Shadowman's First Grow

They are looking good. Definitely some new healthy grown on them. Do you plan on keeping them in those pots? Oh, and a question for the community. I have only givin my ladies water, except one which is now in the hydro. On the TechnaFlora mix sheet, it says something about a foliage spray. Should I be wetting my ladies down with that spray now? or wait until they get a little bigger?

Hi Cannabis 1, thanks for stopping in, I'm keeping them in the 3gal pots from here on out. My tent is a 2'x4' and won't allow for anything bigger really, especially with 2 and I still have 2 tiny seedlings that I will probably end up putting together in a 3gal. At this point I don't know how many will be female so I am still playing it loose. If by some chance they all end up girls, I'll have to leave 2 in one pot for a 3 pot grow and only top and tie my best 2. the others would be topped probably 1 time and a short veg and then put them in a make shift grow box to flower early while I veg the biggest longer.
as far as the foliage spray, How old and big are they? I've been told not to spray or mist the leafs on small, young seedlings, you can magnify the lighting and burn them. If you do spray them I would probably dilute the nutes especially for young seedlings and raise my lights and do it early in the light cycle so they had plenty of time to absorb and what they can't absorb would evaporate before lights out. Just my opinion though and I'm really not qualified to say. There are much more qualified growers here that will know exactly what is best for your situation. But hey, Thanks for asking for my opinion and I'll stop by your journal to take a look at some pics. Your friend and fellow grow enthusiast.

Re: Droopy leaves.

I checked my future mothers this morning in the dark cycle.
All the leaves on all the plants were droopy.
I checked 10 minutes after the HPS light came on and all the leaves were perky.
I was surprised. Apparently the leaves droop at night!!

This is my first grow, and both strains are Indica dominant, so your results may vary.

Keep on loving those babies:-) :circle-of-love::green_heart::circle-of-love:

Hey radogast, thanks for stopping, In my case, the droopy leaves is due to recently transplanting and have recovered for the most part. You make an interesting point though and I'm going to check Cannafan's vids to see what plant cycles in time lapse look like. I'm sure overnight temps and humidity have a part in it also. Did you notice what your temp and humidity was when you noticed the droopy leaves? Air circulation is important also. Getting fresh air in the grow area at least every hour IMHO. I have 2 4" personal fans going 24/7, 1 on intake and 1 on exhaust. I don't have a carbon filter setup at the moment. Good Luck with your future mothers, I'll check out your journal and see what you have going.

Hey Shadowman, You mentioned above air circulation. Ventilation is a problem for me which would be another thread..
my temperature too high ...if you don't mind me asking, where do you put your exhaust and intake ? Are the fans your using booster like fans or regular fans like a table fan ? Your babies are looking good and healthy,.. so far that soil is doing great.!!

Temp was around 70 degrees humidity 55 when I noticed droop.
This morning was the first time I checked during "night" hours, but the evening before was the first night I skipped checking the plants. My cilantro wilted due to no watering the evening before.
I'm cooling the room with a 6" 440cfm can fan that sucks through the lights and pushes outside through rigid ducting.
I have a 16" swivel fan on a stick recirculating air 24x7, but no fresh air intake during the "night."

Thanks for carrying about my plants. I'm trying to give them a good home as I fatten them up for harvest :)

Hi granny, great question, I have 2 4" table top style fans, I put them in the intake and exhaust sleeves the tent provides from factory. I'm using room air in the basement, it's not filtered. I use the lower port for the intake and the upper port for the exhaust. Here's pics to show you what I'm talking about.
This is the intake.

I have the room the tent is in fully lined with 4mil black plastic sheeting so I don't have to worry about any light getting in the tent during lights out. I hope this helps you.

Hi Radogast, sounds like the temp and humidity are ok, I would compare to basic rule of all plants, wilting is usually a sign of under watering or some type of shock the plant is experiencing or Could it be they are getting root bound? That's what I would look at first and if you can rule those things out with confidence, I would consult a more knowledgeable grower than myself. After all, I'm on my first grow as well and lord knows I don't know it all by a country mile. Good luck and let me know what you find out and if you're able to solve the mystery. Your friend and fellow grower.

I actually use a small clip on fan in the vent hole but im not worried about smell so I don't use a filter the fan moves enough air for me when the tents closed it does stay on 24/7 tho but when lights on tent is partially open and I have another fan blowing in

Welcome and Good Morning to all. Just some update pics, nothing new really. I'm hoping when they get used to their new home they start to take off. It seems like they are taking their sweet ass time. I'm being patient and not trying to do too much.

Hopefully I'll have some significant growth pics soon, until then I'm visiting friends grow journals and reading up on general grow info.
Have a great day and "Keep the Green side Up."

I wouldn't be surprised if you have a small delay before they really take off. First couple of weeks are usually slow as the plants send out roots and get established. You didn't rough them up too bad in the transplant did you (6 days ago right)?

I noticed your last photograph of Little Frankenstein the new growth is coming up yellower. Are you using nutrients for Little Frankenstein yet? If you are using nutrient what are you using and how many millilitres per gallon? I Would start to use nutrients for Little Frankenstein if you have not started to yet.

I just put some of my ladies into dirt. They seem fine right now, but one is a little yellow. Im going to just water them and see what happens. Sometimes, you need to learn first hand what the hell is going on. Advice is great, but hands on is better!

Nice plants :-)

Lovely light there. Wide coverage. What's that run, 430 Watts?

Hey Radogast, Actually it only pushes 96 watts. 8000 lm, it's a small 2' T5 HO so I supplement with cfl's clamped in the corners. When I can afford it, I'm planning on getting (2)4'x8' tents, 1 for veg and 1 for flower and I'll use this current setup for clones and seedlings. In the bigger tents I want to go with LED lights, either the TOPLED 144x3w or the ZNET4 that CO Finest is running at the moment, I'm waiting to hear his thoughts on their comparison.

Hey BudBGrowin, There was a delay and it was driving me crazy, however, it looks like they are coming out of their transplant shock now and starting to show some new growth. I don't think I roughed em up too bad. I'm getting ready to update so check back. Thanks for stopping by.

Hey KingJohnC, Thanks for taking the time to stop by and share your experience. I am using nutes, Rhizostym, Ideal 420 Soil (which I'm using) sells it with the 3 and 9 Plant grow kit. I'm using 30ml per gallon of distilled water. I've been giving the 2 in the 3gal pots 32oz. every 6-7 days. I've had all of them go through some degree of yellowing at different times but that one is the worst and has lasted the longest. It's starting to show some greening at the tips, I'm updating pics to show. Thanks again for coming by. I value your input and expertise.

Hey Cannabis 1, I agree, I love and appreciate the advice, but in the long run I learn more by trial and error. I do however, try what the most knowledgable growers share with me and if that doesn't seem to help, I fall back on straight water and the wait and see game.

Hey Shadowman, I bet she's grown a bit since the last pictures. Any opinion on the soil ? Or can you do that since it's a sponsor. Almost ready to get some but gonna try to wait.
Best of luck,
grannyT

Hey granny, glad to have ya stop in, it's still too early for Me to give an opinion at this point, I think when I get to topping and lst, I'll see if the growth is worth the cost. I don't think it's a bad product, I just don't know if it's a great product at this stage of the grow. I bought the 3 plant grow kit, just under $70 usd so if I decide I need to add other nutes other than what they sell with the kit, I don't think it will cost all that much in the long run. However, I am doing a small grow and those that would want to invest more might want to hold off until they see the final out come when I harvest. You have to take into consideration the lights I'm using as opposed to LED or HPS. :thanks:
