Shiggity Goes Mad Scientist: Paving The Yellowbrix Road With DIY Adventures!

I have used a cloner in the past with good success. Doc always says though that they produce hydro roots that need to get used to the soil. He has his method spelled out in a few places and it is what I follow. Basically what I do is get a clone/seedling tray/dome that has spots to hold rapid rooters. I then get rapid rooters and soak them in some water mixed with clonex cloning solution while I get everything ready. I then dip whatever cuts I take in clonex gel and put them in rapid rooters. I push em in off to the side and not in the hole. Fill the bottom of the tray with the clonex water, put the tray with the clones in it and put the dome over it. You should spray the clones every day with 1/2 strength de-stress. I get 100% success rate unless I mess something up and usually have roots within a week to 10 days. Make sure you have enough clonex water in the bottom tray to keep the rapid rooters from drying out.

I had rapid rooters, but threw them away. After I got them moist I had gnats everywhere, bobbrown had same thing happened. I used clonex then just stuck in dirt, just took few weeks to take root.

I got the little 14 site Dewey last summer or fall, can't remember. I'll only be doing small number. Haven't cloned much because this is 1st grow that I've had good seeds(thanks shiggs).

The biggest reasons I see people fail with an ez cloner...

1. Don't disinfect properly( I run the pump with manifold overnight in a cooler with water and about 1/4 cup of bleach).

2. Don't clean out the emitters( I sit them in water with bleach overnight and clean them out with a paper clip).

3. Pump makes water too hot(sit the cloner on a concrete floor or use a cycle timer to turn it on and off every 15 min).

4. Combo of heat and not sanitizing allows growth of bacteria (add 1ml of bleach per the 10 gallon resevoir every few days to keep microbes down)

5. Collars allow bacteria and fungus to kill the plant (replace every few cycles and also sit in the cooler overnight with the pump when sterilizing the pump)

Last year MagicJim showed a home made clone bucket. I made it and it works great. Now it's not made to cover 72 at a time but you can probably set as many as you like in a bucket or two. OLe Rooster a little upset this A.M.. None of my beans have cracked....... All I have left are auto's, not complaining , just wanted to run a larger and longer run my first time in the Brix.....
Not sure whats going on but my last seed order never came in. That made Ole Rooster's tail feather flutter a wee bit..... I've only ordered beans once before and they came in just a few weeks, this last order has now gone into eleven weeks. Good Morning all, Ole Rooster running a few gardens...... may Peace always be with you.......

Eleven weeks? They should replace that seed order for you. Have you contacted them Rooster1?
Yeah that's crazy long. Obviously intercepted, lol. Most seed banks will replace no problem.
