectra XS 2000 is ideal for a 2X4 tent.

I will be starting a journal and running a pair of Ortega Lemon Fems in Earth Boxes. BTW the last SIP I ran in Earth Box was a Super Smash Cake Fem that at harvest indeed produced at least a 25% boost to flower yields. I also ran the SIP through a 9 Day complete drought. MONSTER CAKE we are gonna rename it.

Find a reason not to SIP?
I cannot.
