Haha. I won't be the one to say it. So I just seen a little critter of some sort on the top of the soil.. can I sprinkle used coffee grounds as like a layer on the top?

Coffee grounds wouldn't help, let the soil dry out on top is your best bet. Also Neem oil should do the trick.
