Shottafire's Manic Organic 2kw Perpetual With Supersoil & Teas

I am wondering what size fan would sufficiently exhaust 4 1kw air cooled lights. Im thinking 12" ho inline to be safe but not sure.

I've always sized fans by volume of air needed to move. For a hood vent fan, I'd just use whatever size the ducting is, but you're right that a 12" outta do it. :blalol:

My veg room was cleaned last night and now I am trying to figure out how to expand as much as possible without upgrading the ac right now. If my veg room was vented to begin with I would probably be able to barely squeeze by with three 1000 aircooled hoodsand my production would go up but other problems may arise. so If i can find a nice deal on a 24,000+btu mini split im going to pick it up as the first piece of my next step up to a larger layout.

Do you have room to expand into where you're growing now? Wait, did you post all the SketchUp 3D renderings?
Expansion is always good. :) :morenutes:

Dont know where to start right now
I am thinking of turning my veg room into a flower room for random plants new strains and just to have the room.

Today is really kicking my butt. Too much to get done too little time. story of my life.

when I get it done i will be a happy camper.

Sounds all too familiar. :blalol:

I hope you don't close the journal, but I understand if you're not seeing any benefit. I've cut back on my updates because RL is just too busy since Spring hit. :biglaugh:

I will admit though, your organics message isn't getting through to me very well. I just come to your journal for the pretty pictures. :)
It doesn't hurt that you seem like a cool guy too!

Ok well let me start by saying thank you. I dont know what is going on right now with me. Been super anxious since I have had no one around at home maybe this is why im being all weird. cant tell for sure why I feel this way just down today.

I thank you hiker and appreciate the kind words. I am thinking of going 12" but my reflectors are 6" ducts. so with that said maybe adding another 8" so I would have two 8" fans cooling four lights. with the 12" inline fan it would be restricted and dont want the fan to work to hard that is my only concern.

I do have room to expand. I can place two 4x8 trays with room for aisles between them. I am very careful laying anything out to allow myself to visit every corner of the garden. The room is set up with a four light controller with only 2 ballasts plugged in. so yes there is room and there is power for four bad boys.

I am trying to be thorough with what I do. Organics in my opinion is all about simplicity. There is a lot to learn and the cool thing about organics is the ability to just add water.

...greetings and salutations mr. shottafire. ...been steadily checking in and taking notes. i'm in the process of converting over myself and learning everything i can from ya my friend. nice set up and tremendous grow you've got going on for sure!

Alright lowrent. glad to have ya. I am here to help you out if need be. if I stop this journal I will be available via PM

Thanks bro

Please don't stop the journal, shottafire. I'm going to start one when I get Doc's Kit going, and I know of at least one other. We live soil people need to compare notes more. You've been getting great results! I'm a month or so from finding out how well my current mineralized soil is going to work in flowering - so far, pretty impressive. Have you considered getting a brix meter? I'd really like to know how your grow reads.

The reason I started this journal was to help people get away from bottled stuff.

Not only is the stuff expensive but it is harder on your plants. Organics when done right leaves you with a robust aromatic bud.

I am going to try and get the message across better since hiker stated he was not getting it. This is for people wanting to make the change to a healthier lifestyle. I can buy a burger everyday at mcdonalds and be full and satisfied so I feel. but with the money I would spend in a week at mcdonalds i could buy a two month supply of the ingredients to make my own burgers. sure it is more work but it saves a ton of money. organics is the same way. I am soo passionate about this plant and its benefits that it is opening doors for me left and right. Writing up a business plan now and next summer will be starting an organic gardening service focusing on setting up veggie gardens, building compost tumblers or boxes, irrigation for there food crops, building greenhouses, aquaponics systems for home use. The door opened up for me and I am not wasting any time. I have not had this good of a feeling about my future in a long time.

I appreciate it gray tail. Im fairly new to organics so most of what I do is based on my own research and what I see. works. If something I do does not work you guys will be the first to know about it.

I would like to get a refractometer as well. just kind of tapped for funds at the moment.

You are too kind buddy

I love watching your grows and Curso was right man, just do what you do... a few of you organics growers have me ready to do a supersoil run inside later in the year. I use organics for outside gardening, but wanted to keep the inside clean, but the level of maintanence is awful with our water here and temps and such. I like the passive hydro hempy style, but will be giving supersoil a try for ease of maintaining it. So keep rocking on man... and yeah, Aquaponics rocks... I hope the new company succeeds... :Namaste:

I dont know why I was all chapped this morning. Maybe since mercury retrograde just passed hahaha that is what my wife told me. she's in to astrology and as skeptic as I am I researched mercury retrograde. my birth sign aries had this to say, as I lol. its pretty accurate.

"Expect to be frustrated and frazzled. Assertive, impulsive Aries wants to move ahead, and all of the energy is going backwards. Watch what you say and how you say it. Pay attention to what people say to you; you might be pleasantly surprised."

Putting on the brakes now. Lets get back to whats good.

What I like about it that you essentially build your grow before you start. You get the soil composition "just right", add the mycos and other microbes, put yer transplant in there, and the soil bots take over and do all the work for you. What's REALLY cool is that evolution has built these lil bots, and they and plants roots get along VERY well together, after millenia of adaptation and symbiosis. Whatever the plant needs is communicated to the roots, which then exude fluids that causes the bots to change what they do and produce different nutrients, etc. Because they were evolved together, it so happens that's exactly what the plants needed. It's all a really cool automated system.

And because some folks have recently figured out how to tweak that system with foliar sprays, we can help the plants to help the microbes to help the plants make buds as big as they're able to make 'em. The army in the soil does all the work and it knows how to do it much better than we do.

Plus, of course, no chemicals, the buds taste better, the high is more refined. It's win/win/win all around.

Sounds awesome bro, don't forget theres lurkers here that I would think are also getting helped by ya. I hope you feel better and congrats on the open door:) That said I also want to say thanks for helping me.

The high is amazing. So glad I took the organic highway.

You are very welcome buddy. I guess as long as I am helping one person achieve better results im on the right track.

Sounds like a fun business!

I've been doing a LOT Of research into permaculture and other natural growing ideas for a couple years now. I was thinking more about food then cannabis though. I had read a lot of articles about the lack of minerals in our food due to depletion in the soil. That research got stalled when I got back into growing cannabis last year. I decided to go with the methods that worked for me before, ie hydro and sterile res. When I started reading up on the latest ideas in growing cannabis, I noticed all the talk about High Brix, so I started reading about that a bit. It made sense since it seems to be related to all the stuff I read about improving vegetable nutritional quality.

Jon's adventure into SS has me reconsidering how I grow cannabis, so I'm planning a test run with soil after this batch finishes. I have my concerns about it, but I'm confident I'll do OK. I'm hoping to combine things I've learned from Subcool's Super Soil and the High Brix stuff. My plan is to basically try both. Plant them with the SS boost layer, but also use the High Brix foliar sprays and drenches. I might just dilute the drenches a bit. We'll see. I'm trying to get the ingredients for some soil together now, so it can 'cook' for at least 4 weeks. I've got a few more weeks to keep studying. :nomo:

Hehe I'm on the cusp of Aries and Taurus (4/20) and I think I was feeling a little of that too! Early in the week was super productive, then Wednesday, everything seemed to fall apart and I felt like I was just spinning my wheels and nothing was making progress (talking about the day job here). I normally don't pay attention to astrology, but that does sound like how I felt. :blalol:

Hope you're feeling better bro! When does Mrs Shotta get back?

Right there with you, I've been studying permaculture for a couple years as well, looking towards food production as well as general gardening, but went with hydro on the first try inside to "keep the inside clean", lol... I want to give the supersoil a try as well. I'm watching our supersoil journals here as they progress to see them go, but I think I'll be trying it for ease of maintanence and less potention failure points and less brutal expense wise as well, but the end result will be decided by yield... I'll run the same clones side by side in SS and in Hempy style hydro or maybe smartpots with coco/perlite to see how close they are yield wise, and of course, quality of yield ;) :Namaste:

I envy you Shott, and I'm glad someone found themselves a purpose. It's vitally important for your confidence and self esteem to have a purpose in life. I myself get no satisfaction trying to ride the coattails of what I have done, the lives of Daddy's, husbands, Mommy's, wives, son's and daughters, that I have saved. Also the lives that I have terminated. It's funny, I thought that would be enough, I did my bit, took my hit's and lived through it after 17 years of switching from one combat zone to another.

I find now that it isn't enough to be remembered for what you did, but what you are doing now. So I applaud you for taking those steps and having the courage to do so my friend. Good Luck.

Hey shotta, my first grows were organic, I did a coupla synthetic grows...I had to try it out, now I'm back with organics, things hav got to be simpler than all the muss and fuss. I like your style and enjoy your work, I hope I can continue to learn from your work!

Can you really do organics on a couple plants? All these teas and mixtures I see are geared for 30-60 gallons of soil. I would never have need or room for so much.

What would I need in addition to FFOF soil to keep it organic? I haven't used any nutes yet, so I consider it an organic grow at this point.
